Don Newman, former senior parliamentary editor for the CBC and recipient of the Order of Canada, finds himself highly amused by Justin Trudeau's juvenile quip about Canada's contribution to stopping mass atrocities.

About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

How's anybody going to stop what been going on for 1400 years?
Apparently, not the people directly affected.
"...helping them through this very, very difficult time."
Just how does Shiny Pony propose to do that with humanitarian aid when they are faced with fanatics who want to kill them? Does he expect to stop slavery and human trafficking with food packs?
The Dippers at least have a clear and coherent position, and a rational one at that. It may be one that leaves us reprehensible in the eyes of all decent nations, but at least it is logical. But this pusillanimous dink has no position at all.
Don Newman; Haven't watched/listened to him for decades, since I completely moved the CBC from our viewing interests. ( I must mention the Ionic/Archaic CBC logo does show up on FOX frequently with the CBC many commercials on FOX.)
Anyway any credibility Mr. Newman had as far as Canadian Political insight faded over the years during any Federal Election. This is when Peter Mansbridge and his Entourage took over the Political Programme and relegated Newman to the convention floor as a "floor monkey".
Of course Mansbridge's relativity to CBC Power (except for approx. One million $ in salary) was revealed when Mansbridge tried to make a story out of President Bush being taken to safe spot during the immediate aftermath of 911. Dear Peter was in the middle of a derogatory rant about "W" when his chain was yanked on camera to back off. Still remember his fumbling and uncertainty. Not Bush's! Manbridge's melt down. "I didn't mean to make any trouble look" normally saved for BIG meetings with CBC real Elites.
I digress too much; anyway Librano Leader, after throwing his Father's main acolyte "a truth is a truth" under the bus and then searching for the correct camera to look, as Trudeau Jr. has been advised to do when on T.V., The Shiny Pony revealed how out-of-date the advice his American Democratic Party handlers are with current events. The young and the normally compliant Baby Boomers are not in tune with this "we must spend Taxpayer $$$ to save the world.
Thanks for bringing this slice of CBC meandering, didn't think good old Don Newman was still taking Taxpayer $$ and would have never known if y'all hadn't brought it to my attention. Cheers;
Not surprising. Newman has always been a Lib shill, no different than his replacement on CBC's PnP.. And speaking of which, notice the bogus CBC poll that pits humanitarian aid against combat in terms of the options available to cast your vote. It's not an either-or proposition. The options should have been "yes", "no", and "not sure" to a combat roll and specifically airstrikes.
http://www.cbc.ca/newsblogs/politics/inside-politics-blog/2013/05/power-politics-ballot-box-question-261.html
But by inserting "humanitarian aid" as an option, it shows the CBC's stated intent of trying to drive down support for the gov't's position because, really, who opposes humanitarian aid?
MikeSr, Newman is the former senior parliamentary editor for the CBC; he's apparently (semi) retired now.
So I send a bag of rice and a 120 teabags, and these sub-humans will suddenly submit? No more rapes, murders, terrorism, genocide? WOW. Where do I sign up?
And just what is a "mass" atrocity?
If you can't figure it out, Google "mass atrocity" and you'll get 2 million results. Pick one of them.
I can't watch that vacuous idiot without gnashing my teeth in frustration at his total non-understanding of....well....anything!
What do you suggest Canada do,JT, operate a "Katimavik'' program in Iraq?
This kid is dangerously ignorant, Canadians who can't see that must be either in full swoon over his hair and teeth,or be abysmally unperceptive.
If I see another comment on the web that "Canada needs Justin Trudeau"....I'd have to answer "FOR WHAT"?!
Lots of hot air out of that JT fella.
I get a LOT more out of archival pictures of Maggie's beaver. Serious.
Thanx EB;. thought he looked as long in the tooth as yours truly. Don't know if he is still on the taxpayer's dime, presumably he received something for this interview. Hey! maybe he is a subcontractor for the Democratic Party of America. Cheers;
You gotta hand it to Justine.
He sticks to his lack of principles.
Even if they chopped off his head, I would imagine it continuing to utter nuanced platitudes. "We need to be sensitive to what led to these actions," said the severed head. "I don't want to rush to judgment."
Mulcair on the other hand would just try to reason with them in that annoying tone of voice that has even non-Islamists looking around for a sharp object.
that don has the order of Canada shows how much it is worth.
don, much like the average American, abysmally unperceptive as well as ignorant. we have become what we have always accused americans of. we are stupid. or at least far too many of us. my relatives in the US would disagree with on some points.
Don't want to defend the airhead but it is certainly valid to ask whether or not a combat role there is advisable. I say no.
Let the damn Arabs sort it out and drastically reduce or eliminate muslim immigration
Secure the homeland and do monster 10x force in revenge for direct hits on us on our territory.
Even if I thought a military intervention was warranted I would still be against the intervention of the keystone coppery of the US military which should stay the fkuc out of it.
It is unable to even understand the conflict let alone end it.
The US military is hopelessly politicized and corrupted by PC lunacy.
IT COULD NOT DEFEAT THE TALIBAN after a time period twice as long as WW2.
So JT's comments are partially sound (except of course for the humanitarian aid, which the damn Arabs should be providing too).
Awwww, go easy on Mr. Giggles now. I mean, how seriously can you take a fellow who looks like Sam I Am?
"who opposes humanitarian aid?"
I do.
Next year's election debates will be worth making a lot of popcorn for.
Mulcair (bah!) and PMSH will slay JT in the debates. Shallow, vacuous airhead.
That was strange. Part way through why does JT stop looking at The Don and start talking to the camera?
"FOR WHAT"?!
Comic relief?
A pinching bag for Mr Harper.
A living advertisement for abortion "rights".
That is one amateur bad interview, why JT keeps looking & talking to his left suggests that someone else, not seen, is on the Set. He is talking to a ghost, or the teleprompter was set up WRONG.. CBC has a lot to learn because that type of flaw makes JT look annoying to viewers..Turn OFF
Mr Butts Butt to be sure to the left.
Guess I didn't ask the question just right. Is 2 people murdered today in Cornation a mass atrocity,or is 2 million? Atrocity and mass are the wrong words. But no surprise. That is what is "taught" these days. And is a terrifying crime a teen picking a candy bar,or shooting their schoolmate? It's time we stopped allowing the laftards(pun) to move the goal posts through language.
There was a live audience, they were rattling their jewelry, and feeling uncomfortable.
The poor dears.
Possibly even a new bride who needed some warming up.
