Kim Kardashian’s Dress

David Warren on the silence of the mainstream media regarding the genocide against Iraqi Christians:

Here is a “thought experiment” for my remaining journalistic friends. It is an attempt to cast light by means of analogy. (“Now is the time when we juxtapose,” as the adored Kate Macmillan likes to write at Small Dead Animals.) And let me remind the journalist-entertainers of the mainstream, that they do indeed have influence, in the aggregate, over the tenor of our society.

The area and population of the territory the “Caliphate” now controls in Syria and Iraq being currently roughly equal to that controlled by the government of Israel, let us imagine what the “coverage” would be, had the Israelis told all Muslims to run for their lives; had they announced that everything Muslims owned now belonged to the Israeli government; and that any Muslim still found within Israel’s de facto borders after twenty-four hours would be put to the sword. Questions:

Do you think this story might make the front page?

Do you think the media would seek more information?

Do you think the matter might remain news for more than one day?

For more than a week since the arrival in Mosul, Iraq, of the jihadist terror group Islamic State (formerly ISIS), reports out of the city were relatively quiet. ISIS, NBC reported, dedicated itself to rebuilding infrastructure and helping Sunni Muslims. All that changed this week, as the last Christian was forced out of the ancient city.
Reports began surfacing last week that after using the first weeks of its rule to cement its position in Mosul’s power structure, ISIS, having now established a ration system for food, had begun denying rations to Christians and Shi’ite Muslims in the city. The Assyrian International News Agency reported that food shop workers and goods merchants were warned that providing food and goods to Christians could result in death.
The news traveled swiftly after that. This week, ISIS began distributing pamphlets to Christians in Mosul, warning that they had the option of either converting to Sunni Islam, leaving the city and relinquishing all their possessions to ISIS, or being killed:
The images of ISIS’s ravaging of the city began to surface shortly thereafter: homes spray-painted with the letter “N”–for “Nazarene,” as in Jesus of Nazareth–and a mass exodus of Christians forced to leave the city with no money, no food, and no place to go.
As the Christian residents fled, ISIS began burning down the city’s most important Christian monuments, from the Syriac Catholic Archdiocese of Mosul to a smaller, 1,800-year-old church within city limits. It is believed that currently, finally, all Christians have left the city, choosing to begin their lives elsewhere over converting to the ISIS version of radical Sunni Islam.

I know some may disagree and many may think even worse of me than they already do, but David Warren has above described what will henceforth be one of my most cherished wishes for Israel and for Canada to actually do in regards to Muslims.
    They are winning.
We are losing the War on Terror, at home and abroad.

  4. Yeah.

  5. North Americans and Europeans: Eyes wide open – and BLIND
The Islamification of Western Civiliazation began a long time ago (at least 70-80 years ago – Muslim Brotherhood)…we are now witnessing the results of: Flawed Multi-Cultural dogma + Human Rights legislation fueled by Progressive thinkikng being rammed at us by those that wish to see Free Speech destrouyed via so called hate law’s (“I’m offended” etc.), as a means to obliterate our culture and civilization.
And they are indeed winning – small incre3ment by small increment.
Everywhere one looks you can see this. Christians and free thinkers are under seige not only in ISIS controlled territory, but right here on our own turf.
There is only one way for this to end….
    Lock n load folks

  6. Omelettes are tasty, but the metaphor I had in mind was “excising a tumor” before it metastasizes and kills the whole body.
You know, for the good of the children, …especially the ones we don’t want either wearing bomb belts or on the receiving end of bomb belts or just so the children don’t end up being some Weird Beard’s sex toy.

  7. The poor oppressed ISIS folks are just following their cultural traditions. Their traditions might not the same as ours, but they are equally valid.
Who are we to judge their culture?
(where have I heard that before?)

  8. Please free my latest comment from purgatory, today while the thread is still alive would really rock. Not trying to be snarky here.

  9. David Warren’s questions…
Do you think this story might make the front page? | Yes, it may be on the front page.
Do you think the media would seek more information? | Yes, to the extent that whatever is found, casts the israelis in poor light.
Do you think the matter might remain news for more than one day? | Yes, until the second coming. Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m referring to with, “the second coming” …
Somewhat related: the water supply in Mosul seems to be acting up. It could be anything.
and, I don’t understand why the Israelis don’t fill the tunnels from Gaza to Israel with $1000. of natural gas and set it off. Repeatedly if necessary. Super cost effective, it’s not like they wouldn’t know what’s headed their way…

Please consider referring to a better expression than a tactic of Islamic Jihad as an enemy? It smacks of PC moral cowardice. You are absolutely correct that Islam, thanks to multiculturalism and moral cowardice (compliments of the institutional left’s ownership of what remains of Western culture), is in global ascendancy.
The secular progressive left is so anti-Christian and delusional that any enemy of their cultural enemy must possess redeeming qualities that allow Muslims to fit in with their mythology that progressive infidels will be somehow exempted from the chopping block. The only other explanation is that progressives, being inherently racist, consider the murderous actions of the Islamists towards Christians excusable due to their deterministic and inherently sub-human nature – while somewhat convincing, such public positions are a guaranteed trip to the chopping block. The extremely delusional progressives and those that dominate the progressive bastions of academia believe in the myth that Islam can peacefully co-exist along with other cultures. Faith of such a magnitude, would far exceed that of the very Christians they hold in contempt.

  11. “Please consider referring to a better expression than a tactic of Islamic Jihad as an enemy?”
It’s what it’s been officially called since President George W. Bush named it that in 2001. It should be officially the War on Islam or the War to Preserve Western Civilization, but it ain’t. Get a grip.
If you think I’m PC then you must think that throwing all the Muslims out of Canada and Israel or putting them in the ground that I advocate at the comment you refer to is PC. Far from it.

  12. One of the reasons the progressives own the culture is that they have commandeered the language. Words like “liberal” describing progressives when there is nothing liberal about them is just another example. When you hear conservatives using liberal as negative adjective describing progressives, the progressives are certainly not offended (more likely amused) and young people are left confused.
Bush and his “religion of peace” shtick are not good examples of non-progressive speech. I was not accusing you of being PC, simply trying to urge you to refrain from repeating their inverted rhetoric. “Progressive” seems to be catching on. It’s a start.

  13. “One of the reasons the progressives own the culture is that they have commandeered the language.”
Look, we are literally engaged in and losing the ‘War on Terror’ and that moniker has not been co-opted by the Progs nor is it inaccurate.
Fighting against only the terrorists, which is what our governments have been doing, and Not fighting to eradicate Islam, which is the true enemy, is a recipe for failure.
Our enemy, Islam, is aiming to end our way of life. We should be trying to do the same to them.
    I have always advocated thus.

  14. Our enemy, Islam, is aiming to end our way of life. We should be trying to do the same to them.
    I have always advocated thus.

    I couldn’t agree more.
Which of the major powers: Russia, China, or the US will do the most to oppose the Islamic goal of world domination? Who should we be seeking as allies?

  15. Bee afraid: The deadly Asian giant hornet
Shocked workmen pictured what appears to be a huge killer hornet on a building site yesterday.
Asian giant hornets, which sport a 6mm sting, were rumoured to have landed in the UK – and this looks like the proof.
The big bug was spotted by stonemasons working in Fife, who were buzzed by the monster insect.
The hornets caused the deaths of six people in France through anaphylactic shock.
The insects have swarmed across France since their arrival in a shipment of Chinese pottery in 2004.
They have not been spotted in Scotland before.

  16. None of the above. It would not & is never reported.
Its Jews defending themselves that drives the world mad.

  17. “Which of the major powers: Russia, China, or the US will do the most to oppose the Islamic goal of world domination? Who should we be seeking as allies?”
LOL, your Russian handler is giving you the same absurd talking points he gives to set you free.
Answer: The major power with the best human rights record, the one who doesn’t have a blood soaked history of murdering 40-50 million of their own people.
Historically there is no difference in living under Russian, Chinese, or Islamic rule.
Query: What at all have Russia and China ever done to oppose Islamic world domination?
What have Russia and China ever done to back Israel?
Why is it the Islamists always chant Death to Israel, Death to America?
When they start chanting Death to Russia, Death to China, your question will be able to pass the horse laugh test.

  18. My first answer was USA. Did you mean Russia or China only? I think maybe all three will fight islam eventually but only one will fight them on our behalf and that will be our neighbours. Both Russia and china will stab us in the back eventually for their own preservation. I don’t think America will ever get so PC that they would let muzzlims go wild like they do in Paris. They will wake up long before then.

  19. Because being Progressive-Liberal-left is all about being PC and PC is all about having the “Correct” Prejudices/bigotry/racism. Christians are at the top of the PC bigotry list of approved hatreds.
There is more than enough bigotry in this world, Progs just add to the problem.

  20. Oz, I agree with you about the scale of the problem, but disagree with you about how to approach it. Within any movement, nation, or faction, there are always divisions. Your approach would do precisely what the jihadis want, lump all of Islam into one basket and essentially enforce unification around the most extreme factions. This is bad strategy to say the least. The goal in any conflict is to INCREASE the divisions within the enemy, not unify them.
By the same token, your approach will increase divisions within western civilization; we’ve already seen this happen among those unhappy with an ‘all or nothing’ approach. This too is bad strategy. Western governments have done little to unify the public behind the war on terror, to broaden its basis for public support. Lacking that broad base of support, governments are shyng away from doing much of anything, merely responding to events which occur.
And the magnitude of this division is obvious. We now have a government in the US which has been de facto opposed to fighting the war on terror for the last six years. This inclination to retreat and withdraw is not going anywhere, either this year or after the presidential elections in 2016 however they turn out. Millions of Americans have this view if the only alternative presented is yours.
The great liberator and wartime President Abraham Lincoln knew this. And he was both of those things because he was a great compromiser at bringing opposite sides into agreement. Above all, he heeded his credo: “A house divided cannot stand”.
It is this lack of unity which is causing us, as you noted earlier, to be losing this war.

  21. “Query: What at all have Russia and China ever done to oppose Islamic world domination?”
Good question. At the moment it is in Russia’s and China’s interest to let the US weaken itself fighting Islam. They only fight Islamists in their own countries. I have often wondered about this question, as I think they full well know the threat the dreams of the Caliphatists pose.
I also am not sure why N of 60 and SYF support Russia to the extent they do. I support the rebuilding of Russia as a democracy after the collapse of the Soviet system. Since Russia never has had democracy except for a brief period in 1917 and the people do not know how a democracy works, a tentative sort of democracy from the early 90s until Putin’s year 2,000 rise and has had a somewhat benevolent dictatorship since, I do not support Russia attempting to rebuild the Imperial/Soviet Empire. It clearly is trying to destabilize Ukraine with the aim of incorporating it back into Russia’s borders. It also clearly has GRU and military personnel in eastern Ukraine aiding the terrorist (rebels).

Mebbe not so regrettably it may come to that…for Israel and us….
