We Don’t Need No Stinking Giant Fans

In much of Europe energy policy is being formulated by policymakers who assume that combining wind generation over large areas will flatten out the spikes and fill in the troughs and thereby allow wind to be “harnessed to provide reliable electricity” as the European Wind Energy Association tells them it will:
“The wind does not blow continuously, yet there is little overall impact if the wind stops blowing somewhere – it is always blowing somewhere else. Thus, wind can be harnessed to provide reliable electricity even though the wind is not available 100% of the time at one particular site.”
Here we will review whether this assumption is valid.

I’d tell you how it ends, but I don’t want to spoil the surprise.

  1. Why don’t they just move immediately to rotating blackouts like they do in the third world? Those socialist commies in Europe are idiots.

  2. The AGW crowd wealth redistributers are not interested in real science. Socialist ideology trumps science.

  3. Remember when you don’t have wind, you can use solar, because when it’s cloudy, it’s always windy. Right?

  4. They seem to have mistakenly conflated their own behavior
as useless air polluting politicians sitting at a large round table
with the dynamics of complex highly variable weather systems.

  5. Those socialist commies in Europe are idiots.

The Green Far Left are far from idiots since they are currently winning the propaganda war hands down with Obama, Christine Lagard, The Pope and numerous other luminaries fully signed up members of that far left that wants to fell capitalism and decimate world population.
    What to do?

  6. Enviromentalists nutcases and their rediclous ideas this is what happens when their raised on a stedy diet of nuts nothing but nuts

  7. I guess on response to your remark could be the caliber of the people you have used as being qualified to respond on a matter that is difficult to describe and even more difficult to Control. Providing the information your employer, middle managers, want never establishes true innovation. Large entities only make existing technology-bigger/slicker/shinier/ etc.
The difficulty also includes” present “Educated Credits only” which dominates the information process. Establishment of minimum standards for educational credibility for input at the beginning of any bureacratic dominated structure and there would not be the incredible growth of Personal/Business/entertainment access.
I believe the movie “Brazil” (not the boys from brazil) provides a glimpse of bureacratic solutions.
    The marketplace made Tesla-Alternating Current; Gates & Jobs-personal computers/communication etc.possible.
Bureaucracy in Government and Acadaemis not to ignore Xerox & I.B.M. in business provides “Brazil type results”.
Globull Warming provides information which has brought rebuttals to proposals developed through the government/bureaucratic routine. Possibly truly innovative people would have been identified with less process and more imagination. This can’t happen easily with the also-rans lining up for government security.
