The Penguins Are Our Future

Create classroom names and then ask all of the 'purple penguins' to meet on the rug' a training manual advises.

I din't have the slightest doubt that when they emptied the nut houses to save money a couple decades ago, that all the inmates drifted into the teaching profession where they would blend right in. There is no other logical reason for the mind numbing idiocy that now permeates the education system.

Well said.

And yet Glenn Beck is the crazy one.

Yeah, euthanizing the dog in Spain is a cryin' ass shame, but people are dying...

LISTEN UP!

Everything has a colour....

Pity, restraint and even hesitation have a colour....red....

I've seen it spilled on the floor too many times.

t'aint right,.... t'aint wrong,..... just is........

Purple penguin?

How ironic! That's my pet name for the "little rzr"...

Now if you call out to the little one the whole class will come running.

PC is a psychosis - treat it as such.

These people don't need a podium or authority they need institutionalization and therapy - at the very least they should be dismissed as fools and removed from positions where they have control over anything more evolved than a house cat - and chances are they can even drive that poor creature psychotic with their insane ultimatums

media are so upset that their coverage of jt will be used in Conservative truth ads.
they are ok when ndp or liberals use their material.
level playing field not much

The mind numbing idiocy is deliberate. Apart for being state-run child-minding institutions, necessary because the state take 50% of all earned income, necessitating both parents work, schools are also an important part of the socialist, Gramasci, project to destroy the family and other traditional institutions, to eradicate meaning.

As always, the real story is the dumb, mute acceptance by the parents. The mediocrity is the message. Or, maybe it's more like mesmerisation.

You can call children 'purple penguins' but you cannot call a football team the 'Redskins.'

Sending your children to public school is a form of child abuse.

When your (post)modern-day moral and intellectual superiors say, for example, that Johnny is a boy, or a penguin, that the Earth's atmosphere is warming, that Major Hasan committed workplace violence, that 2+2=4, and so on, they adopt the manner and form of one asserting a matter of fact. They follow the rules of assertion. In standard practice, which evolved down through the ages in order to serve certain of our important purposes, the rules of assertion include the responsibility on the part of one who asserts to be reasonably confident of the truth of what they assert. Why the requirement that speakers be justified in what they say? Because the practice of making statements carries with it an invitation to one's audience to believe what one says. And, since what one believes can have important consequences for how one's life plays out, assertion bears a measure of responsibility for its consequences. (That's why we ought to be careful in what we assert, no?)

But despite the manner and form of assertion, your betters are not asserting matters of fact. They are in another line of business entirely, although they are not candid about the differences. That we rubes and they the high priests are in rather different lines of business explains why we almost always talk past each other; why we fail, that is, to have genuine debates and conversations, and why, therefore, it is almost always a waste of time to engage them in serious conversation. For the (post)modern liberal, the debates over global warming, Islamic terrorism, the sex of a child, and so on, are not debates over matters of fact that we are trying to divine by careful enquiry. (This is why this morning's excitement over Hasan's letter to the Pope is so tiresome: there never was any real question about his motives, and so the letter is irrelevant to the controversy.) They, unlike you, have seen, they assure us, all the way to the bottom of the universe. (They've been to college, don't you know.) There they discovered that matters of fact do not exist "out there" in the world, so the speak, independently of us and our language. The world of facts, they claim (or sneer thusly: "facts"; "reality") is a fiction, and a nefarious one at that, since it was invented by white men to oppress "the other". To fail to see this profound (and rather too-convenient) truth, is to choose to forever be a victim of an oppressive reality that includes things like biology, including sex and race, physics, including gravity (see Sokal) and climate, and mathematics and logic. So, like Humpty Dumpty, they ask us to choose who is to be master, who the slave. Will we, the most precious things in the universe, accept our god-like role as creators of reality, or will we remain its victims. We can create our lives entirely out of our hopes and wishes. All we need do to make it so is to say it, together! And since we can, we must, if we are to fully realize our godly natures. To do otherwise, they claim, is to choose the life of a slave. Once liberated from all that bad old-fashioned man-thinking, we can get busy putting government to work overcoming the tyrannies of sex, race and the rest of reality. (Look, you have to ignore the contradictions if you're going to get along, m'kay? You don't want to be a slave of logic, do you?)

So, when the (post-)modern liberal speaks in the manner and form of one who asserts, he is, instead prescribing for you what you should believe if you are to be one of them. He is telling you how to get along. And since they now run almost everything, if you choose not to go along, you should expect a visit from the IRS or its equivalent. That you want no part of this tyrannical fantasy is testament to your sound, but entirely old-fashioned, judgement.

(Their mistake, you all will have seen, is to think that we have the choice they lay before us, the choice between your old-fashioned reality and their new and improved fantasy.)

Banana patch mambo.

The original Steve Martin mention of this dirty trick we can play on kids so they are so screwed up they cannot understand their own language .... sad, but this makes Steve something of a sage ... who could imagine it could happen here? doe doe dote n doe doe.

The current system should be replaced by one that is online. This would rid us of the vastly overpaid and incompetent so-called teachers. Children without access to computers could be provided for from the funds saved for salaries and from the sale of school properties. Incorporate a fact, not opinion, based curriculum. Problems with comprehension to be handled by a phone in and/or online system run by the private sector. All our educational problems began when the teachers' unions, the employees, started telling the gov't, the employee, what they were going to do & how they were going to do it, and if they didn't like it they would use coercion, ie by going on strike, to get their way. Try that in the private sector and see how far you get. Same with libraries. Put all the books online. Done.
Those pseudo-scientist practitioners known as psychiatrists, psychoanalysts et al love to make things complicated to make them seem useful. If you're born with a penis you are a boy/male, vagina girl/female.It doesn't matter if your head is cross wired and you think otherwise. Facts are facts.
After we shoot all the lawyers, these clowns are next. It would be hard on the residents of Hollywood, where "shrinks" have been replaced by "analysts", but too bad. The sooner that place drops into the ocean the better.

"The current system should be replaced by one that is online."

Here, here, I second that motion. The "Box" public school was a solution thought of over a century and a half ago that made sense then. It's time has come and gone as the solution to education.

And no doubt the teachers are known as the Bi-Polar Bears

It really helps to have Mennonites in your community to realize how far things have spiraled down the gender toilet in the last twenty or thirty years.

Their young folks still carry on conversations without the sickeningly omnipresent "like", and the hackneyed "Oh my God", and that grating rising pitch at the end of each sentence...all delivered in a contrived cute-little-girl-on-deathbed tone. And that's modern, teen-aged BOYS I'm talking about!

You want a good laugh? Watch an Ottawa TV "Man-on-the-street" interview.

It really is child abuse. What if a child insists on using "he" and "she"? If he or she got into trouble for it, that would really be child abuse.
