International music superstar Demis Roussos passed away yesterday at the age of 68. Although the bearded Greek was not very well known in North America, his relaxed, swarthy confidence and vaguely new-age persona helped make the romantic Kaftan King a beloved sex object to millions of jet-setting, toe-ring-wearing European women who were attracted to him like sand to massage oil.

In tonight's tips music selection Roussos, who was a Gemini, puts the inspirational theme from Chariots of Fire to words in a song called Race to the End.

Hmm: Is the Noose Closing Around Andrew Cuomo?

It'll be an interesting story to watch.

One of Jonah Goldberg's best: The Perils of Hypocrophobia

One choice excerpt:

When Hillary Clinton & Co. talk about how “it takes a village to raise a child” they’re invoking wisdom from what P. J. O’Rourke called the “ancient African kingdom of Hallmarkcardia” to make the case for vast new federal bureaucracies, taxes, programs, regulations, etc. But the phrase itself contains a lot of truth. Unlike bureaucrats in Washington, neighbors, teachers, pastors, coaches, coworkers, and friends can help raise your kids, in ways large and small. Real communities involve extended networks of trust and goodwill. Fake communities have regulations, fees, subsidies, and checklists.
It is perhaps liberalism’s most grating rhetorical trick: deliberately conflating small and important truths about local community and family with large new federal initiatives...

Highly recommended.

" Premier Kathleen Wynne wants Ontario students to learn about sexual consent early "

Former Ontario deputy minister of education Ben Levin says it is not necessary.

With the price of fuel at a reasonable level, perhaps muscle cars will make a comeback. Perhaps they will even sound like muscle cars again. Checked out the new Mustang ? The muscle sound is for your ears only, so you can pretend.

I arrived home a few minutes ago from Fox Creek, and for the last bit of the trek I was tuned into CBC radio. You can say what you want about CBC but when all other stations have sports talk in the same time slot, CBC becomes king of talk radio in Alberta from 6-9pm. Corus honestly needs a competitor in Alberta, given their decision making in the past couple years.

Anyhow "As it Happens" had the mayor of Gros Mécatina, Quebec on, speaking about Telus shutting down pager services in Canada. They are actually in quite the pickle at the moment given their isolation.

One thing I found interesting though is when the mayor mentions their supply boat is 15 days behind schedule, and has been for the last year. Why you ask? "Climate Change".

Have a listen. It's only 8 mins starting from 0:00, so not long enough for some weaker individuals to turn to the dark side.

Bergdahl to be charged with treason...hope he faces a firing squad.

Correction: desertion...not treason. Still hoping for firing squad.

"a beloved sex object to millions of jet-setting, toe-ring-wearing European women who were attracted to him like sand to massage oil."

Pure poetry. Funniest thing I've read all day. lol

Why is everything about sex, witlh the LGBTABCEDFG crowd? They so badly,. Want to indoctrinate the kids

This could be nothing, or the sound of a brand new can of worms opening up.

"It takes a village to raise a child" - when the parents refuse to do it.

Joel in AB:

Thanks for posting that! It is comforting to know that the CBC can still do what they were originally suppoed to do, instead of working at ''job find'' for wayward Liberals. ''As it Happens'' always had a different set of standards than other leftist programs.

As for Gros Mécatina, I'm not a tech guy--but in order to have a pager--you need a phone system. Years ago on farms, we had CB and FM radios where we could hook up to a phone with a table top device at the base station. Can't recall the name however they worked quite well, especially on FM. The Cadillac of mobile communications is Iridium satellite phone. They work worldwide!

What the hell ever happened to learning math? cripes......

DanBC:

My concern with this story is why a premier Wynne is meddling in school board affairs?

Usually the supervision of early childhood development is up to the boards and people who specialize in this field??

Grade One is a tad young to be involved in sexual consent would you not say??

One thing I can you for sure. With a face like Wynne's, I can't see that being approached for sex would ever pose a problem for her!

Exactly. Not *your* village or not *my* child.

Link Byfield died today. A great conservative voice in Alberta

Will probably get banned for treason, but listen to local CBC programming during the week as much better than the competition. When there's nothing local on, will try for CBC FM if they're in a classical mode, but otherwise going to CKUA.

She was peddling the sexual agenda long before she became premier. Can't push the lesbian, gay, transgendered crap if you don't meddle. Just making sure that future generations are very "liberal".

Grew up in a small town. A village has nothing on that. Anyway, one time I lingered at uptown talking to friends, Mum was advised. I was furious. It was all very innocent.

In retrospect, though, I would have appreciated having the same eyes and ears watching our offsprings as they negotiated various passages through to high school graduation. Had an idea of what one offspring had encountered when, while walking through the Plus 15 (Calgary's above-grade walkway system), said offspring became quite upset because there were several First Nations in our path. All negotiated safely, but got distinct impression that said offspring's trip from school to transit had not been without incident.

That being said, there is absolutely NO way a village can be replaced by a bureaucracy. The village knows the child, even when the child wants to be anonymous. Which is - most probably - a good thing.

Bergdahl firing squad? Not an effing chance. 2 reasons.

1) Muslim martyrdom. "Look at what the Great Satan did to our brother Bowe."
2) Obama's (pbuh) in the White House.

Should both of those not be quite enough, sentencing will be delayed until Obama (pbuh) can pardon him like Marc Rich.

Ontario is so badly screwed up in so many ways, all from the same government from McGuinty to Wynne, why be surprised Wynne is now taking on sex education?

How many variants of sex will the children be taught about and how confused will they become?

If the parents don't speak out about this who will?

It's about time the people of Ontario wake up and realize they have an activist with an attitude running the province, she's legislated everything in a la mother/father knows best.

Next up, stump for Trudeau in the next election, she's already at it.

And Liz J, exactly. It is all about grooming.
