The Tolerant Left

Believe it, baby;

"The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding that a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity, or criticism about Annise Parker." "Any failure to reply to the subpoenas could mean that the ministers will be held in contempt of court." It must be noted that Annise Parker is the city's first openly lesbian mayor.

Fascism from the left, at its best...

As the Lord said unto the hermaprodites, go fornicate yourselve Annise.

Next it will be made compulsory - Bob Hope

And many of the 'offending' churches are black ones (just like during California's SSM referendum) so we're also in for some Dem on Dem action.

So when is she going to demand that all the Imams in Mosques submit their sermons? Islam is not exactly a gay friendly religion. Come to think of it, I don't see a whole lot of gays demanding wedding cakes from Muslim bakers.

So what happened to the spirited Texans of the Alamo?

Pretty friggen sad, a murderous Ebola carrying felon from Africa has more rights in today’s Texas than it’s taxpaying citizens.

The good news is that it will come to an end some day for these Liberal freaks, it's simply "unsustainable living".

"The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding that a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity, or criticism about Annise Parker."

Is this even legal?

Surely it is a constitutional matter well above the mandate of a municipal government.

And yes, the African-American dynamic will be worth a watch. That is one of the least "gay-friendly" demographics in the US. Ever notice how the LGBT+ "community" is almost overwhelmingly white?

"This is Houston, we've lost contact"

The story here is not the left - they embrace fascism, the reals story here is the courts enforcing fascist demands against a constitutional protection for freedom of religion and speech.

The asshat who signed the court order should be pilloried and whipped - this would occur in a more moral and ethical age where the constitution reigned

"Is this even legal?"

Words and terms such as "legal" or "constitutional" have no meaning in Obamba's America.

If you want to see some really cool military style tactical equipment up close, all you need to do is gather a few friends together and exercise your "right to free speech" outside of any municipal building.

If they're so interested in their sermons, they should bloody well go to church.

Well, I'm sure that the churches and their congregations will organize a massive demonstration and paralyze downtown Houston until the law is repealed, right?

Of course it's from the left, that's the origin of fascism and of the lie that fascism is of the right wing of the political spectrum.)

"The good news is that it will come to an end some day for these Liberal freaks, it's simply "unsustainable living"."

Knight, exactly.

Good points in all of the above. We must submit to the new aristocracy.

Hugh Hewitt has a great question with, "Is this United States of America or Castro's Cuba or the old Soviet Union..."

It does appear that freedom of religion and of conscience is slowly being eroded and will become against the law at some point.

Jamie MacMaster said:: "Well, I'm sure that the churches and their congregations will organize a massive demonstration and paralyze downtown Houston until the law is repealed, right?"

Point well taken. It brings to mind a poem fragment: "This is how the world ends, not with a bang but a whimper."

Or, a golden Oldie from the 1960's, "What if they gave a war and nobody came?"

Upon a tiny bit of research, this fragment of mawkish and idiotic 1960's anti-war sentiment turns out to be very interesting. Like most of the BS and propaganda from that era, it is a line stolen from a poem which means the exact opposite of what the thieves intended.

"What if they gave a war and nobody came?
Why, then, the war would come to you!
He who stays home when the fight begins
And lets another fight for his cause
Should take care:
He who does not take part
In the battle will share in the defeat.
Even avoiding battle will not avoid battle.
Since not to fight for your own cause
Really means
Fighting on behalf of your enemy's cause."

Bertold Brecht.

Behold, this is the war coming to us. Not going to turn aside just because Christians don't show up to riot, of this we may be sure.

And by the way. For all the "read until offended" crowd, none of this has anything to do with gays, ok? This is a pure abuse-of-office power play by some mini-Hitler beeotch. If a straight white male pulled a stunt like this it would be international top-of-the-fold news. That it is not merely indicates how utterly full of sh1t you are.

"Pretty friggen sad, a murderous Ebola carrying felon from Africa has more rights in today’s Texas than it’s taxpaying citizens."

This is what happens when a country has been "fundamentally transformed". Congrats President Ebolee.

This is just like when the City of Chicago subpoenaed Trinity United Church in Chicago for sermons containing racist hate speech....

Going on step further. There is no sense in merging church and state, like Islam. Let's just cut off the middle man,and erase the church, period.Forward with hope and change!

The best move here from the Pastors perspective is to not even fight the court battle since that would suggest that they acknowledge the authority of the courts to pass judgement on such matters. And never, ever, under any circumstance comply with the subpoenas. See what happens when American clergy are thrown in prison because they will not submit their sermons to a politician for approval.

Getting governmental imprimaturs on sermons is so 17th century. Who are the regressive neanderthal's now, lefties?

Dan marion:Liberal in US such as george sorrow need to fix drug inititive use those people with crack meth must locked for 3. Years to stop their eddiction replaced medication. Gays supply and dmand they follow your sons and daughters like prosti. Tue follow naked your daughters ganag ask pop francis in vatican US has lots of problem all crack caused shooting worldwide delusion lead crime

Seriously though, the Pastors should just call thier county Sheriff and have her arrested.

Now that would send a message.

"Dem on Dem action" ... hillarious, love it!

Would that we were .... The Democratic Party would simply not permit any action against an African-American pastor or congregation unless that pastor were publicly and firmly aligned with the Republicans. No, any enforcement will be selective, as you might expect, and aimed almost exclusively at white, conservative pastors, particularly those with deep-pocketed congregations.

Just as has been mentioned about Ebola, it's probably nothing.

The delicious irony is that the Church has the responsibility to love those who are worthy of ridicule for their hate and suppression of living out the truth while those who are desperately trying to justify their "unnatural" lifestyle do nothing but suppress the truth and intimidate and use the law to bulky those who speak anything contrary to their "beliefs".

Houston you have a problem.

Being a lesbian is due to a genetic defect, just like being a leftist is due to a genetic defect.

That's why these genetically defective people like each other so much.

Houston you have a problem.

I love to think of these people listening to sermon after sermon as a part of their work.

Your optimism is encouraging. From where I'm standing the war is over and the last decade+ has been a loop tape of football spiking. Short version - 40ish years ago everything was shook up. By the 90s it was settled down, stragglers picked off and stuff started getting consolidated. It's not changing again without another big shake up, and that's probably not happening without a big external event. In the spirit of avoiding mass human suffering, we're still far better off putting up with tranny teachers and the snowcow sheocracy.

An anonymous comment said it best:

"This is the sort of thing that politicians should actually be charged with and imprisoned for if found guilty of even attempting to violate constitutional rights."

Can you impeach a mayor?

As a pastor I have two concerns with this nonsense. One obviously is the attempt by the state to control what is said from the pulpit. From past experiences I don't know what words or combination of words is going to touch someone's soul and often when the Spirit is flowing I don't know the words I am speaking nor do I remember saying them. Sometimes going back over my sermon notes I will think to myself "Well that doesn't make any sense" yet I will have had some parishioner talk to me with tears in their eyes telling me how moved they were by the words I spoke.

However and this is my second beef, I try with all my heart to NEVER bring in politics nor do I suggest courses of action (petitions etc) to effect political change.

Oh and one more thing the state has no business asking for sermons etc.

from reading other web sites it seems only the Christian churches were issued with writs. isn't that religious bigotry and discrimination if other churches, aka synagogues, temples and mosques were not also hit?

Update: Mayor has backed off... for now
---------------------------------------------
After calling church sermons “fair game” for subpoena, Houston Mayor Annise Parker backed down Wednesday from the city’s effort to force local pastors to turn over speeches and papers related to a hotly contested transgender rights ordinance.
