The Canadian Standards Association…
…recently hired a new lawyer, joining the half dozen or so lawyers already engaged on RestoreCSA issues. But this new lawyer is unlike the others.
The CSA’s new counsel is Mr. Glen Jennings. He’s a criminal defence attorney.

Roh-roh…
Defense Attorney or not, if he’s a criminal, he belongs in jail!
There may have been a redundancy (intentional or not) in the last line of the quotation.
You hire a criminal defense attorney ONLY to deal with one of two possible situations:
1) “What we’re doing might be dicey, so please tell us exactly how to structure what we are doing in order to stay out of jail while continuing what we’ve been doing.” ….. or …..
2) “We are being investigated and may soon be charged with a criminal offense; we’re hiring you to sit beside us during the interviews so we don’t say anything to make our situation worse.”
I’m betting it’s the latter … and I’m betting that a large, well funded “industry association” now has some heavy duty lawyers barking at the CSA on behalf of that industry association’s members …. AND, that same industry association has been wise enough to make a contribution (and promise an endorsement) to the Tory 2015 federal election campaign, with MORE PROMISED if the right outcome happens. Trust me; that’s how it works.
Fear in high places. Positive sign.
All hail the perp walk whensenior executives, the president and board members are paraded before the world in hand-cuffs and chains because the new lawyer couldn’t save them from jail.
Does “Explody” Joe Morselli do their catering?
