Reuters) - The United Nations Security Council on Sunday demanded Iranian-backed Houthi militia in Yemen withdraw from government institutions, called for an end to foreign interference and threatened "further steps" if the violence does not stop.

The United Nations has warned that Yemen is collapsing. Shi'ite Muslim Houthi fighters have sidelined the central government after seizing the capital Sanaa in September and expanding across Yemen, which borders oil giant Saudi Arabia.

Al Qaeda and other Sunni Muslim militants have since stepped up attacks. Yemen is home to Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, one of the global network's most active arms, which has carried out attacks abroad.

A retired four-star admiral who commanded the U.S. Pacific Fleet during several Middle East flare ups is charging that President Obama’s strategy in the area is “anti-American” and instead “pro-Islamic.”

Retired Adm. James “Ace” Lyons, also a former deputy chief of naval operations, said that the administration’s approach to the multiple confrontations with Muslim-based enemies follows a string of White House failures to strike Islamic terrorists stretching back to the Carter era’s failure to strike at Iran's leadership after the 1979 hostage taking.

"We’ve had many opportunities to changed the course of history. It hasn’t mattered whether it’s a Democratic or Republican administration, we’ve failed every one of them," says Lyons, who headed PacFleet from 1985 to 1987.

But at a security conference where he described how military forces were thwarted by the White House or Pentagon, he blasted Obama the hardest.

“The Obama administration has a strategy. It is very simple. Any thinking American should be able to grasp it. It’s anti-American, anti-Western, it’s pro-Islamic, pro-Iranian, and pro-Muslim Brotherhood,” he said last week at a conference hosted by the conservative Center for Security Policy where he heads the military committee.

Lyons, in the Navy for 36 years and a critic of Obama, said the nation has to come to “grips” with Islam as something other than a religion. “Until you recognize that Islam is the political movement masquerading as a religion, you’re never going to come to grips with it,” he said at the conference titled the "Defeat Jihad Summit."

Hmmm....and I thought conversion from Islam meant sever punishment, i.e. death, in the eyes of some. That is interesting, although I had never heard that before.

Mind you Nation of Islam was as much a Black Power movement as it was religous.

Yup, one of the reasons that Islam can be taken this way is that in its inception it was as much about a State and temporal power as it was about the divine.

Very different than Christianity. Judaism is as much about a culture and a people but not about how to run the state, but lots of admonitions in its orthodox form, about how an individual should be or act.

It does not surprise me that it (Islam) drifts into totalitarianism as the roots of it are present in the text, but it doesnt pre-destin it to it.

So I agree with the admiral that what we face is a political movement, that uses religon as its animating factor.

Blacks are less than 13% of the population, so the rest was belief in his message and belief that we had evolved to where color was no longer a issue. That's all fine but by the end of his first term it had mutated to if you don't believe in Obama you are a racist and hate the poor. The fact that he couldn't run a lemonade stand was buried under the banner of political correctness. Whitey could have never pulled that off. So I agree with your view completely for the second term, but not the 08 election. I think most of us believed there was a chance for hope and change. It was a experiment that failed miserably.
