Y2Kyoto: I'll Miss The Penguins

Since the late 1970s, the Arctic has lost an average of 20,800 square miles (53,900 square kilometers) of ice a year; the Antarctic has gained an average of 7,300 square miles (18,900 sq km).
'The planet as a whole is doing what was expected in terms of warming.

Net loss of sea ice: 13,500 sq mi (35,000 sq km)

The gradual warming that was expected has occurred.
It's not alarming, and not unusual for climate change during the past 10,000 years.

Now the satellites are denialists! It never ends....

Update: If you properly set the endpoints in time, you can get statistics to tell you anything you want!

Here we go again. Global cooling means global warming.

Pretty soon the penguins will be able to walk to Rio

The interesting part is these grifters think they will convince the stupids out there that AGW is real by comparing Antarctic ice in the winter with Arctic sea ice in the summer. Did I miss something here?

If you want to see real looney tunes, head over to the Guardian environmental section. Apparently this is the wrong kind of ice.

We watched a silly little video titled "A matter of Degrees" in a nature museum in Tupper Lake NY on the weekend. It started off by saying that 125 million years ago the Adirondacks were much warmer; tapirs and ground sloths and tropical vegetation. Then along came the ice, and more ice...followed by warming. Then, you guessed it - cataclysmic climate change: melting glaciers, rising seas, extinctions - all coming within the next 50 years! Courtesy of us!

When the show ended a serious fellow looked at us, shook his head and said, "Something to think about, huh".

"Yup, It'll be neat to see tapirs in Tupper Lake, eh?"

Ummm we must encourage global warming! We need to melt that ice. Global cooling is forcing penguins to have to walk 40 km further from their rookeries to the seas to find food. Do we want aerobic penguins? We want fat penguins!

Actually, cdw100, I remember after the AGW scientists had to admit that Antarctica's continental ice was getting thicker, soon there were claims this would be bad for penguins because there'd be deeper crevasses that they'd have to navigate. So your comments not that far off from the Green spin.

Don't expect the Globe, Star, CBC or CTV to report this - goes against the alarmist theme.

You beat me to it. Obviously a conspiracy between Big Satellite and Big Camera to dupe us into believing there is more ice down there. They obviously need each other to survive so that has to be it.

Warmist response: the growing Antarctic ice sheets are proof that heat of Global Warming(TM) is being hidden! Somewhere. Just not, unfortunately, in the deep oceans. But it's being hidden! Trust us.

'Part of it is just the geography and geometry. With no northern barrier around the whole perimeter of the ice, the ice can easily expand if conditions are favorable,' he said.

So, anything south of the equator does not have a northern barrier ???
That doesn't make any sense.
Then again, geometry is really hard.

It was in the early part of the 21st Century, when an expanding ice bridge from Antarctica enabled penguins to make it to South America.

From there it was only a matter of time until their ever growing population allowed them to vote themselves into the office of Pres. of the United States.

President Penquin's first political act was to sign into law a bill that allowed the open hunting of sharks, killer whales, sea lions and anything that predated on penguins in the wild.

encyclopedia americana year 2040.

2036 Madagascar became the 57th state....

I remember when the Greentards were loading their pants over the rising water levels that would result from Antarctic ice melt.
I wonder if any of them remember that? Nah. History begins anew every morning for them.

125 million years puts it early Cretaceous , tiny mammals more like rats and mice or possums, Really bad information . Oxygen at 30% and co2 at 6 times current levels, more de
Dino's and big ferns

Might not even had grass at the time
