Despite all of this, things are still better than they were under Carter. Imagine if Keystone had been approved when proposed, or if we had drilled in ANWR, how much sooner the collapse of OPEC would have come, and how much of a help for the economy $2 gas would have been then.

Shadowstats says the real unemployment rate in the USA is about 23%. Government statistics have been manipulated to make the administration look good. That 5.6% represents the number of people collecting unemployment insurance. It deliberately omits those whose UI ran out, those who have given up looking for work, those who are now handicapped (over a million Americans have gone onto the disabled list in Obama's terms an astonishing number considering all the health & safety rules) etc.
