Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
London, January 20th – Southwestern Ontario must “transition away” from a manufacturing-based economy and develop more technology and economic innovation, Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau said Tuesday.
Windsor, January 22nd – “We talked about the need for the federal government to step up on manufacturing and give support to local jobs and prosperity,” Trudeau said. “

The location is the message.
Tiny Trudeau’s comments should begin with “once upon a time”.
What twat says “transition away from”?
Now he is calling for the feds to make Canada Silicon Valley North!
A bit late isn’t he?
Bubba Brown. Oh by all means a good fairytale aways begins with ONCE UPON A TIME and ends with AND THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER
I’m SOOO confused..!?!
Dear M Trudeau:
I really appreciate your erudite comments in all things Canadian. With words and thoughts like yours I am looking forward to a majority government in the next election.
Yours truly
PM Stephen Harper.
Politicians used to have the decency to wait until they were on the opposite side of the country before they said things completely contradictory to what they’d said before. JT now has the brass to do it in the very next town, it seems.
I fear the man is a nincompoop.
Well naturally, the makers of Blackberry, aka RIM, are just having a swell time of it. Just what planet in the Andromeda Galaxy is he inhabiting?
Look, the only thing ‘True-Dope-ia 2.0’ knows how to run, is to RUN IT INTO THE GROUND!

Strangely,we never seem to hear comments from the liberal party supporting his speeches. I’m guessing they have realized what kind of person they have put into leadership,…again!
Because all the illiterate goat herders we are importing are just the kind of human capital we need for that “more technology and innovation economy”
This is as vapid as other liberals who have said we must transition from manufacturing to a service economy. Service what? Service groups servicing each other? Only liberals can see an economy that functions with no wealth creation.
Simply an example of the Cognitive Dissonance of Justin Trudeau, which is an affliction of all liberals to some extent, just more so in JT
Whenever you hear someone use the phrase “knowledge based economy”, or it’s derivatives, you know with complete certainty you’re hearing someone who don’t know Jack Squat about nuthin’. All economic activity is “knowledge based”. The first guy out on the Pleistocene steppes that figured out he was better at making flint arrowheads than he was at hunting, and parlayed that into “Me give sharp stones, you give meat” was working in a knowledge-based mother—-ing industry. It only expands from there. As for innovation? All innovation in manufacturing starts at the shop floor. All of it. From there it either makes it’s way to the top of the flagpole and gets saluted, or it don’t. The process is intensely Darwinian. The culture of a company is a key factor, but in the end, all innovation is bottom up. It is virtually impossible to drive innovation via any kind of government program.
I spent 15 years of my life working for an extremely innovative manufacturer right here in Alberta, and can state with utter certainty that innovation either happens or it don’t, but you cannot, nor will you ever be able to, drive innovation from the halls of the legislature. The desire to innovate is a trait borne of a need to do things quicker, easier, faster, better, or all of the above and the place you find innovation is where people are motivated every day to do things better, faster, easier, or quicker. Can one honestly think that any government agency might be a place where that mother—in’ happens? If you do, you’re a true blue, dyed in the wool, double digit stupid-ass mother—er.
That’s all I’m gonna say ’bout that.
A bit off topic but here is a great quote.
(From a Sun News article’s comments)
This about captures the essence of the Pony .
When asked about about Boko Haram, ………..Trudeau replied: ” I love that band.
My mom has all their albums.
That “‘Knights in White Satin’
song is great after a bong.”
Brilliant!
This is not a complicated election then in Canada. Against this candidate everyone could win.
As a foreigner I wonder how this guy has made it to the top of his party – there should be someone qualified available?
Good luck, Canada!

Trudeau thinking to himself as he spews these rivers of inconsistent bilge – “damn, I’m stuck for an answer again – what would Uncle Fidel do? How would my handler’s favorite author Saul Alinsky handle it? Why lie of course – lie big, and thick and as much as is needed to fool the donks in front of you at any given organizing event”
So now we wait for a journo in a scrum with JT to lint this out and ask him about it.
Were it PMSH they would have made it the front page.
Great comment Greg..and that’s just it isn’t it..service who indeed…Tim Hortons workers..?
He is most VACUOUS apprentice community organizer yet.
God help us all should there be enough low info voters that X his name/party on the ballot.
Why doesn’t this piece of work go for a ski trip in the Rockies? He could bring Ontario’s Whynnie too.
Most media is firmly in JT’s pocket.
This is the reason that counting on a debate win is foolish. Justin only has to show up to win, short of doing something like whipping out his spitfire and wagging it at Lizzie May.
Will the ‘consortium’ that runs the debate favour the shiny pony?
You bet. Why would they change horses so close to the finish line?
The media will likely call anything that JT says that is remotely witty as the ‘knockout punch’. It will be played up as Brazeau #2 or something equally banal.
The debate is the 2 minute warning to the end of the game. Team Trudeau has the ball. That is not the time to realize that all the referees are wearing Liberal hats.
The Conservatives must weaken Justin considerably before the debate. A good place to start would be an audit of his travel expenses before he became Lib leader. The guy was averaging $80,000 a year on travel. His riding is a 2 hour drive from Ottawa. In the year prior to the last election he spent $114,000 on travel, accommodation and per diem. That is excessive. I think he was out and about fundraising for the Liberals. If so,no more Trudeau.

They forgot to reprogram the drama queen.
A small ovesight, it will be corrected by the media masturbators shortly.
I think JT is playing with a deflated football.
And Bill there is no innovation without the buildings to innovate in with the electricity the plumbing the roof and work benches. Justys heros don’t innovate in those caves, they just use the good productive peoples innovations against the good people they hate. This putz Justy, who has likley never unclogged a toilet or screwed in a light bulb other than his own 2 watter, despises the pleebs the dirty who don’t have the Mercedes and trust account started by gramps, not his worthless daddy. Innovation comes from a free mind with a compensation at the end of the journey of innovation, and navigable govt regulatory rules. Look at the major inventions in the world, they come out of free countries or previously free not places where some old angry Ayatolla is constantly wagging his crooked finger at the people, banning music while he secretly has a huge Rod Stewart collection, and employing the secret police to make innovators dissapear or work for the clerics. This poor kid is in so far over his hair he is like the old Arthur Carlson skit on WKRP running for mayor of Cinncinatti, I’ll take a stand that’s firm yet flexible. Its only the Harper hating media that keep this drug addled remmitance boy afloat.
I believe the libs still owe money from ad scam , and mssr dion still owes for his leadership as well as his own election expenses
Re “Transitioning in economies”
http://www.coyoteblog.com/coyote_blog/2015/01/lets-make-employment-of-low-skill-labor-profitable-again.html
Some good observational insights Bill, insight from my industrial engineering career of some 35yrs, tells me innovation is ultimately a creature of creative freedom and reward – corporate/business culture must mentor employees and encourage them to innovate for which they are rewarded – and of course the business is rewarded. I have seen innovation come from the shop floor, the eng. dept. and even the board room – the thing that drives innovation is a TQMS and the promise of reward – like the free enterprise system – something under attack by mealy-mouthed Alinskyites like the child king.
These words were put into the drama queen’s mouth by handlers who never understood the free enterprise system which created the prosperity they destroy. As sited above, “transitional economies” is a concept which means something different to me than the hollow lefty poli mindlessly spewing it as a catch phrase – Detroit, Baltimore, Ohio and the rust belt are “transitioned economies” – economies directly “transitioned” by leftist policies/economics which killed the freedom innovation needs to incubate economic solutions.
Quite correct Bill, and a very good reason to run far away from any “innovation enhancing” program the government comes up with. That said, scientific research tax credits are helpful as government doesn’t set the objectives.
Every economy requires the production of lots of things to function and this is what the people who go on about “service based economies” are totally clueless about. I used to see this all the time in Vancouver; programmer moonbats who assumed that they could get rich simply by coding and selling apps to one another; a slightly higher tech version of the coastal hippy economy where they assume that selling hand-made pottery to one another is a “sustainable” economy.
What would really distinguish PMSH from the other candidates would be if he proposed to make Canada’s economy antifragile. This would mean building refineries in Alberta instead of the asinine and fragile proposal to ship oil sands crude to Texas to be refined into gasoline and then shipped back to Canada. Makes great economic sense until a hurricane smashes into the gulf coast refineries and we’re stuck with lots of crude oil and insufficient refining capacity.
Real “service based” economies are based on people working as servants and hookers for rich tourists which is the case in third world countries; probably that’s what Turdeau is aiming for.
Occam- You’re more correct in that innovation comes from creative freedom. Essentially, if you put a group of people together in the service of a particular market, you will always find that methods and tools and processes evolve over time due to innovation. It’s also a very organic process. You simply cannot drive innovation beyond allowing the desire to improve to be present in your organization. I was innovative in the way I operated various machine tools, as were others. Many guys were more creative and innovative than myself. The man who owned the company was very innovative, and every big idea was tried out on a small scale first, as well as shop floor innovations becoming the preferred production steps, etc.
It’s simply physically impossible to “drive” innovation via policy and taxation fiddling and meddling. But, you’ll have an easier time finding a virgin in a home for unwed mothers than you will finding a policy wonk that actually knows that.
Need money for “infrastructure,” the latest weasel word for bigger government, no problem – use a tried and true Liberal approach – “borrow” it from somewhere else, like EI and pensions:
http://news.nationalpost.com/2015/01/23/kelly-mcparland-justin-trudeaus-hidden-agenda/
Oh and, of course, a carbon tax that his provincial allies will apparently be willing to levy on his behalf. Progressive land is so loaded with double speak it’s getting harder and harder to figure out what they’re up to. My favourite is:
– ban vaping tobacco to keep it out of the hands of children
– legalize marijuana to keep it out of the hands of children
Makes sense, right? No, just in Progressive land. When a Liberal speaks and says what “Canadians want” just insert Liberal for Canadian, then you will see who the intended beneficiaries are.
Bill, there are 2 basic management styles, authoritarian and innovators. The former dictate every thing, their style is top down. The later encourage innovation amongst their employees. You already know which tend to be the more successful. As I have travelled extensively as a service tech I’v been able to see many variations of both styles, and can attest to the second being far superior of the 2.
What some managers can not grasp is that the “top” sets the goals, and should leave attaining them to the ppl who run the plant and motivate the workers. Certainly there should be some protocols in place but the floor ppl should have a hand in meeting objectives.
Good old economic innovation. You know, the kind of thinking that makes money and stuff. That’s the kind of thinking they teach at drama teacher skool. .
Well said Bill and Occam.
However, don’t forget that the Soviets invented everything. 😉 So Trudeau’s fascination with Cuban style government should pay off.
Thank you Matt. Stay warm in Chili. Keep the good quality grapes coming.
“We talked about the need for the federal government to step up on manufacturing and give support to local jobs and prosperity,” Trudeau said.” If Ontario had a decent non-Marxist government in Ontario they would not need welfare handouts.
Er – hasn’t most of our former industry gone to China? That is why cheap oil may not be so good for anybody in Canada.
Reminds me of the movie “Back to School” when a self-made business man, played by Rodney Dangerfield, goes back to college. He goes head to head with the Economics professor who, not unlike “government innovation by committee” is totally devoid of any real-world experience.

Not sure Justin would pass tryouts for a high school drama.
Stammering interspersed with hem-haws from a political leader, or in his case pseudo leader/front man,is proof he hasn’t learned beyond his lines, hasn’t taken the time to find out exactly what the dickens is going on for himself.
Looking at the likes of Ralph Goodale bobble his head animatedly accusing the Harper Conservatives of Jiggery-pokery is a real hoot. The Liberals should know all about it, they’ve been at it for some time in theri desperation to regain power.
For the debates Justine will be fed a few punch lines and hope he can figure out where to insert them and be declared the winner.
