About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

And they say "there is no God".
They say infinite but I see incomprehensible.
Andromeda is easily visible with binoculars (it probably is visible under dark skies to those with very good eyes). The central hub is actually about the size of a full moon. So I would suggest that at the next opportunity the gentle readers go out and observe it.
The outer disk is not so easily seen as the central hub. It is, though, an impressive sight.
The Andromeda galaxy is the only major galaxy which is moving toward us. All the others are moving away, because of the expansion of the universe.
Space. Except for the activity and bright lights, just like turdo la doo's mind. Neat.
A few points to note, Andromeda is of very high interest because it's known to be very similar in mass to our own galaxy and can tell us lots of things about the physics of our own. And it's the closest galaxy to us. At about 2 million light years, our galaxies are very close compared to the norm in our universe.
Second, our two galaxies are on a collision course. Milky Way and Andromeda will start intersecting about 200 million years from now.
Frank, Freeman Dyson said it best: "In the beginning was the Word, and the name of the Word was Hydrogen."
Space - the final frontier - These are the voyages of the starship Anti-Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new economic constructs, to seek out new tax and import new civilizations, to boldly blow where no Liberal has blown before.

That really bright star about an inch and a quarter from the bottom and the same distance off center?
That's Justin Trudeau.
With NASA's lies, damned lies and statistics I wouldn't be surprised if this picture was taken in an IMAX theatre. On the other hand the Andromeda Strain was a scary movie.
That's why any activity and bright lights, even without discernible purpose, can enthrall him.
If Freeman Dyson claimed he never wondered what was before the beginning, and why it began, I don't believe him.
Fun with numbers.
First the little ones.
From 1 to 1,000,000
And then the big ones.
From 1,000,000 to Graham’s Number
I think that I can just see that phony flag from the phony moon landing set/sarc
That's mindblowing!!

Try not to be too big an idiot. Much more than 99 per cent of the observable universe is hydrogen.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the name of the Word was Hydrogen."
And before there was matter there was, what we call energy. Einstein understood it - the relationship. If matter came before energy, all matter would be inert. From this energy came everything: every quantity; every quality, including intelligence. Intelligence, therefore, is, at the least, a latent quality of the entire universe and, even from a strictly scientific point of view, one should not discount that intelligence may have been brought to bear on every aspect of the universe.
Where out there is the JUPITER 2 and have they reached Alpha Centari yet?
That concept of Intelligence is expressed in the Greek word John used and we translate as "Word". It also means stream of consciousness, thought, etc. Of course thoughts are random without Will and it could be said that Thought springs from Will like a Son comes from a Father.
Andromeda is part of the local group of galaxies. Fortunately, even when galaxies "collide" the mean free path and cross-section of stars are so that the probability of collision is extremely low. Space is THAT big.
Another space thingy

DON'T TOUCJH THAT LAST LINK. It was overtaken by some stupid brat. This is good:

That one too. This brat should be taken out and shot. Does anyone have a valid link?

Here is an infrared analysis of the Andromeda Galaxy, with some interesting pics!
This buttresses your statement with regard to colliding galaxies. Enjoy...
On August 25, 2003, NASA launched the Spitzer Space Telescope. Designed to peer into the infrared region of the spectrum, this instrument was designed to pierce the veil of dust and gas blocking visible light and look deeper into galaxies, where young stars are born.
Music: Kevin MacLeod

While imaging the Andromeda Galaxy, the Spitzer Space Telescope uncoverd a never-before-seen hole, the result of a collision with a nearby dwarf galaxy, in the Andromeda Galaxy.

I have a pretty good grasp of my place and my consequence in the universe. I'll admit you are bigger than me.
I'm currently reading The Priveleged Planet which states, "the Andromeda Galaxy is predicted to have a close encounter with our galaxy in about three billion years". Not that your info of 200 million isn't long enough to convert the unbelievers but I'm thinking we'll need the full 3 billion to save NME666. :-)
Andromeda is I AM
You're right, it's 3-4 billion years at a closing velocity of approximately 225 km/s.
My mistake.
Robert is right, the chance of collision between two stars is infinitesimally small.
But there will be some large effects from the collision of the two gas clouds.
A beautiful picture of our universe
Looks like a fart through infared camera.
The Milky Way is currently cannibalizing the dwarf constellation Sagittarius. Yum! http://www.astro.virginia.edu/~mfs4n/sgr/
Read some speculation what when it happens with Andromeda, there may not be planetary collisions but there could be massive explosions from expanding gases.
I have a vacant "basement" apartment just for you, it's a little warm down there, butt..........
"That concept of Intelligence is expressed in the Greek word John used and we translate as "Word". It also means stream of consciousness, thought, etc. Of course thoughts are random without Will and it could be said that Thought springs from Will like a Son comes from a Father."
Well said.
When one speaks of Will one necessarily speaks of motive? From a physics standpoint, what causes something to act has to do with an imbalance of forces. The imbalance between these forces is what causes the universe to act. We may describe the forces involved as positive and negative, antagonist and protagonist, good and evil, but whatever the terms, the forces involved are engaged in a struggle - an eternal struggle. If one side were to prevail, the struggle would be over and there would be no reason to act; no reason for being. Existence depends on the struggle. Men need to struggle. That is why we are built for battle.
I could go on but I have already stretched the boundaries of this conversation.
As long as it's not as "warm" as where you're going if you don't get with the program.
"I think that I can just see that phony flag from the phony moon landing set/sarc" - I used to think it was phony too until I found out they were bouncing light beams off the mirrors left by the astronauts. I thought if they'd done it once, they'd do it again.
In 2013 the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter took pictures of multiple landing sites. Here's Apollo 12's lander: http://i.space.com/images/i/000/015/834/original/apollo-11-moon-landing-site.jpg?1331590994
