The admission came after crew members on the 159th Aviation Regiment's Chinook that was hit by two rockets and small arms fire told Stars and Stripes that the NBC anchor was nowhere near that aircraft or two other Chinooks flying in the formation that took fire. Williams arrived in the area about an hour later on another helicopter after the other three had made an emergency landing, the crew members said.
He's been telling the story for over a decade. He should run for President.

As much as I know that Williams is a complete dink, I will give him a pass on this debacle. After all, the situations of being in a helicopter hit by enemy fire and forced to land and being in a helicopter landing without incident an hour later are quite similar. In the fog of war, the confusion is understandable. Not! This man is a disgraceful bag of crap without a shred of integrity. How does he even look in a mirror without retching?
Back in the day, when we were involved in activities involving helicopters, we used to keep a tally of how many friends and co-workers walked away from chopper crashes as opposed to how many died. Ended up very close. We both had some 'interesting times': spouse was thrown off a chopper he was boarding when the pilot had to hit the power when a gust of wind tried to hurl the craft into a drill rig. I was sitting with a co-worker watching others go out for the day when we heard the chopper 'cough'. A couple of days later, got off the chopper and had the mechanic ground it. Those were the days; I still remember the friends who didn't make it.
Oh, that's just like when Hillary came under sniper fire. She "misspoke". Happens all the time. Who could remember all the details of these trifling little incidents? Nothing to see here.

I was an Army red leg and a while back I worked in a lab full of vets. Most of them were Air Force and Navy, with a couple of Marines. I finally asked him if he was really a Marine. He said yes he was, but he washed out after two weeks. I explained that he wasn't a marine nor had he ever been one. Even I know you don't become a marine until after you pass basic. I also told him that the marines in the lab had better never find out. He left a little bit later.
