Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Brian Williams claimed he saw a body floating by his window in the French Quarter of New Orleans during after Katrina.
Whoops.
"Workers in Alabama are staging a fourth attempt to kick the United Auto Workers (UAW) out of their plant following claims that stuffed ballot boxes derailed their last vote.
"Employees at the NTN-Bower Corporation, a ball bearings manufacturer, have unsuccessfully tried to boot the labor giant out of their factory for two years.
"Workers voted to decertify the UAW in an earlier election, but an Obama-appointed National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) panel threw out the election.
"Another election was held in January of this year. The UAW prevailed, but it was later revealed that 148 ballots were cast—eight more than the entire workforce…"

A Brian Williams parody Twitter account that was up long before the latest brouhaha. It's quite funny.
Sample Tweets:
"Telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the trust was invented by old, white men who owned slaves. "
"It's just sad that those of us trying to raise awareness are subject to so much foggy memory shaming."
"I guess my detractors would rather attack me than admit that one out of four women in college are killed by RPGs."
China is now the banker to the world. The IMF is now insignificant. That kind of power can buy a lot of countries.

Some might call Brian Williams piece "shaping" of the news.
Don Martin at CTV does it with Elizabeth May & Thomas Mulcair on his early evening program regularly.
Feel the pity for people that don't have a life of their own, and their only goal in life is so insignificant that no one else cares.

A Modest Proposal

More over Baron Munchuausen theres another liar in town
Terrific article, but have you noticed that nothing has changed and if anything, it's even worse today ? That's because it wasn't printed in the CBC where the mentally challenged rule the print and it's beyond their comprehension anyway. We still need a famine and the need is even greater now. We are no longer the "True north, strong and free". Somehow we've morphed into "Weenies R us".

Clearly, poor Brian is suffering from Munchausen PTSD by proxy...
Toronto Star, Wed., Feb. 4. They still don't get it.
http://www.thestar.com/opinion/commentary/2015/02/03/liberal-ted-hsu-fights-long-odds-to-restore-canadas-census-goar.html
Liberal MP Ted Hsu is sponsoring a private member's bill to restore the infamously intrusive "long form census".
Goar: "What Hsu does have is the backing of thousands of Canadians — doctors, epidemiologists, scientists, statisticians, librarians, geographers, city planners, economists, sociologists, entrepreneurs, realtors, pollsters, civic activists, defenders of democracy and citizens who want policy based on evidence."
Question: Where is the "evidence" that government policies solve the problems that they are alleged to solve? We've had government policies spewing forth from all levels for decades, yet the problems continue to get worse.
Here's why: Government is coercive.
Government is given a monopoly on the retaliatory use of force, so that if one "citizen" beats up another, justice can be done. That is its proper function. In that case, coercion on the offender is justified.
But other government policies interfere with individuals' right to plan and live their own lives as they see fit, to the detriment of all Canadians.
There have been numerous other articles about this issue this week -- an op-ed in the Star on Monday, an editorial in the Globe on Wednesday along with an article about how municipalities want better data.
Economists call the activity of trying to gain something for nothing "rent-seeking", and that is what all these statisticians, sociologists, civic activists, etc., are doing. A plague on the lot of them.
Toronto Star, Wed., Feb. 4.
http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2015/02/03/lets-have-a-broader-discussion-about-surplus-schools-keenan.html
The Toronto District School Board has dozens of under-utilized schools, and a number have been closed in recent years already. But columnist Keenan suggests keeping the rest open, and his argument boils down to finding "social problems" that they can help solve.
See my post above. This would be another example of "rent-seeking".
This is what you get from the mentality that wants to regard people as "citizens" rather than "taxpayers" or "consumers". Taxpayers and consumers demand value for money. Citizens are supposed to keep paying and STFU.
Toronto Star, Thurs., Feb. 5. After swearing up and down for years that the HPV / cervical cancer vaccine is safe, that every Grade 8 girl should be encouraged to get it, and that anyone who objected to it on "moral issues" (like some Roman Catholic schools) is a nasty dirtbag, suddenly the Star is finding that there are some problems after all.
http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2015/02/05/hpv-vaccine-gardasil-has-a-dark-side-star-investigation-finds.html
"... many of the girls say the vaccine was pushed on them by school officials, nurses or doctors who understated the risks, sometimes claiming zero significant side effects despite the existence of a list of rare but serious vaccine-related reactions published by the drug’s maker."
Ironically, Thursday's Star also contains an editorial encouraging parents to make sure kids get vaccinated against measles. Not only that, this week's papers have seen articles about a professor at Queen's medical school who apparently "teaches anti-vaccination information as fact" in class. And there was even an article about how some of the top Republicans in the U. S. had taken different sides on this issue.
Personally I suspect vaccines are safe for the vast majority of people, but that doesn't help if you're the one out of thousands for whom it causes problems. Many medications have side effects whose chance of occurring is rated at 1-in-10,000 or even 1-in-100,000. Even after rigorous testing of the products, are all these infinitesimally small problems discovered prior to the drug getting to market? If not, isn't it possible that some of the anecdotal evidence about drug or vaccine problems might be true?
It may well be that for vaccines the smarter course of action is to get the kids vaccinated, and if something goes wrong, "that's life". Just as the smarter course of action with regard to gun control is not to have too much of it, to protect oneself in the event that people with totalitarian ideologies get into government, and if something goes wrong like an occasional rampage, "that's life".
Even God hears a mothers love.

If one of my grandchildren gets measles because your kid was not vaccinated, and loses their eyesight or worse, you will be sued into the ground. If your kid is allergic to a certain vaccine, then tell the damn doctor. There are alternatives. All this vaccine crap based on a false study by a debunked "researcher" should be a clue. Take all un-vaccinated kids and put them and their parents in an isolated school/community. Polio, mumps, and measles will have a ball.
"If one of my grandchildren gets measles because your kid was not vaccinated ..."
Respectfully ... but I'm assuming your grandchildren have been vaccinated ... ergo, your grandchildren would be immune, wouldn't they? Why would the unvaccinated child be a danger to your vaccinated grandchildren?
Jordan vows to eradicate the so-called "Islamic State" after the beyond humanity, unspeakable brutal killing of a Jordanian pilot. The entire civilized world needs to help them accomplish it.
We need to be doing our homework here in Canada by checking out the source of radicalization and recruitment to this evil. Maybe we need to check out some of those we have tenured in our universities as well. We know the source and it's not Presbyterian church basements.

The approval came as the oil sands industry and its governmental backers won a long-fought battle in Europe to avoid punitive treatment on fuel regulations aimed reducing carbon emissions, a victory that could allow for Canadian crude exports to the continent."
