This twitter thread is very interesting. Rick Roth is Director of Communications to John Baird, Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister.
. @althiaraj Last time we offered them a briefing, Mr. Trudeau passed it to the critic, and he hung up half way through.

So, ah, yeah, Mr. Trudeau…Maybe you should actually pick up the phone and listen, eh?
At the end of every decision to enter combat is a brave CDN in harm’s way. We owe them clarity. We owe them a plan. We owe them the truth.
— Justin Trudeau, MP (@JustinTrudeau) October 3, 2014

You need to retitle this thread
Mr Trudeau is the problem.
If the media succeed in getting Trudeau elected he’ll be our problem and the biggest this country has had politically in it’s history, he has no clue about much of anything beyond emoting, putting on an act, a true Charlatan.
Who could have predicted the Liberal Party of Canada could get to this level of vacuity?
It seems to have worked out for the media south of our border…twice!
The socialist media have made an art of make news not just reporting it, and convinced many of the steeple as well.
“At the end of every decision to enter combat is a brave CDN in harm’s way.”
.
And at the end of every decision to avoid enlisting at all or minimally serving one’s country when it faced its greatest peril?
How popular was Chretien’s decision to go to Afghanistan? Did the media endlessly slag his decision to go to war there without debate in the HOC?
We need to put this contribution to fighting this extreme evil into perspective, we’re only playing a small part at this point. The Left would cave in to their bullying threats to attack us and cower like scared rabbits on the pretense of being the great humanitarians. What’s humanitarian about what the so-called ISIS/ISIL monsters are doing and how can they do humanitarian work without military aid?
Trudeau and Mulcair should lead a few of their own into the middle of the killing fields and see how long they keep their heads.
steeple?
The media may be even more in love with vacuity itself than with liberalism, per se. After all, was there more of a media creation than — huh, huh, huh — Joe Clark?
We must not let the Liberals off with evil shooting war rhetoric. The media are allowing them to paint pictures of troops coming home in body-bags, as was the case in the Liberal-entered war in Afghanistan. But we don’t here of the HOC debate on that do we.
“At the end of every decision to enter combat is a brave CDN in harm’s way. We owe them clarity. We owe them a plan. We owe them the truth.”
We owe them a Commander that shows his hipster pussy less than his Mommy.
The media loved Joe Who because he kept the Liberals in power. And even if he was elected, it didn’t matter to them as he was a Liberal in a blue suite.
The fact that he was offered the briefings and passed them off/hung up on them should be spread all over the news. As a minimum the Conservatives should work to put that out there. But of course it won’t be picked up by the media because that would disrupt the narrative.
Entirely predictable, Liz J.
A perfect reflection of the majority of the electorate.
Seems to me that there is no strategy for winning here.
Unless Canada is willing to fight the saudi’s, the Iranian regime, Erdogan, and so on, we should stay out, as it’s obvious that our rulers will not name the true enemy, and that our rulers are in fact in bed with the saudi’s.
Canada helped hand Libya to Al-Qaeda, NATO helped hand Kosovo and the Ivory Coast to Muslims.
People like to say I’m not sharp here, but seem never to address our governments ties to the biggest exporter of terror, the Saudi’s.
Exactly. The media has its nose just behind where Trudeau whips out his …
Well said Liz J.
Robert, I think he meant sheeple and he is right, and that is why I stopped watching CBC TV or listening to CBC radio twenty years ago.
What was lacking from Trudeau and Muclair’s speeches was any reference to our allies. Issues like this cannot be considered in isolation from other foreign policy decisions. Failure to support allies can affect negotiations in many other areas, like Keystone or trade deals.
Seems to me when the US, UK, Australia, France etc ask us to join, we must join especially considering our rather limited role is mostly support. Refusing to do so would jeopardize foreign relations with our allies for many years.
Trudeau and Muclair lack any long term strategic vision. They are good at sound bites though. And Justin has nice hair.
We “OWE” them the equipment to get the job done – we OWE them top flight ordnance which limits their liabilities and desolates the enemy – unlike the precarious position the cynical liberal regimes have placed them in many times – going into combat zones with 3rd rate resources more decrepit than the enemies.
In this engagement, I’m all for buying some shiny new US high alt bombers and about 4 years worth of daisy cutters to get the job done right….THAT is money well spent MP Zoolander
suite?
Sheeple…texting is hard
Mike, I almost agree with you. The problem is Islam and the basic founding values of the Western World are diametrically opposed. The West values individual rights and freedoms for all citizens. Islam is about strict conformism and obedience to authority. We don’t share the same values. Canada has allowed Islam within its’ borders and now there’s a crop of homegrown Islamic extremists running off to commit terror and atrocity while holding our nation’s passport.
The Canadian Gov’t has a responsibility to the World and to our citizens to face this problem now. Maybe finally by fighting the Islamic State as an idealogical World-wide entity instead of a localized tyranny there can be ongoing honest critical debate about Islam’s negative effects on Canadian society. Too long has Islam been given a free pass to do as it wills within Canada inside the much too forgiving and naive idea of multi-cultural equivalence. We as a country must fight and debate or we will be destroyed – ultimately from within.
And we all know that Canadian Forces dropping humanitarian aid in civilian (ISIS-controlled?) areas, training anti-ISIS troops, and providing logistical aid would never be in danger just like no CF members were killed on UN peacekeeping operations. /sarc
Liz J, your comments are bang on as always.
If Commander Conditioner (as Faith Goldy calls him) were elected, Canada would become a failed state within 2 years.
How about we look forward to beating this idiot? Everyday, use his own words against him. Turn out every vote in conservative , and marginal ridings.
Remind the people of Trudeau’s shallowness and ludicrous pensees, and tout Harper’s many areas of Harper’s sound stewardship.
Victory will come not to the one who does better in the slanted media polls, but to whoever has the harder working grassroots supporters. Trudeau’s appeal does sway some people, but they would be in the bag for any Lib candidate, from day one, anyway.
It really makes you wonder what the Fibs see the military’s raison d’etre.
For most of us, joining the military means that at some point, you may be putting your life on the line for your country, it may never happen, of course, but, its generally accepted that you may pay the ultimate price.
The Liberals see them as civil servants in different clothes.
Maybe the Libs see them as potential union members
War and battles are icky, after all…………..
Yes,that’s exactly what we have to do, the grassroots campaign.
We must again go door to door, and carry a pamphlet with a list of Harper’s accomplishments, just for those who will ask,”what’s Harper done for this Country”,then we can present them with another pamphlet, titled “what Justin Trudeau has done for this Country”.
The contrast MIGHT get through to some people.
Trudeau’s people love to use the media, especially the social media, and fortunately we don’t allow online voting,YET.
So we still have a chance to beat this son-of-a-space cadet,it’s just going to take some hard work.
btw, Sandy at “Crux of the Matter” has a great list of the Harper government’s accomplishments,it ‘s about 60 items long, that should be copied and touted to every potential voter we meet.
Jr is Canada’s Obama. He is clueless about life, He skips briefings. He speaks in a juvenile manner. He has the backing of the established media. The only question I have is, “Are Canadians smarter than the average American”. Americans voted for Obama ….twice. Will Canadians vote for Jr once?
“We owe them clarity. We owe them a plan. We owe them the truth.”
Three things they will never get from the young Dauphin.
“At the end of every decision to enter combat is a brave CDN in harm’s way. We owe them clarity. We owe them a plan. We owe them the truth.”
Maybe the “Canadians in harm’s way” he is referring to are the ones that left Canada to join ISIS? Every time we drop a bomb, he loses a vote.
I think it’s a lost cause. If you present a list of Harpers accomplishments to an awful lot of Canadians, and they won’t consider them accomplishments. The people are that stupid. I talk to people at work who think Venezuela is a good model to emulate. Despite the fact that Harper is one of the most successful PMs in Canadian history, a lot of people think he’s the anti Christ. If you watch the CBC and read the Toronto Star, this is what you think.
Put you affairs in order and prepare for Canada to slide to third world status. You might as well go Galt and let the people have what they think they want. In a generation, they might come around, but for now the people want their free stuff.
Americans voted for Obama because they where afraid of being called racist. What discrimination has the little prince ever had to endure? What employment or benefit in life was he ever denied.
The airhead can be beaten.
And all you have to do is show the contrast by using justin’s own words.
Wonder if the Liberal Wonderkid is reading what the Islamic State he doesn’t want us to fight is up to now? They’ve beheaded Brit aid worker Allen Henning and now threatening US hostage Peter Kassig. He’s as good as good as gone…unless the Wonderkid can make a plea, he’s so engaging, he has such power over the Canadian electorate, he’s way up in the polls, he may just be the ticket to stop these murderous thugs with his appearance before them.
Really, seriously, in this 21st century of our civilization it’s hard to imagine we share this planet with people capable of such macabre brutality to fellow members of the human race. It’s even more dumbfounding to believe we have politicians in this country who do not want to put them out of business.
Where are you going to use Justin’s own words? The Toronto Star? The Globe and Mail? The National Post? CBC, CTV Global? 95 percent of the public will never hear a single stupid thing out of Trudeau’s mouth. At the same time everything that Harper does will be vilified and every word out of his mouth will be twisted to try and make him sound bad. Do you think the regular readers of the Toronto Star read the Sun or watch Sun News?
If the PM made all his decisions and them e-mailed little idiot Trudeau and angry Tommy and CCed ISIS do think it might make that pair of twits STFU? There was a saying in WW2 “Loose lips sink ships”Why would that not apply in this situation??
They see our military as Aids to Civil Power not the top line soldiers they are.
What these twits in our HOC opposition AND their Media Party counterparts is the enemy is watching their antics. This is not WW1 or WW11 communications were dealing with, the enemy has access to all their nitwit bantering. No government should give information as to what actions they intend to take against an enemy who has access to that information.
In the case of the atrocious, monstrous, hideous acts being carried out by this enemy of humanity in the name of Islam/Islamic State, all those elected to our government in this country should be onside and STFU while we do our part to stop these horrible creatures. We cannot deal with humanitarian efforts until we deal with the reason we need to, savage inhumane beasts killing innocent people and making life a living hell for women, killing their babies and children.
This world hasn’t seen this sort of barbarism,it’s hard to comprehend how anyone itting in our HOC can put their politics ahead of doing the right thing, get rid of these wretched thugs and THEN do “humanitarian” work to salvage the lives of their victims.
Good hair.
Shit for brains, but good hair.
