To Call This Threat By Its Name

Marine Le Pen;

"To misname things is to add to the world's unhappiness." Whether or not Albert Camus really did utter these words, they are an astonishingly apt description of the situation in which the French government now finds itself. Indeed, the French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius no longer even dares pronounce the real name of things.

Mr. Fabius will not describe as "Islamists" the terrorists who on Wednesday, Jan. 7, walked into the offices of the newspaper Charlie Hebdo, right in the heart of Paris. Nor will he use "Islamic State" to describe the radical Sunni group that now controls territory in Syria and Iraq. No reference can be made to "Islamic fundamentalism," for fear that Islam and Islamism might get conflated. The terms "Daesh" and "Daesh cutthroats" are to be favored instead, even though in Arabic "Daesh" means the very thing to be hidden: "Islamic State."

Let us call things by their rightful names, since the French government seems reluctant to do so. France, land of human rights and freedoms, was attacked on its own soil by a totalitarian ideology: Islamic fundamentalism. It is only by refusing to be in denial, by looking the enemy in the eye, that one can avoid conflating issues. Muslims themselves need to hear this message. They need the distinction between Islamist terrorism and their faith to be made clearly.

Related: "France was one part of the Islamic land and it will be Islamic again." (h/t Irving)

"....in Arabic "Daesh" means the very thing to be hidden: "Islamic State.""

Yeah but the muzzles don't like it....so that is good.

"Islamist terrorism is a cancer on Islam, and Muslims themselves must fight it at our side."

She thinks it is separate from Islam. Fail. Perhaps a PC kowtow but if she believes that, she and France are french toast.

"France,[...], was attacked on its own soil by a totalitarian ideology: Islamic fundamentalism."

Also known as Islam, fundamentally.

Close to the truth...but still a ways away no..??

ISLAM IS ISLAM .... Period
The muslim who would lop off your head and the so called moderate muslim who would carry the sword and video tape the "event".

All of them are one and the same.....and ALL bound by the same Books and the SAME RULES.

We need to continue to have this conversation...as we hear this Propaganda and Moderate Muslim BS on every media around.

I make no distinction.
Ship them all the F**k out of Canada
...and dont bring any more in.

The country once known as the surrender monkies does not exist anymore. France is a muzzie and they wonder why their wine sucks.

I am not French but I really resent the use of the term "surrender monkey". It has no basis in historical fact.

If we go back to Roman times the Gauls of that age resisted Roman might for centuries. It wasn't until the Romans started adopting superior Gaulish metalurgy as well as hiring fierce Gaulish mercenaries that the tide turned. Note the revered Roman statue "The Dying Gaul". The proto-French quickly re-established their empire after the fall or Rome via the exploits of Charles Martel who saved Europe from Islam at that time and then by Charlemagne who founded one of the notable Empires of Europe.

Next to England, France colonized the most land on earth and rivalled England for global dominance for centuries on land and sea and in trade.

The French provided vital protection to the fledgling US and were a huge factor that prevented England from defeating the Americans. In many ways, France inspired the US founding fathers and vice versa with the French Revolution following.

Napoleon was unstoppable save for a blunder into Russia, the Duke of Wellington and Lord Nelson but his win loss record is indisputable!

In WWI, France stopped cold the German advance fighting bravely and losing millions defending their soil. In WWII, France again fought bravely but having sacrificed so much in WWI was essentially a spent force. Nevertheless the French Underground was unrivaled and the French Free Forces under De Gaul continued to fight bravely.

read some history of a brave and fiercely independent people before using such an insulting and inappropriate term as Surrender Monkey. It has zero basis in fact. The French are not done with Islam. Not by a long shot.

During WW2, the cheese eating surrender monkeys threw their guns of the ships in Halifax. They were jailed and should have been summarily executed as traitors. You my dear should read up a bit. Fiercely independent??? They can't find their butts with both hands.Every country around them saved their a$$es. The only good Frenchmen left for the Foreign Legion.

One can find numerous instances of cowardice on all sides in all wars. Your racial and cultural stereotyping say much about you however. Why don't you go take a break and watch a Mary Poppins movie and calm down a little.

Napoleon was Corsican, not French, and although well educated and fluent in French never learned to spell French properly. His mother tongue was Italian, being that he and his family were descended from Italian nobility.

Thanks for that lead, in response to steakman. Enlightening insights. I have travelled through much of the geography mentioned in that piece and seen the evidence of previous muslim presence. The history lesson was welcome.

It's good to know someone clicks my links. Thank you.

Surrender Monkeys or whatever, France brought this on themselves with Liberal white guilt for their brutal war in Algeria.

They opened their borders to full on Islamic invasion through “immigration”, pretending that Algerians were “Little Frenchmen”, or cousin Frenchmen what have you.

Now they know differently, and now we know differently as well.

You're wasting your time, Iola.

Once again, the usual suspects make SDA a platform for venting their spleens with a good rant about this, that or whatever.

when Hitler entered the lower Rhine he was afraid that the French would stop him, and he knew that they were more than capable to do so. Between the French of the day and Chambermaid (chamberlain) the appeasement attitude allowed the Germans to start on a path that led to WW2. Hitler chronicled this in his diary, yes history should be read, and yes their behavior leading up to WW2 can be seen as cowardice, as can that of a few other nations at the time. And yes I DO French in my heritage, just not much.

Oh, and the comparisons of yesteryear to the events and ppl of today is dishonest, it really can't done without explaining "context".

Few people here will remember 1954. Therefore they would be excused for not knowing about French valour that year.
In England we got the bulletins from the BBC. A grim and desperate struggle was taking place in French Indochina. The Communists were besieging Dien Bien Phu (now Vietnam).
The French appealed for military help, especially from the USA. The French Foreign Legion caused four times as many casualties as they sustained. Two months of bitter fighting. Alone, the French lost. America later got itself tangled up in Vietnam. Five times more militarily powerful than the French, yet they too could not win.
1863 at Cameron in Mexico. 65 men of the Foreign Legion stood of 2,000 Mexicans in a rude fort. 43 died,17 wounded. The last unhurt five men fixed bayonets at the ready. The Mexican commander, Major Compos allowed a surrender on the survivors terms.
Annually celebrated by the French military.

The Germans really appreciated the trees along the Champs de Elyssies. They were great to rest under. The frogs surrendered without a shot. You better pick so called "heroes"

I'm not of French descent either but I think you're exactly right about France and its WW2 surrender.

No less an authority on WW2 than Winston Churchill had this to say:
In 1914 the spirit of the French Army and nation, burning from sire to son since 1870 was vehemently offensive. Their doctrine was that the numerically weaker Power [population of France in 1939 was 40 million and that of Germany was 70 million] could only meet invasion by the counter-offensive, not only strategic but tactical at every point. It was now a very different France from that which had hurled itself upon its ancient foe in August 1914. The spirit of revanche had exhausted its mission and itself in victory. ...The French people had undergone the frightful slaughter of a million and a half of their manhood.
Memoirs of the Second World War, page 190

Accusations of cowardice are indications of shallow thinking by people who don't know their history.

Of interest is the state of my native country Britain in 1938. WW1 figures.
900,000 dead. 160,000 widowed women. Thousands of amputees including survivors of gas attacks.
A huge amount of gold expended. The sovereign recalled and people given a one pound note and a shilling.
Country was broke. The awful unemployment following and the General Strike of 1926 found 30% of young men were unfit for military service.
And they sneer at Neville Chamberlain for trusting Hitler and hoping for peace. I remember.

While we are ridiculously debating whether or not the French have lost the moral fortitude to fight this threat to their nation and to our collective liberal democratic civilization the Islamists, both the radicals and by their silence and inaction, the so-called moderates, are slowly winning this war.

Most of our leaders are so in love with their Marxist utopian dream of the brotherhood that they are in effect in coalition with radical Islam and being used by them.

Le Pen, whatever one might think of her and her party, at least has the gumption to call it what it is. Which is a whole lot more than our weak kneed surrender monkey leaders who will dither until millions will die.

You have some valid points, Ken. However, I think taking a few moments to reply to unfair condemnations of the French as cowards is worthwhile.

Calling them "surrender monkeys" is an attempt to feel good about ourselves at their expense. It takes attention away from how inept and foolish our response in North America has been.

Kill three thousand and destroy billions of dollars of property on 9/11? Within a few years many Americans are fighting to allow Cordoba House", an Islamic center, to be built in the vicinity of Ground Zero. A plot to behead the PM of Canada is yawned at by the media, or even ridiculed as exaggerated. Most people seem ignorant of the danger posed by radical Islam in spite of the murderous rampages that are occurring daily around the world. Focusing on so-called French cowardice is not in any way helpful.

OZ...that was a good read. And he makes a point that most simply do not understand and that is that the Early passages in the Qur'an have been totally abrogated by the murderous ones that come later. So you have the so called "Moderates" spewing their taqqiya about "religion of Peace" while they scream and act out the incantations of evil with the later passages and "carry the sword" for the killers

A huge smokescreen, misinformation-disinformation or "maskirovka" that the KGB would be proud of.

Over the past 6 years I have read many articles..although nowhere near an expert such as Ben Shapiro or Robert Spencer, I do have a pretty good idea as to what the game plan is.

1: STEALTH Jihad - for now with plenty of Taqqiya spewed by the likes of Syed Soharwardy among others in Canada.
2: Active Belligerance when their numbers grow..and they will - with the ensuing No-Go zones we see in the EU
3: Followed by open warfare...it can only be thus if the Intellectual LEFT, the Marxist Media and Brain Dead Western Governemnt Leaders keep up with their willful policy of EYES WIDE SHUT.

Educate your kids - arm yourselves .. legal or otherwise
This $hite is just beginning.

...As an aside to my previous comment...

This is not a new thing that is going on. In fact what you are seeing world wide is a concerted effort - Fronted by the Muslim Brotherhood in what they call the PROJECT.

The subsumation of Western Culture by Islamic infiltration with the end goal of establishing a Kaliphate in the West. They have been working at it since the end of the Second World War.

God help us all if that fool Justin Trudeau gets in as PM...he of the Islamic advisors and penchant for going to Mosques.

We will be truly SCREWED then.

.....teach the children quietly....cause some day, sons and daughters will rise up and fight where we stood still.....
