  1. Games officials expense everything and lots of it
Toronto Pan Am Games officials flew around the world and stuffed their faces on the taxpayers’ dime.
Thousands of expense documents dropped off for media without warning Friday detailed the seemingly endless catered events and flights enjoyed by the brass at the Pan Am Games.
They even expensed a $149 artificial Christmas tree with special printed tree skirt at $14.99 for a “holiday party” and a $1,181 “Funarama Photo Booth.”
There were receipts for $6 Coffee Crisps and $6 snack size Smarties.
But despite expensing a $15.95 desktop calendar, $9.50 yearly poster planner and a $9.50 yearly poster planner in French, organizers struggled in the early days to stay on budget and meet targets.
The budget has shot to $2.5 billion from an initial estimate of $1.5 billion.

  2. Doctors in France will have the right to put terminally-ill patients into a deep sleep until they die, under plans unveiled on Friday that reignited a national debate on euthanasia.
The debate on euthanasia regularly pits those who say the sanctity of life must be respected at all costs against people who believe terminally-ill patients who suffer unbearable pain should be allowed to die.

  3. A First Nations community in B.C. has signed an agreement with Coastal GasLink Pipeline that is worth approximately $2.8 million.
The 650-km pipeline will transport natural gas from the Dawson Creek area to the proposed LNG Canada facility near Kitimat.

Once the gas pipeline is built, the dilbit pipeline can be built on the same right-of-way with no additional approvals required.

I wonder how much the taxpayers are on the hook for with this one?

    Zero taxpayer $
    http://www.theobserver.ca/2014/12/11/50m-southern-ontario-biodiesel-plant-goes-into-receivership
Luxembourg-based investment company Heridge SARL launched the court case because it says it was only repaid half of a $20-million loan used to get GLB’s Welland plant off the ground.
The plant is being maintained so it can immediately go back into production once there’s a new owner.
According to court documents, GLB used the $20-million loan to build the Welland production facility in 2012 and to secure a commitment from the federal government for $65 million through Natural Resources Canada’s $1.5-billion ecoENERGY fund, designed to kick-start the country’s biofuel industry.
E-mails from Natural Resources Canada show the department terminated its $65-million ecoENERGY agreement in October 2013 because “GLB had failed to fully commission the biodiesel plant in accordance with the requisite time lines.”
If no other qualified bids are received, Heridge will take over ownership.
A Heridge spokesman, who asked not to be identified, said the company wants to keep the plant running.

  5. The utter disgrace of the arrogant incompetence of the Ontario Liberal government should prove to be the worst in the history of the province and even the worst in the country.
Wynne keeps spending and her tribe cheer her on as she tries to divert her sh*t to the Prime Minister, watching as her energy minister Chiarelli spits on the Auditor’s report, saying she doesn’t know what she’s talking about or doesn’t understand, it’s too complicated for her. Never mind she worked 8 years in hydro.
How do we stop this? We need to be looking at some sort of revolt to rein these clowns in before we lose the basics like health care and education which are already suffering. People are dying due to delays in treatments.
Toronto, wake up, look what’s going on around you!

  6. Anyone here get suckered into buying a so called “high efficiency” washing machine, uses less water, to save on water bills? They go off balance with a set of bed sheets and definitely do not clean as well, even with their special “HE” laundry detergents they often need a second rinse. May be time to try the old time washboards, I’m sure the energy wackos plan is to take us back to the 19th century bit by bit. Will we let them? Sure, bend over for more kicks in the slats.

If they had one shred of decency they would announce that they got it all wrong, but no, they continue on trying to placate their greenut electors, “97%” trough dwellers and the manic CAGW converted – and hope the real world won’t see what is going on.”

  8. Yep. My old top loader died a few years ago, so I bought an LG Tromm “energy-saving” front loader. Worked OK for a month or two, then flat-out quit. They sent a service guy out, and he replaced the main board, and it worked for a year or two more, but was becoming increasing noisy. Then it flat-out quit, and dumped a lot of water on the floor, and locked up with a tub half-full of water and wet laundry. I managed to break into it, and retrieve my laundry, and hied myself off to the laundromat to finish it off.
I was able to find a year-old Whirlpool top-loader in Calgary for a couple hundred dollars, and bought that, and it has been trouble-free.
Took the front-loader apart; autopsied it if you will. The lip seal on the drum/motor spindle had failed, allowing the grease to wash out of the ONE big ball bearing that supports the drum, and the bearing balls then turned to rust and got ground to powder. Ugly mess.
Incidentally, you know why those damn things are so heavy? Two huge crescent-shaped weights on the front face of the drum housing. One of cast iron, the other of plastic, filled with cement.
I did save the remains of the motor. I could press a new bearing on the spindle. Apparently, quite a few folks have used them as slow-speed alternators attached to small Savonius wind turbines.

  10. Yes, it was the day of stupid, illiterate and Low Information.
It is somewhat sad to see how many LIVs are fooled by extremists and liars like Sharpton…………..so like, where was Jesse? Hmmmmmm…..
Even the Conspiracy News Network largely ignored the ‘marches’ on Saturday, and wasn’t even a news item on their webpage……go figure.

Tragically, the NDP MP who saved the Downtown East Side of Vancouver, has decided not to run next year.
Perhaps this socialist saint has a big enough pension after getting elected to Parliament for 18 years by the most mentally-deprived people in Canada.
CBC shut the comments down pretty quickly, before more people could ask what it is exactly that Davies has done for her constituents.

  12. I still use the wringer machine I got 40 years ago, and a 20 year old top loader. Both are Kenmore, and continue to run without problems. The only electronics in the top loader is switches and relays, which are easily replaced if need be. I’ll never buy a computerized washer.

  14. No work boots have been stolen by looters.
The ghetto dwellers want to disarm the police “No mother should have to worry that her son will be shot committing another crime”.
The smart municipalities will simply designate the ghettos as ‘No Patrol Zones’. Let the stupid monkeys kill and rob each other.

  15. Our state broadcaster is doing their best to incite racial tension. They want a Ferguson in Canada. It would give them credibility with their USA counterparts.
    Fortunately, their best is pathetic.
    Though, it is the weekend.

A self-identified native ‘elder’ was arrested outside a Smithers store.
She is an elder, she uses a walker, the RCMP are racist monsters.
Unfortunately for the CBC, the Smithers news has noted that she resisted being handcuffed after a shouting match. They got that information from her.

“Europeans sip gasoline while Americans guzzle it, or at least that’s how the story goes. But as the Economist reports, once you look under the hood, Europe’s fuel efficiency emissions standards are a little suspect:
Europe’s procedure is out of date and open to abuse. Carmakers send prototypes for testing. They are engineered to be as frugal as possible.”

“One chilly fall morning, my husband called to say he’d arrived at work with freezing cold hands.
It was his first time driving an electric car, a 2015 Leaf I’d borrowed from Nissan, and he was so worried about running out of battery range, he’d made the 42-kilometre trip with no heat.
I sighed. I’d made my husband a guinea pig in my experiment to see whether an all-electric vehicle could fit our suburban family lifestyle as a replacement for his old car.”

  18. I went thru two in less than 6 yrs.

bought a plain jane top load washer that works well although it occasionally wraps something around the agitator killing it.
luckily im not that attached to my towels.
