"When, as a child, I imagined the 21st Century, I didn't imagine blasphemy trials."

Me neither -- especially not one involving Brigitte Bardot.

Can someone forward this to the PMO's office and maybe they can take some notes from the Mother of all Parliaments.

With everything that is happening at the CBC this could turn up the heat a little.

I see somebody was actually found culpable in the death of Robert Dziekanski the Polish guy the rcmp tasered at the Vancouver airport 7 years ago. Cst Quesi Mulligan has been found guilty of lying on the stand. Imagine.

One can only hope that the other 3 mounties who contributed to Mr. Dziekanski's death receive the same sentence.

I think Poland has a law that allows them to send to trial persons responsible for the death of a Polish national in a foreign country. The trial would be held in absentia but the result (if guilty) would be that warrants for arrest would be issued and the guilty could then be deported (extradited) to Poland to serve any sentence imposed. Not likely to happen and Canada probably wouldn't comply but if Poland decides to act - and one of the guilty ever decided to travel to a foreign county ........ Remember Roman Polanski????

"Brigitte Bardot"

She looked a whole lot younger 45 years ago.

This has probably been covered here before. Recently, I had an opportunity to visit Winslow, Arizona as mentioned in the Eagle's killer tune from the 70s, "Take it Easy."

We took a few snapshots. Was a fun day.

It would be a shame if that mural were defaced, or painted over. A real shame.

A Canadian Saint in the making? Mary Wagner?

"At a recent court appearance, a fortnight ago, three dozen of Miss Wagner’s supporters turned up in the galleries, several of them resplendent with roses. It is useless to reason with our Canadian Pilates, as she discovered from previous court appearances, during one of which she was subjected by a “pro-choice” judge to a most extraordinary, frothing, incoherent harangue, which she endured patiently. She now sits silently in the dock, in imitation of Our Lord: looking at the Pilate, but not replying to his questions, except to nod that he has said what he has said. For what is the point? Of course she is guilty as charged, as Christ was; and if released she will go right back to witnessing for Christ, and praying for the souls of the babies and their butchers alike."

O'narcissist & the Media Party.

"The rush to condemn the former mayor in terms stronger than those of the last denouncer was stunning."

...-

"The media rushes to defend Obama’s honor from Rudy Giuliani"

"Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani accused President Barack Obama of not loving his country. Some agreed with those comments; others thought they were silly and even a little offensive. When the former mayor went on to defend that assertion, he insisted that Obama’s personal background and progressives’ antipathy toward European colonial history generally informed his opinions on matters including Islamic radicalism and the moral value of the Crusades. Again, some thought these remarks were tasteless and unfounded while others believed that Giuliani had a point.

The press, predictably, fell all to one side of this controversy. Many in the media reacted as though Giuliani’s comments were an assault on the honor of the president and the country. The rush to condemn the former mayor in terms stronger than those of the last denouncer was stunning. For the political press, this affront demanded satisfaction."

Since comments not permitted in first cited article:

It's the West's fault for invading Muslim lands, yeah that's what fuels extremism; oh and it's Harper's fault for saying jihad. Now let's recall the recent invasions of Africa and Indonesia (not); and Muslim nations never warred against each other or swarmed Israel? Hmmm.

Hey Haroon here is the "truth" - we could withdraw every boot on every piece of ground in the "Muslim lands" and we would surely get a good kick in the groin as payment; and you would have to dream up another excuse that it was still "our fault."

Get yer head out from up yer butt Haroon, Muslims are funding Muslims to attack us as protection money so they don't get "hit." Now the p****s have their own country. How did that go for us last time? BTW, we invaded AFTER they attacked us. Right, we "deserved it." While the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful I would argue at least the majority of Muslims buy the crusader/invader circular argument and therefore have sympathy with jihadists, sorry Islamists, I mean murderers; or, mujahedeen (let's use that one because nobody knows what it actually means) .

Islamism is the problem, not the "West." That's "the truth about terrorism" you refuse to see Mr Siddiqui:

http://www.thestar.com/opinion/commentary/2015/02/21/the-truth-about-terrorism-we-refuse-to-see-siddiqui.html

Then again isn't it all Harper's fault anyway for playing wedge politics?

The "vast majority" of Canadians would disagree.

Finally, Wynne apparently learned her dirty tricks from Harper, especially that smirk:

http://www.thestar.com/opinion/commentary/2015/02/21/leaders-fail-to-see-that-politics-is-not-governing.html

"What is a first-time potential voter to make of the nonsense from Premier Kathleen Wynne that her number 2 employee is both her taxpayer-paid deputy chief of staff and her party’s campaign director? Is this on alternate days or partisan until noon but public employee after lunch? Such an absurd insult to common sense might be seen as a good reason not to vote. This is beyond even the Harperites: by far and away the Canadian gold medalists (fixed that spelling error for you) in cynical politics for their deliberate blurring of the bright line between partisan and national interest.

No need to provide an example eh? No I see your point - if we ignore history including the Chretien government by political symbiosis. Nice rose coloured glasses. More inane nonsense from our mediocracy.

"Additional women are stepping forward with tales of inappropriate behaviour on the part of Rajendra Pachauri, who has chaired the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) since 2002."

Another ex-TERI staff speaks up against Pachauri. Rajendra Pachauri has led The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) for the past 34 years.

For the past 13, he has also been chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Yesterday, the IPCC announced that Pachauri won’t be attending an upcoming meeting in Nairobi “because of issues demanding his attention in India.”

Very cool photo, CAS! (I love the Eagles, especially 'Hotel California'...

I was not impressed with Megyn Kelley's badgering of Rudy Giuliani on her Thursday Fox show; Rudy refused to budge. The former mayor has paid his dues, and he deserves WAY more respect than she gave him.

Hopefully Pachauri ends up in jail.

chutzpahticular, I agree, Megan went a little too hard on Rudy, especially considering what he said is true.

Ken, yes, it's been obvious for a long time.
