Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson has a close relationship with the charity, and was once on the board at Hollyhock Farms Ltd. Hollyhock's main beneficiary TIDES Canada is also close to the mayor - their leadership have personally contributed to Robertson's campaigns, TIDES USA raised the property value of the mayor's Cortes Island home by purchasing 150 acres next-door. But, until yesterday, there has been no smoking gun about Hollyhock's political activities.

Lefty has grown deep tentacles into the charity biz to fund disruptive political activity - take a scan of the "charities" who shirt tail on the united way list and then look at the "partners" - unions and lefty political action wings.

Leave it to lefty to find a lucrative con cloaked in moral pretension.

Holy Mackerel! Here's the 2013 figures from Hollyhock's (LI - The Leadership Institute)2013 Rev Can filing.

Total Revenue: $2,089,259
Total Expenditures: $2,050,513
Research grants and scholarships as part of charitable activities: $93,440

Now I'm certainly no accountant, and I may be missing something, but I figured it out that for every dollar this charity took in, a whopping 4.47 cents of it went to what might be described as charitable works.

I wonder if W5 or Marketplace or another one of those crusading/investigative documentary TV series would look into this?

Ya don't think so, eh?

re: Total Revenue: $2,089,259

For a summer job back in 1972 I was a commercial clam digger on Cortes. I asked a local, who drove the propane delivery truck, where all the cars coming off the ferry with California plates heading to. "To the retreat." What's a retreat? " It's a place where rich Americans go to howl at the moon and whip the trees with chains." I guess I was just too young to see a good business opportunity.
Whipping trees with a bit of chain sounded like more fun than howling at the moon.
Bet they don't get to do that nowadays.

Tides is one of those money laundering "charities" where the corporate / foundation donors don't want to be publicly associated with the ultimate recipient. The corporate green theocracy (ENGOs) crowd will always find innovative ways to boost their political clergy like Mayor Robertson, Governor Brown-out and President Obomugabe.

it is only criminal or corrupt if a conservative does it. everybody must know that by now. much like the constant undermining of Christianity there is a concerted effort to make being or doing anything conservative, a crime.
