What occurs to me about these delusional tools – besides their mental conformity, their vanity, and their belief that the campus belongs to them and is theirs to disrupt – is that their places could have been taken by students who don’t strive to silence facts and ideas, and who actually want to learn something. Perhaps even a skill that’s of value to others and will thereby earn them a living. There must be thousands of much smarter, more honest people – people who don’t imagine themselves as Maoist “revolutionaries” – who would eagerly use the opportunity that these obnoxious little parasites are squandering.
There are no surprises here. The basic ethics of neurotic authoritarianism (narrow-minded intolerance of petty foibles) has percolated down from academia into the political culture and society.
When you substitute an intolerant political ideology which demands rigid conformity, punishes dissenting ideas and considers might is right (with no moral constraint on the abuse of coercive authority in achieving ideological goals) for our classic laissez-faire liberal democratic ideals, you get the Orwellian despotism infecting our campuses and politics. We have a couple of generations now schooled in this intolerant, bratty, tantrum throwing politics – is there a wonder why corporate and political leadership is at such a despicable low ebb?
The brand names of “Progressivism and Liberal” have been usurped by, and used as camouflage for the vilest form of Neanderthal politics/behaviour and unevolved ideologies. The tenets of evolved society – tolerance, liberty, empathy, respect, civil discourse and reason are not part of this political species – so the cultural/political cure for it infecting a free society is much the same as how we would treat an invasive virus.
Progressive folks freely admit it has never been about reason. Pointing out a lack of logic will produce a shrug. The main thing that informs their opinion and drives the agenda is ‘getting even’.

These operating methods and the bastardization of language terms such as democracy, freedom, were first used by Lenin’s Bolsheviks and have been honed to a fine art by today’s Bolsheviks in our campuses and media.
Can’t happen if you have a educational system, MSM and political system premised on hand-outs indoctrinating its citizens from birth. If it wasn’t for the internet the cult of “me” would have won a long time ago. There are far more Pol Pots, Hitlers, Ches and Trudeaus than there are Pinochets.
Without taxpayer support, much of it funneled through the universities to radicalized students, adjunct “professors” and professional agitators, the political left would have difficulty maintaining their cultural grip on Western societies. Defunding the left should be a major political goal.
On another note, I feel compelled to point out that rigid conformity to dogma and authoritarian tendencies in the suppressing of dissent were not introduced to the academy by the political left. Universities have always been a haven for orthodoxy which is understandable both because they have frequently been subsidized by the powers that be and because they provide a safe environment for those too intellectually insecure to deal with anyone confidently sporting a mature thought process but holding differing opinions. What has changed is that the left demands conformity while insisting that the universities which they control are islands of free-thinking in a close-minded culture.
Universities are a dying relic.
The real University of hard Knocks, awaits all whether they go through the academic pocket drain or go straight into the wage economy.
As the academics are now becoming synomous with idiocy and decay, as the more intelligent students do the math, they will fade away.
A “credential” created on photoshop is about as valuable as a BA and probably demonstrates initiative and some skill.

The analogy of an invasive political virus is apt. A biological virus invades a cell, co-opts it to produce more copies of the virus and eventually kills the cell while spreading the virus to the rest of the host.
A culture is largely defined by its values, by what is considered to be vice and what is considered to be virtue. The values of a culture cannot be perpetuated without citizens internalizing them and that internalization will not occur without institutions that teach and reinforce them. Thus, those who wish to destroy a culture and replace or rebuild it from scratch, must replace or co-opt the institutions that teach the values of the targeted culture.
The political co-opting of institutions is very similar to the invasion of a cell by a virus and everywhere one looks in Western societies one can see the systematic targeting of any institution that teaches or promotes traditional values. It is very common once an institution has been politically conquered to see it set up “leadership development” programs to teach the members of the institution how to infiltrate and co-opt other institutions.
Anyone old enough has seen churches and synagogues co-opted and repurposed from teaching fidelity to Judeo-Christian values and respect for God to teaching environmental stewardship, useful for those wishing to use environmentalism as a pre-text for violating property rights, and a definition of “non-judgementalism” and “tolerance” which shifts according to political expediency.
There are many other examples of course. Just recently the Boy Scouts of America committed institutional suicide by succombing to years of unrelenting legal and PR harassment and agreed to admit openly homosexual scouts. Obama has done his part by unilaterally changing policy to allow homosexuals to serve openly in the U.S. military, effectively redefining with a stroke of his pen the institutional purpose of the military from ‘using force or the threat of force to further U.S. foreign policy goals’ to ‘becoming an agent of societal change’.
The current target of the political virus is the NFL. The NFL teaches the manly virtues of courage, discipline, strength, competitiveness, aggression appropriately applied in an appropriate setting, preparation, perseverance and teamwork (in a non-collectivist sense). How can the popularity of the NFL be allowed to continue when it teaches values so detrimental to anyone wanting a docile and easily controlled population?
It’s getting harder and harder to find any institution besides the family which teaches traditional values and the family itself has been severely damaged and is under continuous assault.

I take some consolation in the fact that people like that will be the second against the wall if there’s ever an actual revolution.

All education funding needs to be cut from kindergarten to PHD.
