As Kate is wont to say, "They could have had the astronaut."
If they'd gone with the astronaut instead of the substitute drama teacher, they'd be far better off. Of course that would have involved Liberal party supporters actually thinking. As a CPC member, I'd have been OK with Garneau as change of guard in Ottawa, you need renewal every so often. With Trudeau, I'll do whatever I can to see he's not put in charge. He's an idiot.
I think everyone realizes the CPC will lose gov't at some point. The question is, is the alternative better? No, not now.
How many times did we hear, "I'm not ready." from Trudeau? 10? Then, as now, some in the Liberal party pulled the strings and "advised" him differently. I'm not interested in a puppet being my PM, thank you very much.

The astronaut could have saved us from Trudeau and he chose not to. When he had the opportunity to fight for the leadership he chose to kiss derriere instead. He was a spineless wimp.
...instead, they got the space cadet.
Well at the rate they are going, the astronauts, the achievers, the shakers and movers - won't be caught dead with the liberals. They spent so much time pushing sexual degeneracy, fiscal irresponsibility, and cultural/racial/sexual divisions...that today the only good thing that can be said about them is that they are marginally better than the NDP.
But ya never know with those idiots out east. In Morontario and Kweeebek - why should idiocy block a great career in a soft cushy gov't job? Those idiots will vote for idiots as they've proven many times in the past. I would not count young Master Turdo out yet.
Garneau?
What has Garneau said or done that would make anyone think he would do a better job as PM than turdo la doo?
Far as I'm concerned, one's an airhead, the other's a space-head. Garneau's positions on everything that matters have been just as insipid and childish as turdo la doo's.
As someone not in favor of a LPC government I was more concerned with Garneau. He would have started slow. However he is an astronaut which means he has a high level of grey matter. Garneau could have been just catching a good wind about now.
Conversely, the Junior bubble is slowly starting to deflate. There are only so many undergarments the MSM can throw on the stage every time he speaks. And puff pieces Chatelaine can write.
People get into leadership positions because they have a least a modicum of talent and have made it through some entry level positions. Even being an astronaut. Or a lawyer and provincial politician in the case of Mulcair. Obumbler can at least give a prepared speech from a TelePrompter that sounds OK in a superficial sort of way.
Junior was coronated solely on his name and his hair.
"Ms Adams, it's Danielle Smith for you on line 1. She says it's urgent"
Yes, I can see it now:
"...the 19th decibel of PI"
"...rethinking the space time continuum"
"...admiring the Chinese dictatorship"
welcoming 'blond genius Eve Adams' to complete the 'hair apparent's' ensemble
eschewing all those with a differing 'life perspective'
the most open and transparent nomination meetings...hack cough wheeze
It would be like riding the car from the ditch into the open slough...should be splendid if you like mud baths!

If JT had an ounce of sense, he would have turned down Eve and then leaked it to the media.
He could cite her own nomination troubles as reason and use that to bolster the myth that the Liberal nominations are 'open and fair'.
But no. He saw what he thought was a chance to skewer the Conservatives and jumped.
He is a fool.
Perhaps it is time for him to take a break and spend some time with his family, maybe a trip to Disneyland.
As empty headed as Trudeau is, he has possibly saved the Liberal Party of Canada. Before he became leader it looked like the Liberals would be perennially relegated to a fringe 3rd place party and be supplanted on the left by the NDP. He has given them a chance to survive based on his name (and his hair).
But his name may not be enough as Mulcair could still mop the floor with Trudeau in the election campaign and beat the Liberals for Official Opposition status. I think many Liberals are beginning to light their hair on fire about this possibility, some openly.
His best Liberal strategy would be to have Trudeau step down now, while the polling has his party ahead of the NDP, and before he is subjected to the intense scrutiny of an election campaign. He won't of course, which will make for an interesting year in politics.
One of Harper's goals when he entered politics was to change Canada into a two party system and eliminate the mushy middle (Liberal) party. I hope he stays on until he completes the task.
Trudeau is a kind of Canadian IQ test: if you vote for manchild Trudeau the only conclusion is that you are an idiot suckered by pop politics.
I knew Garneau back in his (and my) uniform days. I really thought that he had more sense than to go with the Liberals. I do think, though, that he would have been a greater threat to the Conservatives if he had been the leader and able to show the maturity that Trudeau lacks.
When Michael Den Tandt and Andrew Coyne, 2 columnists who have plugged the young prince with such vigor, start writing about the dauphin's poor judgement you start thinking there may be hope for this country yet.
Garneau may have saved us from Trudeau but he still couldn't have saved us from Liberalism. The preamble to the LPC constitution clearly subordinates individual rights to a "Just Society". That, in itself, disqualifies the LPC as a realistic alternative.
He won't be much of a savior of they lose again which I think they will. As soon as they happens knives come out and Trudeau goes back to drama teaching.
The commentary on the conservative side is as expected, but whats coming from the liberal consortium is to be kind, ridicule.
Its one thing when your critics do it, its much more telling when the friendly media starts doing it.
Folks, the campaign has already started, and Leisuresuit Larry is already fumbling.
This will not end well....for him.
"Turkeys will fly..." Brings back great memories when, at their lawyer's, Mum and Auntie responded to an idle query anent their childhood with "we were teaching turkeys how to fly." Seems that when the parents went into town, the brothers and sisters would grab the half-grown birds, wrestle them up to the top of the hip-roof barn, and heave them over. Must have been successful, as no corpses left around. Was also, needless to say, strictly forbidden.
Actually, as far as I can tell, the kids were holy terrors. Mum would remark that she didn't know how they all survived. But they did. Those were the days.
The astronaut demonstrated a few times that his own cranium is not particularly full either.

Here's a theme song for the Shiny Pony campaign: James and Bobby Purify singing their big hit, "I'm your puppet". Marvin Gaye also did a version of tis tune.
As a sort of political atheist, I believe it makes no difference who sits in the PMO because the greater agenda (which effects the most of us directly) has been handed down to them and it certainly is not an agenda that came from the electorate or one that is in our better interests.
Globalized governing and central control of global resources is coming and the soul-sucking authoritarian austerity of neo-fascism with it. No mater who we "elect?" they are bound by their fealty to the financial powers who are constructing this system to sell out Canadian's freedoms, wealth and resources to this new global governing order.
This will be done by unilateral unmandated treaty with globalist authorities, regulating in private and free markets, local property use legislating, color of law usurping of the legal system and facilitated by federal administrative institutions, courts and financial institutions. The war on north American middle class wealth and power is on. The era of centralized control is in ascension.
Whoever sits at the head of this vast self actuating theft machine is really irrelevant because the PMO is largely a figure head and there to give the population the illusion of national sovereignty - but as we all know, no debtor is free or sovereign until his creditor is paid back. With 64% of our GDP in hoc we do what our big creditors tell us to - and these days the IMF/WB want all debtor nations to tow the global government line, embrace austerity and have greater control over private wealth.
Our creditors write the public policy agendas not the PMO. The PMO serves their interests and the number one item on their agenda is the fleecing of the nation through fraudulent eco taxing and an endless war with "terror" designed to rob us of our rights and freedoms. This will happen regardless of who we pick to oversee it. One party will facilitate this agenda either faster or slower than the next but the agenda remains regardless of which party is elected.
When the sheeple finally realize the party system has been deployed to undermine representative democracy maybe things will change , but I'm not hopeful of that given the way they gobble up the daily propaganda spewed from the government lapdog media
The astronaut is as big an idiot as the idiot.
Such a distraction and anything DS knows is aged. I doubt he has been an insider since this was first a problem a year ago.
DS may well have his own issues to worry about as well. If he knows where there are scandals it may well be becuase they were his. There is some MAD going on here.
The Libs wanted a headline on a day that the PM was meeting Merkel. And they have bought themselves a management issue. If she wins her nomination it wont be pretty and if she loses, I suspect she will be bitter as he chance for the MP Golden Ticket (Pension) evaporates.
Eve is fashioning herself as a Canadian Elizabeth Warren, in an elaborate display of chameleonism. She is a determined and hard charging POL, so not to be ignored. But doesnt work and play well with others. I can only imagine what Rona Ambrose would say of her (Eve was her junior minister)
Oh yes puffs the breathless media, think of the dirtys Dimitri can feed us, and his honeypot, well she talked to Harper she must have the best dirt, dirty dirt, oh goody. Fresh off their quest to find an Arctic Inuit who had been abused by Bill Cosby the mindless media twits salivated at the chance to go back to Harper Hating a timeless tradition since 2002 to the media morons. These same morons giggled and passed notes through HRDC, Adscam, Grande Mere, etc etc and all the dirt dished by Jean, some of them sat through Sr. Turdoughs reign of petulance and they still hate an honest hard working Prime Minister like Steven Harper. The enemy is the liberal media, they will do their best to install this fool Justy, and what a mistake that would be.
Jaimie McMaster asks: "What has Garneau said or done that would make anyone think he would do a better job as PM than turdo la doo?"
Well, he went up in space and didn't -die-, so that's a mark in his favor. Shiny Pony clearly doesn't have the intellectual capacity to manage that.
My thought about Astroboy is that since he's a Liberal politician he probably won't -do- the right thing, at least he will -know- the right thing.
With The Pony, this is not the case. Pony will do what he's told to do by his cabal. That's why the cabal didn't chose Astroboy.
I think your tinfoil hat just slipped, Occam.
Not sure where you got your "64%" figure, but Canada's debt to GDP ratio is around 33%. I think Saskatchewan's is around 10%, and that includes SaskPower's debt. I'm sure you're including Ontario's debt to GDP ratio, but I would note that not all of Canada is responsible for that.
I used to not really care who was in the driver's seat politically, but after seeing Calvert and Martin in action, I care very much, especially after ideas like "Green Shift" are campaigned on.
I would also point out that "austerity" is only "soul-sucking fascism" if you believe that the government is entitled to take your money and spend it on wholly ineffective solutions to problems that largely wouldn't exist if they left their hands off your money in the first place.
Yup, he went up in space, and turdo la doo didn't, but Garneau's comments and positions have been as embarrassingly stupid as turdo's.
So that makes it worse, because Garneau's supposed to be the smart one.
As you said, sooner or later, someone else has to win: probably Liberal, maybe NDP. With Trudeau at the helm, though, It's hard to imagine the public saying yes.
This reminds me of the BC NDP five years ago. BC was getting tired of Gordon Campbell. The NDP had their most acceptable leader ever in the person of Carole James. At that moment, they turfed her for the wild-eyed Adrian Dix and lost the next election.
