Bookmark-worthy site of the day: waka waka waka (Malcolm Pollack)

An intelligent, rational fellow and a good writer.

David Warren on Greece:

"As History hath reported before, hyperinflation is the answer. Give the people everything they demand, and see how it works for them. Restore the paper drachma: let them have all they want of a worthless currency, since they can’t handle the hard stuff. (The modern drachma had quite the history of decimal-place adjustments, as I recall from stamp collecting. It is almost as if Greek governments were incontinent in some innate way.)

"The bloody stuff comes later, when the people realize they have been cheated (by themselves). That is when they go looking for scapegoats. (Any more parentheses on modern Greek history and this could become invidious.)"

The whole thing here.

Business Week: "Pensions hobble police hiring as San Diego seeks boots on street".

"The shortfalls in the 25 largest state and local-government pensions have tripled over the past decade to more than $2 trillion, according to Moody’s Investors Service. Those gaps, which persist even as the stock market reaches record highs, have mayors scrapping plans to increase patrols and reopen precincts as they spend more on retirement instead."

PM Harper and the Conservatives have introduced legislation that would prevent dangerous offenders AKA ''lifers'' from obtaining parole or early release. Question: Why would you want these people in your neighborhood?? It appears however that the legislation is upsetting the CBC and *Radio-Canada.''

*Note: Radio-Canada's Julien Thibeault, on the 6:00 PM Regina news this evening, interviewed a woman who would not show her face or give her real name. ''Angie'' claims she was mistreated by the system when she stabbed her ''best friend'' and had to serve 6 years of her 8 year sentence. Question. If she stabbed her best friend, how would she have treated her worst enemy? Sadly, I was not able to find the link tho this (French) story.

Why don't they just tell the truth and say "you've priced yourself out of the market ".

"Pope on Climate Change: Man Has 'Slapped Nature in the Face'"

"Pope Francis said Thursday he is convinced that global warming is "mostly" man-made and that he hopes his upcoming encyclical on the environment will encourage negotiators at a climate change meeting in Paris to make "courageous" decisions to protect God's creation."

What next? Will Pope Francis be elevating Al Gore to Sainthood?

Yup, Al Saint's Day coming up on November 1 is what I've heard.

Ezra reviews the "journalism" that lead to Maclean's slandering the city of Winnipeg as Canada's most racist city.

Our MSM at work. Running cover for Wynne's disintegrating social safety net.

Take a story about a destitute elderly couple, turn it into something cute, then on to the next one.

For the 'first time in Obamas presidency' I am proud of Mrs. Mooch,
she refused to wear a head cover in the Saudi kingdom.

They blurred her face on national television.

Glad they did that also..

Ezra had an excellent show on Maclean's last evening. It is well worth viewing if you missed it. He and the Winnipeg radio host exposed the disgusting piece of propaganda that Maclean's wrote.

I wonder if perhaps His Whatever has pondered the possibility that "God" IS protecting "His" creation!

The Pope is only infallible in regards to faith and morals. He's obviously very fallible on this topic. Perhaps he should stick to his area of expertise.

God, Allah, Gaia, the latest tablet - what`s the difference, no big deal eh. Go with the flow maaan, there are many ways into heaven aren`t there ......

More tough questions to Justin Trudeau from the illustrious Robert Fife. Quite amazing how the Grits make a Twit(ter) move in Calgary (Khan: it just slipped by me) and we end up with elucidated with another slow pitch nerf ball question for Trudeau from Fife which apparently casts Trudeau in the role of statesman:

http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2015/01/28/darshan-kang-stephen-harper-closet-shooting_n_6563822.html

In a year-end interview with CTV’s Question Period that aired earlier this month, Trudeau was asked about Harper’s decision to reportedly take shelter once gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau stormed Parliament minutes after killing Cpl. Nathan Cirillo at the National War Memorial.

"Would you have hidden in the closet like the prime minister did?" host Robert Fife wondered.

The Liberal leader said that he wouldn’t “second-guess” Harper’s decision, saying it’s difficult to know how one would behave in a similar situation.

But when Fife asked what Trudeau’s father might have done, the Liberal leader gave a revealing answer. “My father raised us to step towards trouble rather than step away from it but, again, I won’t speculate on that,” he said.

I don`t know for sure but I think Keith Richards would step away (good one Karl). Sorry, couldn`t resist.

Are the Harper haters and Fife so daft that they will jest about RCMP protocol for a time that the PM's life is in danger?

Rhetorical question.
