About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

"Vancouver police warn of a VERY EFFECTIVE batch of heroin"
There, fixed that headline..........
Any heroin that causes fatal overdoses is GOOD heroin.
Give the junkies free morphine, as much as they want as often as they want. The ones who OD are now out of the health care system, ...big savings. The ones who don't OD will no longer need to do crimes to support their habit, less petty crime.
Everybody wins except the drug lords and their pet politicians.
No thread on HEROIN would be complete without the Velvet Underground song of the same name. It's relatively long so just listen from minute 4:19 to minute 5:00. It really says it all.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffr0opfm6I4
I first heard this song in the mid sixties and, being in California and the Bay Area, I thought it was glorifying Heroin. Friends and acquaintances wanted to try it. I had other worries (like the draft and the war). Some 40 years later, I'm not so sure what the message is.....a mixed message perhaps.
I any case, government supporting the habit is the wrong approach. My idea for a cure is that you load up a dozen or so in a helicopter and take them to a wilderness area 150 miles from anywhere. Survival supplies, yes. A guide, yes. Heroin, no. Then they walk out to civilization in 4or 5 weeks and are cured....or they die on the trail.
Now we know what happened to SDA Troll LAS.
Well, Neil Young, warts and all, told the tale his way.

Vote for Justin!

In a rational world not run by idiots that method would be preferred.
My suggestion to let them OD is based on the real world, and what would be the most economical way to significantly reduce the drug problem. Why keep chronic addicts alive? Let them leave by the method they love, free will, nobody'e 'human rights' are infringed.
There has only been ONE fatal overdose.
The rest have been rescued by our free health care system and will live on to do it again another day.
One year ago;
"10 years marks a sustained commitment by the Vancouver Network of Drug Users (VANDU), and the Portland Hotel Society and many others who never shied away from the belief that drug users have human rights, dignity and a right to access health care."
http://www.libbydavies.ca/blog/2013/9/18/marking-10th-anniversary-insite#.VD8-gWddVr0
Yeah Libby, they do.
But for how long ???
It is all fine and dandy to throw your tax dollars at junkies when your disposable income is large enough that you do not notice.
But when you are deciding between heating or eating, an addict's woes do not garner much sympathy.
Ages ago I had my own blog. I once wrote that drug addiction and the loosening of drug laws tantamount to the perfect Socialist dependence state whereby the masses are to doped up and stupid to care and think for themselves.
The lefties came to comment and the politest insult I got called was a square.
Best drug song ever, " how do you think it feels " .
Lou Reed, just after leaving the Velvet Underground;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTvd01IfQVs
The whole album is excellent.
BTW, I first saw Lou at the Masonic Auditorium in Detroit. Mitch Ryder opened for him and sang "Rock and Roll" in Lou's encore.
Oh Noes! Someone put potentially lethal drugs in my potentially lethal drugs.
"using heroin is a dangerous business..." No wonder the loony left is so down on business, they haven't a clue what the word really means.
Paul >
We need to start negotiating drug laws with the Liberal left.
#1. We give them all the free and legal poison they want to crank in their veins and we get Concealed Carry rights!
#2. We give them the legal right to grown all the pot in their homes they wish, and we get Castle Laws.
#3. We give them the right to beg for money on the street, and we get Stand Your Ground.
This could work.
So to sum up, the "progressive" vision of our health care system is to kill (sorry, "abort") babies on demand, kill (sorry, "euthanize") the elderly & sick on demand, but keep junkies alive and give them safe rooms to shoot up.
Sick. Twisted. Indefensible.
Nothing moves me less than when I hear that a parasitical, hard core drug user kacks. That is one less zombie on the street.
Kissing the druggies asses, which is what is going on in Vancouver .... gets you a lot more druggie ass to kiss in the future. That is happening too.
Everything human do MUST be incentivized or no one will do anything .... If you want people to do drugs ... then make it easy, even desirable, but putting up housing, food, shelters, welfare, medical services, counselling and of course, a safe injection site ... .... etc ALL ON OTHER PEOPLES HARD EARNED MONEY.
I we simply stop treating them as sick and treat them as derelict, criminal, dangerous to our society and don 't fund them ... we will get a lot less of them ... that is a fact ... less compassionate of course, but very much smarter for the general welfare of the population.
A government that allows people to live a relatively comfortable life as a drug zombie ... is NOT government that cares about it's citizens.
Vote for Justin Clouseau ... he truly doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself ..... you abandon your family and hit the streets high as a fly and you will get all the support you need. Ya ... great idea.
Yup, exactly - they can be eulogized the same way people are when they e.g. base-jump and end up having to be scraped off the pavement: "he died doing what he loved, and what's wrong with that?"
And a big +1 and THANK YOU to all the other refreshing truths being aired in this thread. "Entitled to dignity," I love it. With a needle hanging out of your arm and your brain frozen in neutral for hours, or turning tricks on East Hastings, you want us to see dignity? FOAD.
