Mainstreaming and forcing the celebration of deviant behavior is the goal of Gay activists and readily incorporated into progressive policy. This is a somewhat rare exception (being caught, that is)… and if he’s a reliably liberal donor he may still skate on this. Cosby is only catching (deserved) heat because he hasn’t toed the liberal line. Think about Woody Allen, Roman Polanski, Morgan Freeman, and lots of others.

Yes, everybody loves the idea of the death penalty for child molesters. People loved the idea of mandatory life sentences for using a gun in a crime, too – until they realized that criminals aren’t stupid and chose to shoot their way out of bad situations rather than surrender, thus causing a marked increase in police and bystander injuries and fatalities.

Years back, many jurisdictions, in the US, had rape as a capital crime. Then reduced the penalty and rapes increased but rape/murder virtually disappeared.
