About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Is the rumour that he's going to the UN/WHO?
The leftie media are lighting their hair on fire over the anti terrorism bill because their like minded losers who comment on the story are the most vile and threatening creeps in the country, just read the anti Harper anti Baird comments on CBC Globe Starwipe etc. and see if some of them wouldnt set off alarm bells. Yes these are the fellow travellers of our pathetic paper and airwave parrots who huddle like penguins and sound the same. If this is true John Baird will be hard to replace, he has been a good minister, he's been making lieberals cry since 2006, gotta love that.
I'm sorry to hear that. I always liked the guy.
Maybe paving the way and getting out of the way for an eventual leadership run?
I was shocked by the comments at CBC stating that they "hoped Harper was next"!
I like Baird - especially in Foreign Affairs. Harper needs more pit bulls like him.
John Baird was appointed to this independent multilateral - commission, a branch of the Independent Peace Institute, a non-profit org. headquartered in NY.
http://www.ipinst.org/events/speakers/details/573-kevin-rudd-former-australia-pm-to-chair-independent-commission-on-multilateralism.html.
His appointment may be construed as a conflict of interest perhaps by all of the bleating liberal sheep or? The position may be more time consuming than would be appropo to serving his constituents full time - or, CBC is full of horse pattooti as usual. I am sorry to see him leave.
`
I thinks I will wait for a credible news source, before I give much credence to CBC's babble.
There's an extraneous period [.] at the end of Elizabeth's link that should be deleted from the URL 'box' (whatever it's called).
And I don't know about the Norwegian but Kevin Rudd is from the lib-left Australian Labor Party.
Why would he not wait until the election?
Of course the CBC worshippers are going nuts in the comment section. If there's anything they hate it's allegiance to Israel rather than Palestine. Baird was not politically correct and that makes him a villain in the eyes of the left wing loonies. Since the CBC is probably their only source of information I'm sure they see it as a personal victory since they've written hate mail to the CBC since 2006 and it's always peer reviewed and approved by the vast majority of like minded readers. After all, the CBC is the national broadcaster, and they hate Harper and anything conservative. Ergo, it's their personal success that Baird is finally driven out thanks to pressure from them. That's their reality. If you have doubts then show me the one positive artcle you have seen praising anything conservative from the CBC.
Big loss to the Conservative Party for sure, he was top notch in all his political endeavors.
The media Party will be going off the rails speculating on the whys and why nows but with the election in the Fall he's giving the party time to deal with it.
There is life beyond politics, we tire of looking at old hangers-on like some in the Liberal party, ie Ralph Goodale and Wayne Easter , Hedy Fry, etc. seat warming in the HOC for decades. Looking at the Conservative side is much more refreshed.
He was an ok minister, but it was never really consistent with the values of the party to have a gay man in its ranks.
I certainly hope so as he would be a great leader.
TRUE, unfortunately, as reported by David Akin on Sun News.
I think Mr Harper needs to bring in some new blood/talent. I hope he is doing just that.
"He was an ok minister, but it was never really consistent with the values of the party to have a gay man in its ranks."
What a lame statement.
Get out much Terry? Are those Lib circles getting to you?
Libs accuse PMSH of 'homophobia' while he appoints Baird to the highest cabinet positions, his inner circle.
Baird accomplished much not by wearing his sexuality on his sleeve, and using it to get attention, but by hard work and intelligence, and principled politics.
Would you and the CBC Harper haters be happier if Baird walked in the gay pride parades with it all hanging out?
Bluetec, don't lower yourself to Terry's level.
His/hers comment was meant as bait to attract what he / she assumes is the overwhelming majority of Conservatives that he/she wrongly assumes to be homophobic.
He/she must be terribly disappointed that Conservatives would rather not label people based on their sexual preferences or skin colour but instead choose to judge people by the strength of their actions and character.
I couldn't care less what his sexual preference is. If he'd have stayed in politics and run as head of the party, I'd be happy to vote for him.
Yup.
