About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Did I ever tell you about the time a fellow I worked with chowed down on moose turds because he was told they were alder nuts?
California is really a very stupid place indeed. Where else do you see people pay a million and a half dollars for a three bedroom frame house with no basement on a boring suburban street, and they won't shut up about what a great deal they got.
Barf.
Phantom. I live here in California and its going totaly loco our govenor Jerry(Moonbeam)Brown is stupid our state legislature are idiots and they have opened the border to illegal aliens and measels and Tinsele town wanks and stupid gun control laws

Vancouver.
While in Nanaimo I enjoy 5 acres (major ocean views) with two relatively new houses, one of which generates $20K annually in rent. And I'd sell it all for little more than half that amount. Now if I could just find that 'sucker' willing to part with $1.5M....
The power of the mind to believe what it wants to believe. First hand experience : As property manager of a large complex, leased to the Federal Government I was called in for a flea problem. Large open space, 42 employees and when one started scratching for whatever reason, it soon spread to almost all employees. No one saw one but the consensus was fleas. Immediately called in a pest control specialist and told him to report back to me ASAP. Over a hour later he called and said no sign of fleas or anything else for that matter. Conundrum. I made a announcement that pest control would eradicate anything not human and would start at 4 pm. Everyone could leave a little early. He showed up at 3:45 with twin tanks strapped to his back and a liquid misting hose attachment. Started in the furthest corner while those employees still lingering scrambled to leave. Next day, no scratching. Problem resolved. What the employees did not know is that the only thing the tank contained was a bit of lukewarm tap water with a touch of deodorant. Total bill came to a even $ 100. What surprised me was that he said they had to do that several times a year for various clients because it's much easier than trying to convince them that there's nothing there. Herd mentality. As he said " if they think there's a problem.....there's a problem". A lot in common with organic food. If they believe its better for them, nothing will convince them otherwise. Power of the mind and often the mindless.
About thirty years ago the Greater Vancouver Regional District decided to go ahead with a controversial spraying program targeting a widespread Gypsy Moth infestation. The spray was the first time they tried the biological insecticide, Bacillus thuringiensis (or Bt) which is a natural organism found in soil that is selectively harmful to certain species such as Gypsy moths. The day after their first spraying, the Emergency Wards of Hospitals near the sprayed areas were swamped with people complaining of respiratory problems, sore throats, etc. They waited a few days before repeating the spray but this time they announced that the first spraying had consisted of nothing but pure water. After that, the controversy seemed to go away.
Yeah. What ever happened to the new currency that spontaneously combusted when they came in contact to light?
