The Children Are Our Future

And that's why I'm installing window security bars: Convicted Philadelphia cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal has been selected as the commencement speaker for a Vermont college.

I can only roll my eyes.

"One college student’s pedophilic mass murdering rapist is another college student’s freedom fighter."

To recall a comment of crystal clarity from a treteast on millinials - perhaps the explanation for the upcoming generation's morbid irrationality is that they are primarily effete urban twits with no connection to objective reality.

"...no connection to objective reality."

And we have to use a adjective to qualify the notion of reality when we say that they are not connected to it. We are a long way out.

Knight 99, great quote.

I watched Megan Kelly interview the wife of the slain officer killed by this revolutionary, and the student rep of the school. This killer is now a revolutionary and the student seemed to agreed with this ideology.

After the brilliant commencement address by the convicted cop killer, the graduates, unable to
find jobs, will start an Occupy movement in New York City and parade around with " Free Mumia"
posters.

Only in America.

""Choosing Mumia as their commencement speaker, to me, shows how this newest group of Goddard graduates expresses their freedom to engage and think radically and critically in a world that often sets up barriers to do just that."

I want to see Eric Rudolph at the next meeting of inclusiveness.

No link. Broadly related.
I see that a US college, in its very first sex week, is offering a seminar on threesomes.
The promotion includes the amusing phrase: How to negotiate threesomes.

Yeah well, every generation has decried that the next is a waste of space and skin.

What disturbs me is that for the first time in history, we (out generation) might be right.

"And we have to use a adjective to qualify the notion of reality when we say that they are not connected to it. We are a long way out."

Well according to most of the classic philosophers we were once made to study in college, there IS objective reality (that truth which is external to ourselves and verifiably by fact based on what is available to the 5 senses), just as there IS "subjective" reality (that truth manufactured by oneself and which resides only in one's mind, which is used to fill in gaps in fact - objective reality - and logic), much like unreasoned reaction to unfamiliar realities - none of which will be apparent to Millenials because their devolved schooling deprives them of things like Plato's allegory of the cave , which demonstrates the difference between the 2 realities - both of which are commonly expressed with a pertinent adjective - old dead white guy stuff, I know, boooooring right? Look it up.

the upcoming generation's morbid irrationality is that they are primarily effete urban twits with no connection to objective reality.

That certainly seems to be the case with the one's I've met. Like sasquatch says they're "a waste of space and skin."

Ken (Kulak) >

Too be sure Ken.

Yes it bogles the mind. I don't know, somehow trying to understand todays youth reveals the definition of "despair".

The Delaware professor who is suggesting that the outbreak of Ebola in Africa is an American imperialist plot to kill off Africans so that they can steal their resources is an example of the sort of lunacy that is all to common on university campuses in the United States and Canada today. Some search committee recommended the hiring of this loon, and one or more tenure and promotion committees kept him at the University.

He should be flown to Liberia immediately to comfort the suffering victims.

I would say that "objective reality" is redundant - there is no other kind! "Subjective reality" is just perception, and if it differs from plain old "reality", something is distorting the truth.
I can enjoy and appreciate deep philosophical discussions, but for their amusement value only. Pure mental masturbation, IMHO.
