The coming "Shelter Dog Shortage":

Another way to tackle the problem would be for volunteers to breed litters which would then be donated to their local shelter for placement. [...]

For now, our current transport system is working well, and as far as I can tell we are not quite to the point where there is more demand than supply nationwide for shelter dogs. But that time is coming, and it would be a good thing for No Kill to begin to think about what we will do when that day arrives. My suggestion would be to start now with establishing lines of supply with foreign countries.

And here I thought the goal was for the elimination of shelters due to public education and neutering. How silly of me!

Help me out here....
Are No Kill Shelters good or bad. PETA hate them so that must mean theyre good. But they hate breeders, but breeders can deliver us a pet with absolutely perfect health and with a known temperament.

So what's the point here? NoKill good or nyet.

She is taking a bit of a beating in the comments so she is refusing to post them now. I doubt either of my comments will make it through moderation.

So we're told that:

"Commercial breeding has long been associated with puppy mills...The puppies are shipped, sometimes for long distances, to pet stores where they are kept in less than ideal conditions..."

but:

"The ideal thing would be for No Kill to find some way to co-opt the industry...The most obvious way to do this would be to start importing homeless dogs from overseas."

Because we all know that overseas strays are kept in ideal conditions and fly first class.

Pass the mustard, there be logic pretzels aplenty.

The "problem" is likely self correcting. There are now mysterious
disappearances of dogs by the dozens in selected areas of the
southern US according to reports. None have turned up on offer at
Chinese or Korean restaurants so far. If the "missing" dogs also lack
chips (reports don't say) "recycling" of pooches would be a good bet.

I have been involved with breed-specific rescue for going on 20 years. I would rather see a shortage of dogs and excess demand as I can then be picky about who gets a dog. Too many dogs would lead to pushing them out the door to whoever expresses an interest. I certainly disagree with importing dogs or breeding dogs specifically for filling a perceived "need".

any missing dogs are mostly likely being used in 0bama's underground gay orgies... which is a cornerstone of the democrat party these days.

Reid is an example of one of those gay orgies...
when he got a broken face and ribs. ...that wasn't an exercise accident. *lol*

"The puppies will likely be sold intact."

Well if they aint intact that would be a bloody shame!

Importing dogs in mass for commercial purposes should be against federal law!

Exceptions for documented selective breeding stock or in small numbers for individuals could be allowed without allowing large numbers of genetic or un=socialized dangerous animals.

The examples that have made the news would constitute criminal code offences of cruelty to animals.

Great idea.

Churn out dogs for 'rescue' mills.
That way the pretentious can still pompously declare that they own a 'rescue' dog, even though it is not an actual rescue dog.

This scheme is about profit, nothing else.

The Humane Society went the wrong way once they allowed this Wayne Pacelli idiot take over more into the same ifiotic stuff the PETA jerks beleive in

No shortage of dogs at the SPCA in southern Alberta today. The Calgary Sun has a photo of the farmstead near Milk River where the dogs were rescued. Lots of junk in the yard, and about twenty sheep, who all look healthy.

They were probably being forced to work for food by herding the sheep. How cruel!
