Four ridings around the GTA have Chinese-Canadians candidates, and in sharp contrast to the Conservatives’ top-down ethnic strategy of wooing voters through messaging that appeals to a specific minority, the Mandarin community is fielding its own candidates. In Don Valley North’s nomination contest, scientist Geng Tan upset presumed front-runner Rana Sarkar, a veteran party member and friend of Gerald Butts, Leader Justin Trudeau’s top adviser. Mr. Geng accomplished this by appealing almost solely to a monolithic base of Mandarin-speakers in Mandarin only.

In the case of Mr. Geng’s campaign, his website was mostly in Mandarin and was changed to English only after a conversation with The Globe and Mail last week. His membership list, which The Globe reviewed, was composed exclusively of Chinese names.

Of course that’s what it’s about. Democracy, like it or not, is about getting your supporters out to vote. Set up to succeed? What does idiot Wilfert think? That the elite should simply be acclaimed without having to get their hands dirty? It may come as a surprise to him that we don’t yet quite live in an appointed oligarchy.

Hah! This happened in San Francisco, too. With increasing Chinese immigration over the years, the Chinese community is gradually taking over. If I may indulge in a few racial stereotypes, many are extremely well-educated, high I.Q., with high median incomes. They are squeezing out blacks and hispanics, and whitey isn’t far behind. Unfortunately, so far they have elected nothing but lefties- “progressives” to the core. Sigh.

The Chinese see that as real “Social Justice” you can believe in, translated in Mandarin as “Survival of the Fittest”. Liberals would die if left on their own for any length of time.
Certainly been my experience in the GTA. I find it hard to believe Justin can whip them into tears over concerns about first nations or global warming, or raising taxes. Or legalizing pot, or, or..uh, well, i guess that’s about all he’s got.
With my CPC MP last week at a meeting for my councillor thanking those who supported him. It was at a banquet hall in Thorncliffe and it was almost solid muslim. My MP said to me later did I notice a little chill in the room as he had a short speech there. He noted that this community is solid Liberal and instructed by their leaders who to vote for in next year’s election.
If you ever have to figure out who supports the communist gang that runs China, wear a T-shirt with the Tank Man photo on it and loudly discuss “June 4”. Then observe who goes ballistic.
