56 Replies to “Sunwing Flight Escorted Back to Toronto By U.S. Fighter Jets”

  1. Seems he is supposed to be a head case. His father blames the “police and health care system” for his spawns actions. Typical of the culture.

  2. Drop him off on the southern border and he becomes a Dreamer. problem solved.

  3. “Ali”
I’m pleased these innocent people were able to returned to Canada unharmed by that muslim man.

  4. He had a fight with his significant other, and also ran into a bad check-in clerk. Was she going to ensure the safety of his kids until they could board? Kids wander off and do all kinds of wierd stuff. And if she felt afraid/threatened,then she should have left the flight.
This smells like to much leftard BS. Or prog “reporting”.

  5. When this first appeared in the National post I commented that due to the complete absence of information on the terrorist, it would probably be a muslim as that is how the MSM censors by omission, now that the truth has come out the National post has closed comments on this story in a fit of pique perhaps ?

  6. Really…what do you expect when the guy is product of first cousins marrying…and his parents are the same and so on…and so on…Most Muslims are high-functioning mentally retarded people…maybe not so high-functioning in many cases.

  7. I’m not clear of all the details, but maybe “dropping” him off over the border would have been in order. Jerks like this are causing immense economic jihad against us.

  8. I hope they throw the book at him (preferably the Bible). Already people are nervous when travelling by air lately and now this happens. I would really like to know what it is costing us in increased security costs for every thousand Muslim immigrants we accept. Is it worth it? How about more Polish immigrants? More from the Philippines?

  9. “More from the Philippines?”
Defintely NO. They have been muzzified. Polish, yes,Israel, yes, however the rest of those areas have all ready been muzzified also.

  10. True, think of all the Muslim cultural items we enjoy so much in our daily lives; their music, Broadway plays, movies, art, literature, fashion, customs, comedians, athletes……
I could go on and on…

  11. We need to demand our Immigration Minister stop all immigration from Islamic states immediately, they’re a threat to our peace and security. None of them can be trusted, they’re are too many with short fuses already in our midst, we saw it in the streets of Calgary. They are not fit to live among civil Western democracies, their doctrine belongs to the stone age. Let them fight and kill each other in their own hell holes, it’s their way of life.

  12. When Obama hears of his , heads will roll at the Pentagon, and a special flight will be dispatched to Toronto laden with immigration officials offering him a green card, welfare, food stamps; the full ride. And, of course, the same for his furthest relatives. Then, he will be resettled in a red state.

  13. I do remember the humiliation and wretched conditions imposed by a Judge on Mark Harding. Harding was a preacher who used leaflets to criticise the teachings of the Koran. He objected to a room being set aside for Islamic prayers in a High School in Toronto.
I believe a prayer room for Christians in the same school was not allowed.
He had to take lessons from a hard faced Imam, who threatened to send him to prison. This if he did not insult unbelievers, as stated in the Koran.

What will happen to this youth? May I offer a forecast?
Oh, the wailings and appeals to this wretched individual. Ah yes, Canada loves you etc.
Forgive the rant.- I have Hiram Walkers Special Old in hand.

  14. Happened over WV, should have landed there, let WV SWAT handle the problem, job done. No Canadian taxpayers involved.

  15. “More from the Philippines?” Defintely NO. They have been muzzified. Polish, yes,Israel, yes, however the rest of those areas have all ready been muzzified also. Posted by: Justthinkin
Yeah right. We have a few thousand Filipinos in our small community and they’re all devout Catholics. Perhaps you’re confused with Indonesians who are almost all Muslim. Those brown people all look alike, eh?

  16. There are lots of Muslims in the Philippines, but it is a Christian country ( the only one in Asia ).

  17. That is how you make a mountain out of a molehill. If that plane was truly in danger the crew would have declared an emergency and landed immediately rather than returning to YYZ. The crew decided that the threat was low and likely followed company policy which directed them to return to the departure airport. Hardly newsworthy until every enforcement agency in sight got out their play book and abided by it. Loud-mouthed passengers talking sh1t aren’t a new phenomenon but clubbing them with the fire extinguisher and using the extra seatbelt extensions to restrain them is no longer in vogue I see.

  18. So it’s looking like Ali Shahi’s just some regular Canadian guy with (1) mental health issues, and (2) an Arabic name.
No terrorism charges, no terrorism links, no terrorism, period.
On the other hand, it interesting to note that, despite all the smug rhetoric on SDA about defending “Canadian values”, it took you all no time at all to lay bare your casual bigotries, intolerances, and presumptions of guilt.

  19. The jets are not there for show.
If he had succeeded in hijacking the aircraft, it’s liken the plane would have been shot down, had there been suspicion a 9/11-style event was imminent.

  20. “Ali Shahi’s just some regular Canadian guy”
It’s regular guys like him that make the other 99% percent of Canadians (that don’t initiate terrorist threats) such an aberration.

  21. I don’t believe he’s a “regular canadian guy”. Why do you presume he’s got mental health issues? Is it because he’s got an arabic sounding name? I don’t much care if his name is arabic. I think it’s unfortunate their race has in the majority been subjugated by the terror of islam.
No terrorism? Is threatening to blow a plane full of innocent canadians not an act of terrorism? It looks to me that political correctness has gotten to the crown.
“smug rhetoric on SDA” … Are we smug? I don’t think so, many of us have witnessed and read widely of acts of idiocy and terror from this particular group of people. It’s not like we haven’t done our research.
“Canadian values” ? oh, I’m kinda light on that one since the Trudeau years, there’s a fair number of issues that seem to be given short coverage in the MSM in Canada based on the idea that “everything is acceptable” as canadians are open minded. This open mindedness has led to a wide variety of problems that I’d never imagined visiting our fair shores 20-30 years ago…
You mention our “bigotries, intolerances, and presumptions of guilt” as being “casual”. I don’t believe they’re casual, we’ve earned them (those that admit to having them), been witness to seeing canadian and american soldiers blown up settling accounts and sometimes being “peace keepers”, getting shot on american military bases because of political correctness, We’ve read about how they act to their hosts when they’re allowed unfettered immigration into certain areas of the world, and the resultant beheading last year in the UK by converts, the starving to death of an infant of the wrong sex in Edmonton recently, the drowning in the St. Lawrence locks of a family of 4 girls, the annual “car-b-ques” in Paris, the underwear bomber in the USA, the 9/11 attacks in America and Beslan, the Madrid attack, the Bombay attack, the 2002/2005 Baii bombing in moderate Indonesia, in multiple attacks on the only real democracy in the middle east – Israel… going back all the way to its founding, iand, n the mess these folks make in every corner they’re allowed in. In every case of an unhinged attack on the values westerners hold in high regard, like freedom for instance, the first question we’ve begun to ask is, “did they catch the muslim that did this”? This question didn’t just fall on our laps without cause.
Bigotry? Perhaps you simply need to open your eyes. It isn’t bigotry when they’re actually committing these acts.

  22. “Bigotry? Perhaps you simply need to open your eyes. It isn’t bigotry when they’re actually committing these acts.”
It is when your definition of “they” extends well beyond those who are actually committing those acts.

  23. Bigot is a great word used when there’s nothing else to use in defense of the wretched examples of human kind who have been indoctrinated in the name of a specific group of people to kill, kill, kill.
Not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists in the world today seem to be Muslims/Islamists. When it’s impossible to know when one or a group of them are going to do what they’ve been told is their mission in life, to kill and terrorize, we should not trust any of them, they’re ticking time bombs. Everywhere in the world Muslims/Islamists live there are problems, life for the inhabitants is pure hell now the same elements are infesting our civilized Western democracies, taking their hatreds to our streets, attacking those who don’t agree with them.
Call us bigots, no problem, trust has to be earned so until it is “they” is it.

  24. Nothing related to the current topic but do crazy people make the no-fly list? Is that random Asian guy sitting next to me on the plane going to be Vince Li?

  25. Instead of a SWAT team acting like they were extras out of the “Blues Brothers” a “Dirty Harry” would take control of the situation without all the fuss

  26. We called police on him more than 23 times in two-three years,” said Sadegh Shahi, who said the family tried but could not force their son into a rehab program.
Maybe then an instance where a so called honour killing would have been totally appropriate, instead of inflicting it on defenseless wives and daughters, as is usually the case??
    Yeah, I know….

  27. “When it’s impossible to know when one or a group of them are going to do what they’ve been told is their mission in life, to kill and terrorize, we should not trust any of them, they’re ticking time bombs.”
You do realize that your response — generalized fear, leading to a repudiation of your own professed “civilized Western” values (e.g., treating everyone as individuals, presuming innocence until proven guilty, etc.) — is EXACTLY what terrorists everywhere are trying to achieve, right?
The EASY response — that is, the instinctual response — is to resort to bigotry, to overgeneralize and stereotype and demonize an entire group of people solely for your own peace of mind. It’s also a cowardly response. If you really want to fight terrorism, to push back against the very heart of what terrorists are trying to achieve, then the best thing you personally do is resist these baser instincts and to not let them dictate your how you live.

  28. So it’s starting to sound like this had nothing to do with terrorism or radicalism, it was a mentally ill guy who was upset about cigarette prices. Three questions follow:
    1. Did they really have to turn the plane around and inconvenience all those people? If I was on that flight and my family’s vacation was at stake, I would have volunteered to babysit him for a few hours. Actually I have some duct tape in my carry on right now.
    2. If I’m a regular Canadian family of Arab or Persian descent, is it worth changing my name so people won’t automatically associate me with radical scumbags?
    3. If a family member is having problems like this, what can you really do about it? Can’t help but feel bad for this guy’s family.

  29. Hmm, “Rbt”, eh? Wonder if he’s a Frog. There you go, Rbt – more fodder for your spurious craptastic head-up-arse “arguments”. You’re welcome.
Or maybe I just meant you really are a slippery lil’ green amphibian. Or not. Maybe I meant you’re a humourless parrot-squawking Leftard wank.
Anyway, loved the remark about getting this guy a gig with the National Socialist Canadian Workers Party!

  30. Jeeze, talk about a pack of garbled drivel, you’ve really laid bare a lot about yourself except we’ll have to guess what “Rbt” stands for….. robot maybe?

  31. “they” … and it’s not any different from the Nazis. Sure, not all nazis were bad people, see the comparison? I haven’t said all arabs are bad people, it’s people like the current Prime Minister of Turkey that have said, “there is no moderation in islam”. He ought to know.
I’ve heard too, that it’s 97% of the lawyers that give the other 3% a bad name. The comparison stands with nazis, or islam.

  32. I feel obligated to say this piece because I’ve enjoyed visiting SDA for a few years now. I don’t comment that much but I like to see what people are thinking about in Canada. I know it’s a “conservative” site and so expect to hear certain viewpoints echoed. But sometimes there’s a little give and take. Generally it is civil and argued based on valid points and without vitriol and ad hominem attacks.
Lately it seems to have changed for the worse. People like Michael Anderson (I think of him as Mad Dog Mikey) and a few others are bringing SDA down to what is common on most of the Left leaning sites…. name calling, personal attacks, nasty insults.
Mikey’s latest target is Rbt whose comment had some merit. Rather than counter his viewpoint with actual arguments to alter his point of view, we see instead Mad Mikey launch another vitriolic name calling attack which adds nothing to the discussion….. intellectually vacuous and boring.
You have to police yourselves folks least you become what you most oppose.

  33. Wait next headline” Ali Shahi sues Canadian Government for violating his rights” with full support from junior Trudeau and his band of misfits

  34. Nice of you to check in on us here in Canada and offering advice. One would think you’d have a lot to be concerned about with what’s going down right now with your own government.

  35. It was a real waker-upper to read a Leftard saying – you have to love it – “think as I do, or the terrorists win.”
I’ll say this much: he’s eclectic in who he parrots.
