We Don't Need No Stinking Giant Fans

The editors must have been napping to let these slip through;

The repair crew often works for 12 hours on a visit, so the captain passes the time watching episodes of "Deadliest Catch." Mr. Mortensen said: "There's a lot of trouble with the turbines. You're repairing and repairing and repairing. By the time you get one fixed, the next one doesn't work."

Indeed, when Mr. Mortensen nudged the bow of the boat through the heaving waters to settle near turbine No. 6, another stood idle, victim of a cracked bearing that would require a special crane boat to fix. As the workmen put on harnesses and climbed off the bucking deck to a small platform encircling the steel tower, Ms. Chioffi craned her neck to look at the machine looming overhead, its long white blades temporarily stilled in the cold, gray morning air. [...]

"In 10 years I don't think there will be wind turbines on Samso," Mr. Tranberg said. The aging equipment will need replacement one day, and new models are becoming ever larger as the wind industry seeks to lower costs by maximizing power production. It was so difficult to overcome concerns about noise and intruding on a bucolic landscape with the smaller turbines, Mr. Tranberg said, that he did not believe Samsingers would approve the bigger ones.

As the guests celebrated over hors d'oeuvres and wine, Mr. Tranberg added that he had been spending too much of his time on turbine repairs and renegotiating an unsatisfactory service arrangement. "The last three months it's three emails a week with bad things about the turbines," he said.

If all those blasted wind turbines dissapeared it would be better for the Birds,Bats and Local Residents

This is what I've been saying for years, after having been in IT for 40 years: the more complex something is, the easier it is to gum up the works.

(Maybe Scotty of Star Trek said something like that, too.)

Wind turbines are like race cars. Constant maintenance is needed of a prickly machine. One small problem and, ka-boom!, there goes $50,000.

In this case, there can be 20 race cars all needing maintenance by the same race crew.

Spending more energy, resources, time and money to keep something running than the benefit it would produce is completely idiotic.

Oh, wait a minute, doesn't government do that in the first place? Oh, right. Okay, that explains it.

Doesn't matter it's subsidized by a grateful government.
But it doesn't work. Shut up! It's official policy that it does!!

"Mr. Tranberg said, that he did not believe Samsingers would approve the bigger ones."

Ha. As if they are going to be allowed to say "no".

How about harnasing all the Hot Air coming from AL GORE and those jerks from GREENPEACE

Must make a pretty big splash when one of those offshore windmills go down. Must also make great reef forming habitat for fish and marine invertebrates.

NYtimes and their Democrat base just love wind turbines, except when its built in their backyard.

This island is 100% pro Democrat and cottage country to the Democrat elite and wealthy.

You gotta ask what would Scotty do? Reverse the polarity!!

Of course your aware what happens when matter and anti-matter come together

Och! Captain! The dilithium crystals willna stand the strain.

Proponents of wind farms are always claiming the Wind turbines make little of no noise buts tata a lie to residents and neighborhoods that are close to them

Always interesting how when the Govt subsidies / mandates run out and market forces take over"renewable energy" never meets the return investors and citizens expect. Just when the equipment starts to age and really have mechanical issues, driving up costs the income produced begins to dry up.
