Emeril Lagasse talks about what gov't regulation does to entrapaneurs.

"The one thing that I can say is that I'm pretty connected to America -- because I'm a good listener, and I think that's what makes a great restaurateur, is that you're a good listener," he said. "I don't have the solution. If I did, I could run for president. But I don't have the solution. All I can tell you is that the balance of the economic cycle is out of whack."

If Emeril wants to see something obviously out of whack he should check out McGuinty/Wynne Liberal Ontar-I-owe. It's the least friendly place for entrepreneurs in our history, a good exhibition A.

This is something that very few politicians and none of the bureaucracy gets.

A few years ago two CFIA inspectors descended on a local farm to enforce some useless regulation pertaining to the contents of livestock feed that the farmer was selling. A bunch of us stood in the yard when the tools arrived - just to let them know the farmer was not alone. I asked one of them, "Have you guys figured out where your pay-cheque is going to come from when you've finally put the last little guy out of business?" It was something in his thirty years of "service" that he had never thought about.

A tiny government is a beautiful thing!

the local community garden with forbidden by the municipal eco-nutzi's to collect rainwater from the toolshed roof.
the reason? "bird/squirrel poo contaminates the water and you can't use that on a vegetable garden"....

back-in-the-day we'd call em "asswipe"

Michelle Obama's food regs will be spread from schools to the local stores.

Speaking of "asswipes", wonder if Suzuki and his Green loving cult feel guilty when they use toilet paper? It would take more than a few sheets to clean Al Gore off, he's full of **it.

And of course birds and squirrels only poo on rooftops, and Emeril spells like bird poo.dbrt5x

Exactly. In my thirty-four years of dealing with government bureaucrats I discovered that your descriptor "tools" is being way too kind.

Once the cancer consumes more than the host has, it turns to killing that host.
Governance now costs us more than the losses we created govt to prevent.
The bureaucrats can add, they see falling government income, so they increase the bite on those who comply.
The compliant are fewer in number and getting eaten alive.
Very soon the punishment for the crime of not complying with government theft will become so ridiculous that even the sheeple can see.

"...In my thirty-four years of dealing with government bureaucrats..."

May you have a long and peaceful retirement...God knows you've earned it.

restaurants, coffee shops and other small food establishments have to comply with the same rules and laws and other bs piled on the business by government. the small business cannot purchase quantities in volume like the chain restaurant, that means their margins are thinner. cost per employee is also the same for the small business as the chain. chain operations can buy not only food products cheaper they can buy location after location and expand. there is not much room left for the little guy and government has been the primary weapon against small business.
