Daily Mail;

The Nasa climate scientists who claimed 2014 set a new record for global warmth last night admitted they were only 38 per cent sure this was true.

In a press release on Friday, Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) claimed its analysis of world temperatures showed '2014 was the warmest year on record'.

The claim made headlines around the world, but yesterday it emerged that GISS's analysis - based on readings from more than 3,000 measuring stations worldwide - is subject to a margin of error. Nasa admits this means it is far from certain that 2014 set a record at all.

Yet the Nasa press release failed to mention this, as well as the fact that the alleged 'record' amounted to an increase over 2010, the previous 'warmest year', of just two-hundredths of a degree - or 0.02C. The margin of error is said by scientists to be approximately 0.1C - several times as much.

38% can get you a majority government in Canada.

NASA used to send astronuats into space now with a bunch of cracked urns calling themselves scientists all they do is spread more BS then a manure spreader

and then there's this,"but scientists can use “proxies”—", does that fool not know that proxies are only good for making hockey schticks!!

GISS is just one of a number of different temperature indexes. UAH and RSS reported no change, NOAA had a big one and Hadcrut likely will be similar to GISS. They all use different data sets. What they all show (NOAA is an outlier) that there's been no trend since the late 1990s. The issue is was head of GISS Gavin Schmidt misleading in his presentation. Given his previous role as head of RealClimate, that's all too likely.

GISS was responsible for the data that makes up the GPS- map interface programs - if these are as accurate as their weather predicting, let off the gas when using the GPS, you may be in a lake rather than solid terra firma.

Thanks for that link, Pkuster. Ball is absolutely right. Because of the historic record constraints. GISS is constrained to an accuracy of 0.5 degrees. To claim an increase of 0.02 degrees is simply not possible. As Ball rightly notes, the equal possibility is that 2014 is the coldest year on record. Do any of these cretins understand the scientific accuracy of numbers?

BTW - another triumph for depleted factuality in MSM news reporting - media swine.

"Layers of fact checkers". I'm beginning to think journalism degrees are not worth the paper they're printed on.

Now that NASA has to use Russian buses to get to the space station, it has become completely lobotamised and Obamatised.

Let us see now.

The scientologist are homogenizing the numbers to get the results to conform to the big giant head.

Happens all the time on constant bases.

The media masturbators spread the fertiliser to the masses.

The masses take it in.

The scientologist, to make sure that what they homogenized get “plausible” start to go back on their misinformation.

The media masturbators omit, ignore for their own purpose, hide, misinform, mislead and deceive the masses.
You see the media masturbators can’t admit they lie. Come to think of it, it was and is where it still exists, common practice of socialist/fascist/communist mass media to lie, getting the diktat from the Ministry of Truth.

The LIV will never know what happened and will go with the flow.

Narrative is set.

World likes to be deceived.

Works out much better for the ruling class.

And the beat goes on.

But none of this will make it to the MSM simply because it doesn't fit their narrative. Yesterday on Calgary's QR770 afternoon show, host Dave Taylor (a legend in his own mind) went on a rant - using an old fogey voice - to insist that global warming was nonsense. He was, of course, belittling any view other than his own and the 'other experts' such as his guest, an 'expert' contributor to the IPCC.
Such is the 'argument' of the left - using any tool other than the truth to attempt to sway opposition.

Taylor uses his silly intonation as though he is playing in a sand box and is telling other kids that they can’t build their castle because his is the best.

Typical socialist idiot.

It will be interesting to hear what the hot words will be in tonight's state of the union address.

You know, the ones that match those on the 'have a drink' Bingo card.

Hey Spurwing Plover aka NME666, you aren't very smart at covering your tracks.

You are a well known blog troll of low intellect as evidenced here:

Bye bye

You could fly a burning space shuttle through NASA's confidence intervals.

They are only "following orders".

Patterico said, "He has also appeared in various other incarnations at other blogs,
always using a bird-related pseudonym."

I think you may be mistaken.

Huston we have a problems its NASA and crack-pots like JAMES HANSON

You know what we really need??
A sweet meteor of death.
no need to wonder if NASA would tell us if one was imminent.

I know of at least one case where this is literally true: ask a Garmin GPS to take you to the Piggly Wiggly store in the southern part of Eufaula, AL.

I wonder if the Calgary Sun will print a retraction of its "In Five Minutes Page" from last Saturday claiming 2014 was the "hottest on record". As much as they claim to be different from the rest they still fall short from time to time.

Former astronaut and real scientist thinks the hysteria over alleged human caused warming is "...one of the greatest scientific fiascos of all time.” http://notrickszone.com/2015/01/20/shown-on-german-zdf-television-walter-cunningham-one-of-the-greatest-scientific-fiascos-of-all-time/#sthash.a3BBOXoz.dpuf"
