How did his jaw get in here?

From the "Are we in hell yet?" files, Robert "Errand Boy" Fife tweets -

Brian Mulroney called Liberals to say Sun Media will apologize tomorrow for offensive rant by Ezra Levant.

If it's true, it's a huge mistake.

and Muldoon is relevant because why???????

Oh, yeah, cuz Fife says so.........

There is this specie of human that I refer to as a liberal in a blue suit.
He really is starting to exhibit signs of memory loss.

Mulroony was no conservative. Conservatives don't impose new taxes.

There is still a war on between the "Progressives" and the "Conservarives". Even though you would have thought that the Consevatives won and have shown that through their way lies electoral success.
Mulroney always was a progressive, and in the Quebec mould. Very smart. Very quick. But a mercurial ideogy that is done once it's powder is blown.
Mulroney is trying his best to get into polite Westmount/Rosdale society. Too bad. He could have been a (historical) contender.

if true, hope its like, sorry your dad was a slut and your mom was promiscuous.

I apologised to a MacDonald once, sorry my family didn't kill all you bastards 300 years ago, otherwise you wouldn’t be here bothering me today.

Calandra could learn from Trudeau and the media.

Should Paul Calandra adopt the Justin Trudeau approach to answering questions, which some members of the media and Liberals appear to accept, as honorable and appropriate?

Calandra could just say "I can't hear you" in response to a question, as Trudeau did to a "clear and straight forward" question from a Sun Media reporter.Which of course was an outright lie, but lying and not answering the question seems to be acceptable and appropriate to some members of the media, depending on who is doing it .

If this is the decorum and etiquette that Trudeau said he wants to bring to the House, then Canadians have nothing to look forward to, and will be deeply disappointed.

If true it's a brilliant move. It will force His Hairness to have to answer Sun questions again, or look like an even bigger man-child.

Gotta make the Progressives happy...who will hear the Sun News apology, only Conservatives listen to it? All they need to say...."if Ezra's factual comments offended anyone more than the antics of Pierre and his wife offended Canada,we're regret hurting their feelings, hope they don't need therapy to deal with it."

Um, mikey, you just don't get it do you. Moosejaw shifted taxes, and that was a good move, try keeping up would you?

I'd have no problem with a measured apology if they'd have got out in front of it, but to apologize now in response to Trudeau's pouting and his *false* claim that he was boycotting Sun News' reporters' questions because of Ezra (he in fact ignored Sun News questions for years, and wouldn't even talk to David Akin, for example) is just giving Tantrum Boy, and the prog-media, exactly what they demand. That, I think, is the big mistake.

And having old-boy network Brian "Envelopes" Mulroney deliver the news of the (supposedly) upcoming apology to the Liberals is just a big step backwards, IMO.

Culturally speaking, not just in Canada but in the US and Europe, the progressive "hurt feelings" trope has been used as a bludgeon against anyone who proffers their own opinions in an open and honest and uncensored way, and it's always/only used against non-progressives.

Macleans' Luiza Savage called women at Sun News "skanks". Did she or Macleans issue any apology?

Good lord, CBC's Kady O'Malley tweeted a hearsay accusation from a dominatrix that Stephen Harper's wife paid for a hooker. In what strange universe is opining that a philandering former PM was a "slut" worse than that?

Why is it a mistake?

An apology is definitely owed. Ezra was out of line. Period. It was a stupid thing to make an issue out of, given that the bride & groom clearly had no problem with what was going on, and the way he did it was so far over the line that it made me embarrassed to be an Ezra fan.

Let him apologize, then hammer Trudeau if he tries to continue this ridiculous boycott.

Never hurts to say you're sorry. Even if you don't mean it.

Respectfully disagree EBD.

Trudeau has made a big mistake with this ban, for 2 reasons:

1) He made official what he had been doing under stealth anyways. Now everyone is paying attention.

2) He's given Harper a precedent to take the same action in the future.

Many media are clearly not comfortable with this ban. Apologizing gives them ammunition to pressure Trudeau to lift the ban. And once he says he will, he will have a hard time going back to doing it in stealth mode.

With respect, John, Ezra's (superb) segment was really about Trudeau's behaviour, not about the bridal party. Even if the bride, the groom, and the family had stood in a circle and cheered JT on, it would still be legitimate to opine that it's a creepy thing for a federal party leader to do.

If you look at the photo, that wasn't a respectful "kiss", it was a sensual nuzzling. Pick any party leader, past or present, and imagine them doing the same thing to a bride on her wedding day, and most people, I suggest, would find it creepy.

I'd have no problem with Ezra apologizing to the newlyweds and their families for any implication that Trudeau's behaviour was against their will, but I watched the segment, and - again - it was about the Trudeau attitude, and about what a celebrity airhead he is.

If you give in to pouters and prog-media with a complete double-standard depending on which side - left or right - is doing the "slurring", you've lost the battle.

That's my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

Hey...if Maggie was willing to flash her tw*t in public and pierre was willing to be public with his conquests then those whose nose are out of joint should give me a reasoned answer to the question of just what was so seriously offensive about Ezra's rant?

...Oh yeah I forgot, the truth is no defense.

You're right that Trudeau has been pretending that his refusal to answer Sun News reporters' questions is a result of Ezra's behaviour, even though he's been shunning Sun News for years because they ask him the questions that other media outlets won't ask.

You might be right that an apology might corner him into answering questions from Sun News reporters, but a Sun News apology for what he *falsely* claims to be the reason he's refused to answer questions would seem a bit like handing a victory to his team of bulldogs, and (in effect) giving them the appearance of having a degree of control of Ezra's free-wheeling, uncensored, unvarnished perspective.

And the spectre of *Brian Mulroney* notifying the Liberals in advance that Sun News is going to climb down, right after the giant pout-fest from the hypocrites in the LPC and the MSM? It kinda makes me sick.

The 'prog media' is none too impressed with the boycott. Rosemary Barton of all people disagreed with Trudeau. This is a golden opportunity for Sun News to stick it to Trudeau. Ezra apologizing for bringing the parents into it forces Justin to take questions again, or look like a fool, even to the 'prog media'.

Trudeau doesn't want to talk to Sun News; he's avoided them long before Ezra's rant. Status quo lets him off the hook. Apologizing forces him to answer their questions. He can't even go back to his pre rant selective hearing mode.

The last thing Trudeau wants is an apology. Which is why Ezra should do it.

Some of us have been around to remember that Pierre slugged her and gave her a black eye in the process.

So let them have their victory. If it means Trudeau can no longer ignore Sun questions, it's worth it.

I've long since thought a great attack ad for the CPC to run would be the footage of Trudeau flat out ignoring Faith Goldy's questions as they walk. Want to turn women off of Trudeau? Show him treating one like she isn't even there.

Would love to see Ezra nationally debate Justin on - anything relevant.

Course that'd never happen, Justin's handlers would never let it, but the hilarity of the thought is delicious.

And then following up on that:

Robert Fife @RobertFife · 5h

"Even with apology for @ezralevant rant, @JustinTrudeau may ban Sun from campaign plane until Tory editorial links cut, say Libs #cdnpoli"

So, moving the goal posts. Surrender never works. Ever.

Turdo, Pedalo, Muldoon. Tower trash of the Montreal variety. An apology wouldn't surprise me.

"Tower trash" - I might steal that..

Ezra should not apologize and neither should his employer ... he simply stated truths no matter how politically incorrect they may have been .... they words are out there .. and everyone knows they are true. The Tudos were both sluts and their kids are nuts.

Here is the real test:
If Shiny Pony and his parents with all their warts had always been Conservatives
instead of Libranos and he was running to become Conservative PM of this country,
who thinks the media party would restrain themselves in any way in their efforts
to defeat him?
Nobody.
Shiny Pony has made a very stupid move.
He has received a minor personal affront and chosen to spin it out of context
politically which makes his boycott response seem very sinister.

If any apology is forthcoming, I hope it will be of the "I'm sorry you were offended ... (by the truth)" variant.

The liberals all accept that as an apology if made by one of their own. It is, of course, a non-apology masquerading as an apology, but JT would look poutish to turn it down, while Ezra could hold his head high.

I still find it odd that Fife et al expect us to forget that for more than a decade after he was Prime Minister, they chased him and cajoled him about his post political dealings. Why now are they treating him with any modicum of respect?

Ez should tell Justin to piss up a rope.

It was a dumb Ass thing for Ezra to say but apology - especially brokered by Brian is just weak.

Simple response:"Great, we won't cover you. Piss off."

"Tower trash", that is good. These fellows are just the main representatives of the Laurentian Elite who think they have a God given right to rule this country.

"Envelopes" Mulroney showed in spades that he was part of the Laurentian Elite crowd by stabbing the west in the back on the F-18 maintenance contract. NAFTA was a good thing though.

EBD, "If you give in to pouters and prog-media with a complete double-standard depending on which side - left or right - is doing the "slurring", you've lost the battle." This is the crux of the matter. This whole episode is like going into a fight with one hand tied behind your back. The MSM media, including Baghdad Fife, is clearly batting for Baby Doc.

I think a more relevant path Ezra should have pursued is that Margaret Trudeau was bipolar -- she has publically admitted that. From my understanding of that illness is that it has a genetic trace and is passed down to offspring. The real issue should be is whether Justin Trudeau is affected and does Canada need a future Prime Minister who is either suffering from Bipolar Disorder or will be affected by this illness in the future?

Fife?

FIFE? You mean the comb-over closet bathhouse boy? POS....

Apparently he's loaded....with three dollar bills.

You know, guys that charge three dollars. Named Bill......

I agree, I'm an Ezra fan but he does embarrass me at times

When a liberal becomes offended and they don't get a pound of flesh as soon as they like the first thing they do is make a public remonstration such as telling the offendor that not only they but their circle of associates (whom they already refuse to acknowledge) will no longer be acknowledged.
If no penance comes forth, they then enlist the sunday political talking heads to spin the story and if they want to also get a wanna be liberal in a blue suit to advocate that proper pennance will be done...without any verification that any such act will occur.
The pinnacle is reached then by a follow up point that even with an apology the damage is irrevocable and "those other"* conservatives will remain outside of the palace gates.

*Those other- another term used by progressives such as "not one of ours dear" that allows them membership in the laurentian elite

Did Ezra use some salty language? When doesn't he?
Did he fabricate anything? Not one word.

If he apologizes, he should only do so for his choice of words, no more no less. The fact that this episode pushed all other news off tells me there is more to this than meets the eye.
Not about Ezra's dialogs, but how this one deconstructed some trudeadopian mythology.
Liberals have built juniors leadership on a pristine version of the elder, any re-examination of the facts destroy that myth and with it juniors legitimacy as leader let alone prime minister.
Id hope that going forward Ezra has a whole series of episodes regarding Pierre's real legacy. Hope the next one is on the failure of how PET handled the so-called energy crisis.

A colleague of mine works in China and gives this example of justice.

A person is found guilty in the morning, is executed by noon and his family disappears by the evening.

Reading some of the comments here, I sense a familiar sentiment.

Punish the child for the crimes of his parents.

It's no wonder more intelligent commentators like ET no longer waste their time here.

Mulroney is relevant because he's on the board of directors of Quebecor, the parent company of Sun Media.

So, this is going to be your last post, right?

You remind me of the old girl who called the cops about obscene phone calls. "Officer, this vile creature said the most disgusting things I have ever heard...he went on and on for over half an hour...every night for the last three weeks!"

ref cf-18 maintenance contract
As a consultant I worked on the proposal for the loosing bidder on this contract. After the award I was given a job with the winner. the bidding process was a hoax. the looser had the best price and capability but they weren't in Quebec!
