On such a lovely day:
Kari Anne Roy, a writer and mom of three from Austin, said the ugly incident began earlier this month after a neighbor she didn't know spotted her 6-year-old son playing in a field across the street from their house. The woman brought the boy home, saying he needed to be inside "with an adult," Roy wrote on her blog.
Later, a knock on the door:
"The police officer asked if my son had been outside alone. She asked why I thought it was OK for him to be unsupervised," Roy wrote.
Not done yet:
Days later...an agent from child protective services showed up to her home and questioned her kids, who are 6, 8 and 12. Roy said the agent spoke to the children alone, one-by-one, and quizzed them about drugs, alcohol, pornography and how often they bathed.
All because a boy had been playing outside, in a park visible from his house.
"My 8-year-old was very concerned about the questions they asked her, about had she seen people's private parts or movies of that sort of thing. These are things she had never really thought of or had known existed. I was humiliated and really angry after that. Really, really angry."

Don't ever let social services question your youngster without you AND a lawyer present and a warrant in hand. And the questions asked of this child - which have absolutely nothing to do with the so-called endangering - are just the first reason why.
Agreed, social services is NOT your friend,or your kids friend either.
Sounds like the neighbour has been immersed in too many scary movies and TV dramas that would have us believe there's a serial killer or child abductor on every city or town block, just waiting for his chance.
Symptom of government being -way- too friggin' big, and also that the people who live in that neighborhood are...
... searching for a word here that doesn't start with F...
...
... nope, can't think of anything else. They're a bunch of worthless f-s.
And yeah, concur with Mike. Unless you're cuffed with a knee on your neck, never let any of these CPS freaks alone with your kid for even a second. You've got rights, use 'em.
She should have told CPS she was a recovering heroine addict with a new lesbian girl friend and was in the process of converting to islam through a jihadist imam. CPS would have written a glowing report about her.
In Ontario, law prevent parents unsupervised below 15 but for take. Bus ttc back home must parents signed paper to school if child even miss 5 minutes late to school principlas office call parent explain absent or delay if repeated they can call for meeting with parents. For security of children still their brain not develop or not bother byy stranger I agreed parents should not leave kid alone list of missing children increase alot in canada because there are too many sick out there
Sorta makes ya wonder how we ever survived childhood.
"......a neighbor she didn't know spotted her 6-year-old son playing in a field across the street from their house. The woman brought the boy home,....."
When I was young the cops woulda busted that " neighbor she didn't know" with abducting a minor.
I spent 14 years in the child welfare system in Alberta and it's not what's made out to be according to the lieberal media. Lots of bureaucrats wanted to make a name for themselves and they used the children they took away from parents to their full advantage.
I would have called the police and pressed charges for kidnapping against the woman who took the child from the park to his house.
There should be MORE kids in the park... not less
Friends cringe that I let our boys now 14 and 12 alone in the park
Sad times
Austin is easily the most liberal town in Texas, and proud of it.
This is what one might expect in the Nanny state that Ontario has become, they want the little barely four year olds in Kindergarten all day to begin the brainwashing process.
For the adults they're now contemplating having a registry for smokers....they may have to start in the high schools.
"... in the Nanny state that Ontario has become, ... they're now contemplating having a registry for smokers..."
Good. I don't know what it will take to wake people up but if that kind of nonsense isn't it, they deserve it.
The occasional definite article will assist you no ok
The irony of this incident is that the same people concerned about children being left alone in a park will decry those same parents when their children become obese from lack of exercise. You can't have it both ways.
Before I was 6 I used to walk a mile or more alone, mostly through bush, to visit neighbors, all of whom were at least a mile away. Thankful for that, I didn't grow up to be a sissy.
My wife would immediately initiate the emigration process if that ever happened to us. Russia would be the perfect choice LoL. They have far more freedom for the things that matter. I'd trade the right to bitch about the government for the right to live my personal life in total freedom apart from that, any day of the week.
Go Putin! F*** up the liberals but good!
I suspect many of these nanny state thugs "investigating" normal parenting have badly behaved children themselves. Whether or not that is the case, why should our tax dollars go to paying people to instruct parents in what they already know how to do?
The world is full of busy bodies or those who seek power at the expense of others.
The latter are just plain evil. The former stupid fools. Its why people who abuse power should face courts without government money.
When I was six, I split the atom.
That should cut off the inevitable flood of stories about playing out of sight behind the neighbour's barn.
can you translate your post into intelligent, understandable English please?
Austin... only fifteen minutes from Texas.
