It happened here when the Progressive Conservatives were more liberal than the Liberals. Unfortunately for the Reform/Alliance Party was while they could beat everyone else, the couldn't beat the Media Party.

True. I'd like to add that because people were hidebound to keep voting PC, we got 3 terms of the Little Liar from Shawinigan and one from Paul Martin until these people were shocked into lifting up their heads and surveying the new political landscape by Liberal scandals, real scandals like Adscam.

For good reason did Nigel Farage come here to Canada to talk to Preston Manning and review the history of the Reform Party/movement.
UKIP plans on doing the same and Godspeed to them.

Reading the comments following O'Sullivan's article I couldn't help but chuckle with the commenter that hopes this Ukip victory will travel across the pond. As Oz notes above their new found ideals have already crossed the pond because it started here in Canada West twenty odd years ago. We can only hope that these ideals finally break through the misinformation curtain that the MSM has erected here in North America. Blogs like SDA and others have helped to lead the way to rent this curtain, and now the SUN and FOX networks have begun to sound the trumpet. Hopefully PM Harper can take this Ukip victory as a sign to continue on his path and press forward with his Canadian plans, as they seem to be gathering adherents in the Mother of all Parliaments.
