Clued Right Out

Naomi Wolf has some "interesting" views of what's happening in the world these days. Here's an example:

Her initial posts on ISIS repeatedly stated that confirmation of the authenticity of their beheading videos "has not happened yet." Wolf said that the media was ignoring "journalistic red flags" in that the sole source of the videos had been "SITE, which is run by an anti-Muslim activist with half a million dollars in US funding in 2004." (In fact, the videos were widely distributed on open-source jihadist online outlets. Maryland-based nonprofit SITE monitors extremist social media.) She also detailed an alleged incident, which I was not able to confirm, of a website "based in Doha, address registered at a private intelligence firm in the UK" that she said had spread news of a Canadian journalist, who turned out not to exist, taken hostage in Syria.

Considering the large numbers of middle eastern people whom IS has beheaded, buried alive, and crucified, it is logical to believe that they weren't faking the beheading of the westerners that they purported to have beheaded ...just because they were westerners.

Naomi Wolf's reasoning must be, "Yeah they did that to all those other people but they wouldn't do that to me and mine."

There are many Canadian journalists who are just as self-serving as this individual

We should start a kickstarter campaign for Naomi. Send her to Syria to investigate these claims first-hand.

And the "so-called" assassinees are not dead, I suppose, but hiding in Norway.

It's obvious Naomi is an idiot, a leftist idiot.

I always get the "Naomis" confused and seldom remember if it's Kline, Wolf or Campbell, that made the last stupid remark. I find it easer to just ignore anything a "Naomi" says. I think it has something to do with the sorts of parents that name a kid Naomi.

She may have the details wrong in this instance, but the concern that news events can be manipulated to advance government agendas would not come as much of a shock to anyone with their eyes open in today's world. The Obama administration needs to be carefully watched until the last moment of their sorry existence. Perhaps a less conspiratorial explanation is that they are deliberately fumbling the ball on both ISIS and ebola in order to create the possibility that events will spiral out of control for their later manipulation. Having a pre-set plan of action is a bit too Alex Jones for my liking, but gradually responding to opportunity is what leftists have done over a long period of time (in which I would include the other kind of leftists who ran Germany for a time). These tendencies to exploit situations for larger agendas can even be found in the sainted Harper government -- does everyone here totally trust the narratives about the gov't needing more control over the internet to catch child pornographers? I find that argument hollow and having dealt with the reality up close and personal, I have to say that some conservatives' apparent ability to ignore clear and present danger (to freedom of speech in Canada) is disturbing.

People have stopped trusting governments and elites in general because of such obvious logical disconnects as the global warming theory. Even around here people don't believe that one, but our government is afraid to say what they may privately believe. I find it really incongruous that we have such a vast "free speech" segment on the internet yet the concept of government brainwashing is so weakly accepted within even that blogosphere, whereas in the wider public opinion the subject is never mentioned and you cannot really tell what the people are truly thinking about various issues of the day, although voting patterns suggest widespread deception and ignorance.

They should send her a severed head so she gets the message. It worked in "The Godfather."

NO!

You can't make me do it.

I will not willingly read anything that Naomi Wolf ever wrote. And I won't willingly watch or listen to anything she says.

"I will not willingly read anything that Naomi Wolf ever wrote. And I won't willingly watch or listen to anything she says."

I feel the same way about the "Reverend" Jesse Jackson and the "Reverend" Al Sharpton. I immediately change the channel when they come on.

Agreed! And I'll add further- on my list: Rick Mercer, Bill Maher, and David Suzuki.

Has to be a horse's head. I wonder if John Kerry is busy doing Secretary of State stuff?

He said head not ass!

I switch whenever the "choomer in chief" steps up to a convenient microphone...

This is why air-lifting liberals to global hot spots and leaving them there is SO important.

Peter, I definitely agree with you in principle but Wolf seems to be wayyyyy out there.

A correction if I may.

She is not an idiot, she is a communist. Full stop! And, she will give all the support to any group that wants to destroy liberal democracy that she can.

That said, Peter O'Donnell does make excellent points. The "softening" of or "jingoist" tweaking of public opinion has been around since at least the 1800s. The course material in my 1990 Athabaska "propaganda course said that the allies lied and jingoed to their public as much as the Germans did. Dalrymple makes the claim in his book that the Bolsheviks/Communists were masters at the art, while the west's people are amateurs.

Here’s a new conspiracy theory –

Naomi Wolf works for the Obamba administration spreading disinformation, along with making up “wild” conspiracy theories to discredit legitimate conspiracy’s revolving around Obamba and the Middle East.

Of course we all know that there is no such thing as conspiracy’s or government disinformation agenda’s. They've told us so.

Please don't link Vox - I don't want to give them any clicks by accident.

"Peter, I definitely agree with you in principle but Wolf seems to be wayyyyy out there."

She's a moonbat. Here endeth the lesson.

I heard Michael Byars on the radio yesterday, spewing the usual and easily refutable AGW talking points - he makes Klein sound reasonable by comparison. IOW there are even worse idiots than she.

@Ken Kulak
Well at least I got the 'leftist' part right.
