That'll back up the airports.

Some flights in and out of O'Hare and Midway airports resumed operations "at a reduced rate" late Friday morning, but only a small fraction of the airports' normal flight load.

Hmmm more 'workplace violence'? I didn't catch the suspects name.

Joe, it was a middle-eastern one.
No surprise there.

A self-starter.

"The FBI later announced that Brian Howard of Naperville had been charged in connection with the fire and air-traffic disruption."
Middle-eastern Illinois, maybe.

Well, they did say "there was no evidence of a terrorist act, and it appeared to be an isolated incident." And that's what the authorities normally say when a Muslim deliberately damages something or hurts or kills someone, so it's understandable that people would make assumptions.

Being an IT professional, I don't understand how the FAA could fail to have redundancy and a disaster recovery infrastructure in place, particularly for a facility with such wide-ranging effects.

Oh, wait, maybe because it's a government organization ?!?!

During the many years I lived (and flew) in Europe, Paris Air Traffic Control was on strike (not the control tower though). Things ran quite smoothly. Maybe there is too much control.

Brian Howard is his birth name. Did he have a 'conversion experience' and if so what is his assumed name?

Drudge reported the name shortly after it happened. I cannot recall the entire name but his first name was reported as Agha.

The adopted name of the guy who beheaded a co-worker in Oklamoma was Jah'Keem Yisrael. A lot of that going around with the religion of peace.

Good point. Who the heck is Yusuf Islam? And who was Steven Demetre Georgiou? Name changes happen for lotsa reasons, but when they become Mo Mo Mo, it is probably not for artistic reasons, and there is likely trouble brewing.

The government will always choose to project an official story that allays people's fears and keeps peace and order. It's a principle made famous by one of Jack Nicholson's characters who said: "You want the truth? You can't handle the truth."

To bring the jihad to America's back door, the Muslims will use the blacks to do the 'dirty work'. This is just the beginning.

It's criminal that a vital piece of infrastructure is so under-protected. But Homeland has money to squander on climate change? Where do they find these asshats?
Any reasonably intelligent American can tell you with an absolute certainty that there WILL be terrorist attacks on US soil.

I recall about 30 years back coming outa O'Hare. Late afternoon....arrivals were landing on a runway intersecting the departures.

Precise timing ruled, we started rolling long before the arrival crossed the intersection.....it worked out to about 15 seconds separation...IOW a plane taking off or landing every 30 seconds.

I have seen the landing lights of arrivals to Pearson at about 23:00....as many as 7-8 in the landing glide path visible.....

It's an aluminum overcast overhead...

I recall the panic Canadian traffic control had on 911 when all them arrivals from overseas got re-routed into Canada. A volume of traffic they were not really geared to handle. Their priority was to find a place to park them all and still keep them away from the big cities...and the US.

I still recall how quiet it got that afternoon....

You can google the air traffic not just for the US but globally....it's mindblowing.
