It's Probably Nothing

Don't panic. It's really, really hard to catch.

The woman, named by Spanish media outlets as Teresa Romero Ramos, told the paper she took the right precautions in helping to care for a Spanish missionary who was infected with Ebola in West Africa and who died after being brought to the hospital where she worked.

Was she worried she might have contracted the disease after helping with his care?

"Well, no, not at all," she told El Mundo. . . .

Five people were under observation in a hospital Wednesday -- the woman's husband, judged to be at high risk of infection; a nurse from the same hospital admitted Wednesday morning after showing symptoms; another nurse's assistant who worked on the same team as the infected woman and was admitted late Tuesday with a fever; a nurse who has tested negative for the virus and is expected to be discharged Wednesday; and an engineer who returned from Nigeria, who also has tested negative and is set to be discharged.

Does anyone else remember Toronto being locked down because of SARS?

There is absolutely nothing to worry about here Oh and we need to kill your dog. Just in case you know. Surely you understand that we cannot quarantine it or something. http://news.yahoo.com/spanish-nurse-ebola-dog-184950600.html

The 21st century. Gone backwards in a big way. Post scientific age.

#2 now in Dallas - early rumours say it's someone who was involved in cleaning the apartment the dead guy stayed in or a cop who was there in the apartment.

A lot of researchers tend to the opinion that continuous
influenza mutations are more often than not the result of
Asian rice growing practices which involve the use of ducks
to combat rice paddy weeds and provide additional fertilizer
at the same time. After the paddies are drained and harvested,
it is a common practice for pigs to be turned loose to "harvest"
the left behind duck manure on the now drying out paddy bottoms.

Pigs are purpose built by mother nature to metabolize the nutrition
still available in all kinds of feces to the max and have robust
immune systems that can combat all threats to a great extent, but
not always. So new unique pig flu shows up sometimes because of the
virus mutation factory the pig's inner works represent.

To frame it as delicately as possible, in much of the third world,
"free ranging pigs" and stray dogs compete for treats left by humans
and other animals. This system can even include regular visits to formal
outdoor toilets in rural and built up areas. And if a pig mutated a "hard
to catch" delicate virus into something a lot tougher and more robust that
could ride air currents for days and then infect large numbers of people?

Wonder if pigs are common in areas experiencing Ebola control difficulties?
Does offal and waste from butchering bush meat wind up inside pigs?

No Peter, don't remember it being locked down. In fact, I don't remember any type of large scale quarantine at all.

Peter, IIRC, there was a WHO travel advisory for Toronto during the SARS epidemic.

I do remember travel advisories from third-world infectious hellholes to the effect that their citizens
should avoid Toronto because it was a third-world infectious hellhole.

Do other people find the Director of the Centers for Disease Control to be a babbling idiot?

Even Saudi Arabia has the basic survival sense to ban travel from Africa,

I'm not worried because only medical personnel in hazmat suits seem to get this. That and Obama said they've got it under control.

"Post scientific age."

An excellent observation.

Trade mark it and get a copyright.

Das Steynmeister has nailed the absurd stupidity of it all.

Just arrived in Beijing with mrs.cal2

No signs of Ebola here. Suspect they will shut the borders here faster than bambam can get to the tee box

Smokiest place we have ever been

I would feel much safer if our political class were as concerned about the spread of Ebola as they are the spread of IL/IS. The spread of this disease to Europe and North America is entirely the result of negligent border control and the same political correctness infecting our disease control functions. There is but one source to blame for the spread of this disease to to this continent and it is the authority who sets border policy. Ebola, like Islamist Jihad have the same cure - isolation. Close the border to both.

There should be no flights or travel FROM any Ebola infected region (Including the US)immediately until this disease is contained!

It's hard to get through to these policy zombies who are possessed by the PC psychosis, that microbes are the original diversity killer - matters not what color race or creed you are, Ebola will kill you dead - let's hope when this gets really out of control that the first to go are the Pols who LET THIS HAPPEN.

ISIS is the shiny thing the Dems are using to get elected in November. After Nov. 3 you're never going to hear about ISIS again.

I speculate that the farce at the American southern border will also cease on November 3rd. Even a liberal politician can figure out that letting a fatal disease into the country on purpose is not a career builder.

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. Maybe if some of these fools stopped and figured out what they were doing, we wouldn't get so many "showing the syptome" notices.

The MSM is again spreading false information, the Canadian Antidote (ZMAPP) is available (in storage @ WPG but promised to WHO,)but the WHO is not using the only known CURE. Why the US did not request the Canadian Government(PMH)for emergency access to a dose for Duncan is criminal. The US media is lying when they say the antidote does not exist

The Medical Association in America may be guilty of Manslaughter, if they are blocking use of the only know antidote because of US pharmaceutical interests. Remember the 2 US Doctors, cured, received the SMAPP in Africa before they arrived in America

The Media should be leading every Newscast with the truth.
