"Islam", or "terrorism" were words NO WHERE that I could see. He........just....will not.........say it.

With all the usual caveats - and the global warming Be is at the top of my list - it reads as a decent speech. As Obama's speeches usually do.

Unfortunately, for all the teleprompter aspiration, we've seen what the big Zero actually does.

This man is totally bewildering. In his typical style he attempts to reach out to the republicans and then almost immediately insults, marginalizes and then states he will not work with them on the following big issues at all. No compromise. And then goes on a diatribe of partisan politics being bad and then a few moments later engages in partisan politics and name calling. The guy simply doesn't get it. He states that the election last November isn't truly representative of what Americans think as it was a lower turnout in mid-term elections but then has no problem with use of executive action on some very important issues. So in his world the sweeping victory by Republicans in both houses of Congress and in many state governorship should largely be ignored as it was not representative but then turns around and grants amnesty with the stroke of his pen. Hmmm, Obama which is it.

I am so fed up with this train wreck. I think Congress should simply endeavor to push every bill they promised to do and all the ones that sat on Harry Reid's desk for 6 years right on through to him and let him veto everything. It is going to be a very messy and sloppy 2 years and I only hope the US can clean up the mess after this empty suit leaves office.

One thing for sure - whatever Obama says is a lie.

Playing the graph game, I highlighted 'carbon pollution' and 'gay'. In both cases the only instance of use was by Obama. No other president apparently thought either topic was of sufficient import to include the term in a SOTU speech.

And while I didn't read the speech in its entirely - I had to wash my hair - I didn't see any mention of the word 'Islam' anywhere either.

Obama has a long history of inappropriate use of the word. At his press conference in August, Obama got a social media mocking for this line: “(After 9/11) We did a whole lot of things that were right, but we tortured some folks.”

In the same press conference, according to the Wall Street Journal, Obama used “folks” eleven times–in reference to everything from potential Ebola victims to the Border Patrol to the CIA.

Obama has to stop torturing folks with “folks.”

This is too granular. A single word or pair of words can mean very different things in different contexts; I doubt George Washington and Barack Obama were talking about the same things in every instance of every usage of the word "government", for instance.

It's like comparing Beethoven and Daft Punk by counting the number of times middle C appears in the sheet music. The music comparison is not possible at such granularity, and requires context - the chords immediately before and after the given note. Once you get to five or six note sequences, then there is sufficient context for a computer to differentiate between different kinds of music. That's part of how Pandora works.

When this software progresses to phrases of three to five words, then a little context is possible, as well as some usefulness. Until then, merely a curiosity.

Try watchdog, bustling, bluster, checklist, churning, crisscross, giveaways, superrich and hype.

Compare those to courage, grateful and humbled.

I checked and the words, "Eighteen Trillion" did not appear once in that speech.

The economy is recovering, we need to raise taxes to ensure prosperity. Here's another way of looking at that "logic:"

Ronald Reagan - if it moves, tax it, if it keeps moving, regulate it, if if stops moving, subsidize it. Then remove all sharp objects from your pocket, bend at the knees, and kiss your ass goodbye.

The "recovery" will be short lived IMHO as the combination of an aging population and crushing debt bite the US economy hard. Never mind though, Mr Obama will be comfortably ensconced in Hawaii with his retirement and legacy.

Newsflash: it doesn't take any particular wisdom or vision to throw giant sums of borrowed money at "problems."

In this era of neo-Marxist class warfare, does anyone bother to ask if the "poor" are better or worse off now. As Margaret Thatcher exclaimed, leftists would rather the poor were poorer, provided the rich were less rich. That's what they mean by "fairness." Well that and they get cushy jobs telling the productive what to do.

The middle class income level pay the bills, not the "rich," and leftist redistributionist efforts only leave the poor poorer as they lose their jobs when their small business employer gets taxed and regulated out of business and they are then further impoverished by green energy tax increases and skyrocketing electricity costs.

Well, he did rank first on the list of Presidents who used the word "zero".
