Last spring the New York Times colluded with PETA and tried to take down Steve Asmussen one of the top thoroughbred trainers in North America. PETA had someone working undercover in Asmussen’s stable and released a video and documentation making claims of abuse. The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission released their review of Asmusssen yesterday and PETA comes off looking like the joke they are. The Report makes for some entertaining reading. "It appears that PETA created a shocking video using highly edited content."

In its report, the KHRC said that in addition to the extensive edits and overdubbing of the video, "PETA presented conversations out of context and contrary to the substance of the conversation as a whole. All of the allegations concern specific horses and specific events that took place almost a year prior to the KHRC’s receipt of the information from PETA."

The commission also noted that PETA refused to be served the subpoena issued by the KHRC or provide additional information that was requested for the investigation. However, PETA said in a May 16 email that it had turned over all pertinent information. The KHRC said it was its responsibility to determine what might be pertinent, adding, "PETA’s refusal to provide materials that would presumably aid in an investigation they request is baffling at best and calls into question PETA’s credibility and motivation for undertaking their ‘investigation.’ It appears that PETA created a shocking video using highly edited content."

The KHRC also questioned Rosen’s credibility and said that she was involved in an intimate relationship with Blasi (Asmussen's assistant) while she was working undercover for PETA.

The New York Times reported on the story that Asmussen had been cleared without ever mentioning their part in it. We get better journalism from the KHRC than we do from the New York Times.

Because of PETAs smears Asmussen’s reputation was severely damaged. Several owners took horses away from him and his pending induction into the Hall of Fame was rescinded. I hope that he sues the pants off PETA and NYT.

Interesting historic find. Played a couple of other versions of it too including the original. Actually I enjoy the music and it would not set me over the edge. However, some of the modern crap might have that effect.

When that ghoul (Williams) was convicted of murder in Trenton, the CBC found a picture of him with Peter Mackay and put it up front and center. I doubt if they will do the same with the picture of Mackay,Wynne and Levin.

Murdoch Mysteries was originally produced by City TV and has been a family favorite for years.
CBC then purchased the rights and now control production.
Last weeks show was about Dr Ogden being the first woman to run for provincial office. Of course she was running for the Socialist Party in turn of the century Toronto. Feminism and communism in one fell swoop. The trailer for next week's show is about same sex, homosexuality etc.
A while back, Stephen Harper stated that it was his family's favorite show. He even played a cameo part in one episode.
Turning this family show into a indictment of all things normal must please the CBC greatly. This backhander to Harper and conservative normalcy from the turn of the last century must have them clapping their hands in glee.
