Dr. Reese Halter, the self-professed "Earth Doctor" who has a PhD in subalpine Eucalyptus eco-stress physiology, gave a dire warning during an appearance on MSNBC:
...if we continue at this rate, sometime soon after 2030 we will have spent the entire carbon budget for this century. We will then be in the realm of eclipsing 7 degrees Fahrenheit, and it will be an uninhabitable planet for our children. The oceans will shut down. The forests globally will shut down...
The already overcrowded hall of fame, however, will remain open.

The clergy of the green theocracy have a fine tradition to uphold. None apparently want to be accused of prescience. Pimping hysteria should never be confused with successfully predicting the future.
"...the cows will stop giving milk, the chickens will stop laying eggs, and a great pestilence and malaise will descend upon the land... the end of the world is nigh. Repent or feel Gia's wrath"
Deja Moo, we've heard this bulls h i t before. The more strident, desperate, and hyperbolic these nutters are, then the quicker the voting public will marginalize them to the loony extreme and ignore them.
Snake oil salesmen will always be with us. They get an audience and make money on the fears of chicken littles.
That's what politicians are.
So true, but in the past we have depended on laws and legislation to protect us from these snake oil salesmen. Now legislators and mainstream media are among the brainwashed hordes and siding with the perpetrators. The inmates are truly running the asylum and whether the planet is warming, neutral or cooling seems to make little difference in destroying this scam. Just too much money moving behind the scenes and too many chicken littles that truly believe the sky is falling.
It's not all gloom and doom: if the earth is dead at least all these leftie nuts will be quiet.
Somehow though I suspect we will be hearing their BS for a long time to come
"if we continue at this rate" and nothing else changes - ah yes, Malthus again. A good example might be that if a canny Scot had not started selling coal to replace wood for heating, Elizabeth I might have reigned over a de-populated England.
Bovine fl@ulence levies NOW! WORLD CAN'T WAIT!!
I am freezing my backside here in MN on Oct 1.
If we really are using too much carbon,
WHERE IS THE WARMTH?!?!
There we have it, the end days are approaching and it's all our fault, not sure yet if we're going to freeze or fry but in these parts freeze would be my guess.
If we don't get busy, listen to the great Shiny Pony and and tax carbon, everywhere but China of course, where old nutter supreme, Maurice Strong lives in wait and watch for the Eco nuts to shut down industrialized nations.
We better get those oil wells shut down, no pipelines, collapse the economy then we'll ask the same idiots how they're going to survive.
"It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future." Yogi Berra
Typical of the "information" one is subjected to on MSLSD
memo to dr. halter. the earth will cool by 1.5 degrees by 2032.
deja moo and bull sh-t. good one I have not heard it before.
I don't know about you folks, but I wouldn't trust MY eucalyptus to this fool.
"Ted Turner in an address to the Society of Environmental Journalists in Chattanooga – blamed Christianity for overpopulation and environmental degradation, and argued that the people who disagree with him are 'dummies.'"
Turner: "The Judeo-Christian religion says man was given dominion over everything, and his salvation was that he was to go out and increase and multiply. Well, we have done that … to the point where in Calcutta, it’s a hellhole. So it’s not an environmentally friendly religion."
Judeo-Christian? Calcutta is and has always been a Hindu city by an overwhelming majority. Its Christian population is almost statistically insignificant and there are almost no Jews. Muslims constitute the biggest minority; they're about as close as you'll get to anybody "Judeo-Christian" in Calcutta or anywhere else in India.
We know who the "dummies" are, Ted.
Oh, and one more thing, dear Ted. Calcutta seems to be booming these days. The third most prosperous city in India after Mumbai and Delhi!
Keep your patronizing remarks to yourself.
The glaringly obvious questions (therefore left unasked by the "professional" journalist): who exactly sets the "carbon budget" (and what exactly is a carbon budget anyway); and how exactly does a forest, let alone an ocean, "shut down"????
Leprechauns keep a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, so too is there a pot of gold at the top of the Mann hockey stick.
Except whereas the rainbow is real and not so the pot of gold, the lefties have inverted it and now the pot of gold is real and not so the hockey stick.
and wouldn't you know it, the damn lefties are also fond of green
When CO2 levels were 10 or 100 times higher, still a trace gas, the world could only be described as lush. Where does the idea that the climate would become uninhabitable come from? Certainly not the fossil record. Perhaps pulled out of Al Gore's a$$?
Some coastal cities and islands might become inundated by the sea because of rising levels from glacial retreat which has been happening for over 10,000 years. The good news is they have at least 1,000 years warning to move.
Here's a classic horsesh1t prediction, the "Great Horse Manure Crisis of 1894:"
"Writing in the Times of London in 1894, one writer estimated that in 50 years every street in London would be buried under nine feet of manure. Moreover, all these horses had to be stabled, which used up ever-larger areas of increasingly valuable land. And as the number of horses grew, ever-more land had to be devoted to producing hay to feed them (rather than producing food for people),and this had to be brought into cities and distributed—by horse-drawn vehicles. It seemed that urban civilization was doomed."

Instructive history, assuming linear, unchanging "correlations." Technology almost always intercedes. Now it's not useless renewables like wind, but nuclear power, cleaner burning of fossil fuels and lower powered hardware (ie LED lights, TVs etc)
Let us not forget mass hysteria as the ultimate rent seeking activity, the "Tulip Bubble of 1637:"
"The height of the bubble was reached in the winter of 1636-37. Tulip traders were making (and losing) fortunes regularly. A good trader could earn up to 60,000 florins in a month-- approximately $61,710 adjusted to current U.S. dollars. With profits like those to be had, nothing local governments could do stopped the frenzy of trading. Then one day in Haarlem a buyer failed to show up and pay for his bulb purchase. The ensuing panic spread across Holland, and within days tulip bulbs were worth only a hundredth of their former prices. The tulip bubble had burst."

There's always a bubble waiting to be exploited, and it always bursts. Fake bubbles are even better though for rent seeking twits.
All the lonely experts.
Where do they all come from?
After reading all of these terrifying predictions all I can say is ........."don't worry, be happy!.
It is unfair to take his quote out of context; here is his entire prophecy,
...if we continue at this rate, sometime soon after 2030 we will have spent the entire carbon budget for this century. We will then be in the realm of eclipsing 7 degrees Fahrenheit, and it will be an uninhabitable planet for our children. The oceans will shut down. The forests globally will shut down... And the beast shall be huge and black, and the eyes thereof red with the blood of living creatures, and the whore of Babylon shall ride forth on a three-headed serpent, and throughout the lands, there'll be a great rubbing of parts. Yeeah...
Carbon is plant food.
Trees grow faster and bigger when exposed to lots of carbon.
Forest will not shut down, they will grow faster, bigger.
"We will then be in the realm of eclipsing 7 degrees Fahrenheit, and it will be an uninhabitable planet for our children.
The average annual temperature in Antarctica is -31 centigrade.
The temperature could rise by +7F and it would still be frozen all year.
Oh no, NOT the ENTIRE carbon budget.
Now how am I going to afford that new pile coal to burn during the coming ice age?
