Oh, Shiny Pony!

All it needs is a snappy name, like “national energy program”.

Federal Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau confirms he would put a price on carbon emissions regardless of whether other countries do.
The comment came Friday at the Calgary Stampede when Sun News Network’s Rob Gibson asked the Grit chief if he’d take action on carbon emissions if major emitters like China and the United States did not.
Trudeau said Canada’s role is to be “an example,” adding “we need to show that we are taking this seriously.”

  1. India and China are adding new coal fired plants every week. Any reductions in CO2 emissions resulting from “putting a price on [Canada’s] carbon emissions” would be swamped by this new CO2 production. It would be like installing a sprinkler system in one room of a burning house. This is just political masturbation.

  2. A totally futile gesture.
Dear Shiny Pony, please indicate the loss of Canadian trade, negative effects on GDP in the event of implementation of such a policy. Also please indicate the figurative reduction in CO2 concentration and world temperature resulting from this.

  3. This is a good time to recognize that the Libranos have learned nothing in exile, and perhaps need a decade more out of power to get in touch with the source of modern prosperity, which is, burning carbon.
And why should Canada sacrifice the prosperity and independence of tens of millions of Canadians to satisfy the egos of an extremely small, fanatic, anti-human minority ( ” .. we need to show that we are taking this seriously..” )?

  4. “…to show that we are taking this seriously…”
Pray tell, what exactly are we supposed to take seriously?
One only takes something seriously when there is an outcome to be achieved, or in other words past failures force one to take future events seriously to avoid another failure.
However, for shiny pony – all outcomes are considered a success, merely to be seen doing something is a success.

  5. Hear that flushing sound? That’s the empty hair do’s western seats going down the flusher. Again, the brain dead advisors he has think this broken husk of a regional rump party can get a majority by appealing to radical fringe voters in GTA – Folks, we”re watching another not ready for prime time Lib leader self destruct on the way to the polls.
Absolutely abysmal policy advice – if I was a Liberal party supporter, I”d be calling for the head of the morons putting policy in the pony kid’s mouth.

  6. So Turdeau wants to have a cold tax and a food tax. Good idea dickhead, tax people for heating their homes and tax them for transporting necessities over long distances because of our sparse population. The second last thing you have to worry about is taxing industry because his buddies in Ontario exported it all to China. The very last thing to tax is the oil sands production because most of it is exported and the whole point is to influence behavior by consumption taxes. An aside, I wonder if he has banged any fat Kennedy’s like his mom?

  7. The lefties may be deliberately replacing the term CO2 with ‘carbon’ in order to shape the narrative. CO2 is a colourless, odourless gas that no one notices while most people have a negative view of carbon, it is black, dirty and almost impossible to clean once it has become encrusted on your barbecue grill or cookware.
The left likes to twist the meaning of words. ‘Liberal’ comes from the latin libere ‘to free’ and is the brother of ‘liberty’ yet the ‘liberals’ in politics are always for more laws, more restrictions, more taxes and a larger government to enforce them.

  8. What Al in Ottawa said. CO2 is as necessary to human life, as Oxygen is.

  9. It is another way for lefties to raise money with their support base’s approval. It is working here in BC where the idiots are happy to fork over money for nothing.

  10. Oh you’re a sly dog John for slipping in Ramadan violence with a thread on the Trudeau legacy … I amongst others totally see the connection.

  11. If India and China never introduce taxes on carbon usage, Justin Trudeau feels Canadians should as an example.
If India and China introduce taxes on carbon usage, Justin Trudeau feels Canadians should follow their example?
It doesn’t matter if other countries do, only that the Liberals feel we should tax anything that moves.

  12. This has Gerald Butts finger print all over it. Butts was the backroom hack who advised McGuinty to go all Greenie energy because he is afraid of CO2.
Ontario is now paying a huge economic penalty for such moronic public policy and it looks like he has convinced Justin to chug the Eco Greenie Kool Aide.
Dangerous and scary pair of fools to put in charge of the national economy

  13. Yup. Being an example is just the thing.
Look how quickly the US followed us onto the metric system.
    Wait, what….?

  14. A totally futile carbon tax, being touted by a totally futile airhead.
    What’s not to like?
    What’s that you say?
How can anyone with an IQ above room temperature take this brat-inna-hat seriously?
Beats the heck outta me, Turdeau 2. the return of bankruptcy to the west.

  15. The Drama Teacher, born with a silver spoon protruding from his Turdopian orifice and himself never wanting for anything, admires the forced rationing that his Uncle Fidel has plied the Cuban people with for so long.

  16. Trudeau is a thin-skinned balloon full of Co2. Thomas Mulcair is a nasty prick who well knows that whorehouse Jack’s orange tide is hemorrhaging over to the Shiny Pony’s Liberals. PM (puppet master) Harper is going to manipulate the leaders’ debates like the pro he is. Pop goes the weasel!

  17. While your assessment of Mr Butts is spot on, we should not forget that Ontario voters returned McGuinty’s even more radical successor with a majority government.
Mr Trudeau’s latest “policy initiative” should, I agree, should be the object of derision, but far too many people that I know are with the media in its adolescent swoon over the Hon. Member for Katimavik.csmwt5

  18. When Justin sets the example, billions of people in the developing world will see the error of their ways and gladly accept their current energy-poor lifestyles.
Their governments will turn on a dime and halt the construction of the planned thousands of coal fired power plants. Clearly, the activity to improve the lot of their citizens was directly influenced by Harper – once he’s gone they’ll immediately see the wisdom of Justin’s brilliant moral leadership and happily accept ongoing poverty.
Canada ‘setting an example’ means our standard of living needs to get dragged down to third world levels. That’s a promise Trudeau is fully capable of delivering!

  19. The signs of the Shiny Pony’s former career are starting to rear their severely ignorant heads.
The only example Canada would set by pricing carbon, would be that of an idiot who believes he can take a cordless drill and bore a 3/8″ hole in his head and not beaffected.

  20. Trudeau said Canada’s role is to be “an example,”
Admittedly I haven’t paid much attention and so probably missed it but does anyone know where in the Constitution it says that? Or know of a particular treaty we’ve signed that says that?
Or is he just making stuff up again?

  21. Any tax on carbon put in place will land squarely on the “well-head” not the “burner tip” Therefore, Ontario and Quebec will not be affected one little iota.
It will indeed be NEP II
    God help us all.

  22. Tosser. Yeah let’s have a New Tax to cripple Canada’s economy.

  23. He doesn’t need a majority; only enough like-minded NDP leftards to form a coalition, then all bets are off.

  24. CO2 is a lousy greenhouse gas but a great political gas.
CO2 is a linear molecule with no permanent dipole moment (although the asymmetric stretch mode and the bending
mode do provide transition moments). H2O has a great big permanent dipole moment. EM radiation loves
electric dipole moments – grabs on to them, you know. CO2 has a permanent quadrupole moment, to which EM radiation
says, “whatever.” That’s why H2O vapour is the dominant greenhouse gas, and CO2 is utterly insignificant.
On the other hand, CO2 is a great political gas. It can be described as “carbon” (black evil stuff – coal! – as someone
noes above). Of course we also are carbon (the parts that aren’t water), but whatever. Water is ubiquitous and if someone
tried to regulate atmospheric water even low-information voters might realize how stupid the idea is. But CO2! If I can
regulate your CO2, I can regulate everything about you, including your life itself!! It is perfect!!

  25. I heard the radio interview trudeau did. Regrettably the radio host chose not to challenge him on any of the stupid comments he made.
Saw a few pics of pony on line dressed as a ‘cowboy’. Reminded me of Lyle Lovett’s tune, ‘That’s right your not from Texas’.

  26. It won’t be Justin “Trust Fund” Trudeau that freezes in the dark to set an example if he wins, it’ll be the dumbasses that vote for him.
Somehow, though, I don’t think he’ll get any more traction with his Green Plan than Dion or the Russian Count did.
Don’t forget that every time Turdo speaks off-the-cuff, he puts his foot in it just like Obama does and he already has supplied plenty of gaffs to make into election ads.

  27. Saw a few pics of pony on line dressed as a ‘cowboy’.
Would that be considered cross-dressing? Dressing like a man?

  28. Star has a hit piece on Koch Brothers and Fraser Institute July 6th to coincide with Trudeau out west. Check it out, written by a foreign correspondent. Keywords: ultra right wing, pro Oilsands, pro-pipelines pro-skeptic etc. real dreamy prose for hypocritical progressives.

  29. What we need is a huge tax on diamonds (pure carbon). That way nobody gets hurt.

  30. … “we need to show that we are taking this seriously.”
Yes, Justin, that’ll show everyone. Like your white cowboy hat and denim costume for the Calgary Stampede shows us you are taking the needs, interests, and concerns of Western Canada seriously.

  31. It would be quite the spectacle to see the Shiny Pony riding a bronco. He’s no cowboy, I might hire him to shovel out the stalls and work his way up. The Liberals don’t believe in starting from the bottom, they’re foisting an immature, unprepared drama teacher on the country as qualified for the top job, somebody who needs direction and coaching from the “smart” brains behind the black curtain. We never get the same answer to the same question twice, it’s a new tactic, create a mess of confusion to go with the empty suit. With hair and a sexy lisp to wow the air headed ladies who are supposedly swooning over him and presto, you’ve got a winner.

  32. “…With hair and a sexy lisp to wow the air headed ladies who are supposedly swooning over him …”
Hey! That wasn’t called for. The nerve of ya – calling Paul Wells and Robert Fife air-headed!

  33. Watched “Dennis Miller: America 180 Degrees” yesterday. The first 15 minutes especially is a riot! I was in tears! One line was, “…Liberals suffer Intention Deficit Disorder”. And just rips into the climate change crap!
Clearly, the next election issue has been set: Carbon taxes.
    Perfect! Let’s get at it!

  34. Trudeau combines the intellectual flexibility of his father with the sober wisdom of his mother.

  35. The back room add writers are cursing.
How do they parody the likes of Just-In?
He does all their work for them.
The “Attack Adds” of the next election will be Just-In in his own words.
I am happy the Libtards chose him as their messiah, he is self destructing faster than Iggy.
As for the Ontar I Owe crusted on vote, sure they will vote for Lisp Master and pretty hair, those are the only values Toronto knows.
Canada needs to set an example.
That civilization is valuable to us, there for property rights, equality before the law, rule of law and personal responsibility are to be the standards of Canada.
    Not victimhood, theft and freeloading.
The cure for the kleptocracy of our large cities… make them “Provinces” in their own right, within their current borders.
Then watch their economies implode when the ability to vote themselves the wealth of the country side is gone.
Socialism is wonderful until you run out of other peoples wealth.
The Whynners of Ontar-I Owe will finish off the odious equalization scheme and finish manufacturing in that Province for decades.
By cutting off their ability to pick the pockets of the Rest of Canada, we can ensure they get what they voted for… Good and Hard.

  36. The west should just separate from Canada and be done with these useless idiots from Quebec and Ontario. I live in Ontario and can’t stand this place any longer. I mean Quebec has held our feet to the fire for 40 plus years with fears of separating and we all know they will never going to do it. Do much money they’d be giving up. However, I think if Western Canada ever got serious about the issue they wouldn’t threaten for to long…they’d pull the plug and be done with it. That is why I like the mindset out there. Ontario is a failing province and in 10 years we will be a welfare state like our eastern provinces.

  37. Go for it Shiny Pony!
    Worked out perfectly for Dion,
… and by the time of the next federal campaign Ontario will be in a much more dire state than it was then.

  38. I remember very very clearly the day I got layed off: Dec 23rd 1981.
Was 200 Hrs short of my Journeyman ticket. Was pissed…spent the next 3 years as a cab driver in Calgary. Had a sign I posted in my car:
“I used to be a productive menber of an idustrial nation – now I’m a cab driver in a banana republic..Thank you Pierre.!”
His fathers vindictive action against Albertans held me (amongst 100’s of thousands in Alberta), back by a minimum of 5 years… I will NEVER forget…and particularly with the “2nd Coming” of that arrogant little pretender.
Game on Justin…you will not win a seat in this province EVER. Try to screw us one more time and you will see an unstoppable demand for Independance

  39. Canada produces about 2% of the global GHGs caused by human activities. Our contribution is insignificant to the planet. Everyone in Canada could stop using petroleum and like the Amish and it would have absolutely no effect on global GHGs. Anyone who is truly concerned about human caused GHGs would boycott all products from the world’s two greatest producers of GHGs: China and the USofA. Until JT recommends that, he’s just another climate-change-global-warming poser.

  40. “Trudeau combines the intellectual flexibility of his father with the sober wisdom of his mother.”
Trudeau combines the intellectual flexibility of his father….yup…a lot of us call that pscyhopathic want to control.
the sober wisdom of his mother.”….Hummmmmmm….Mick Jagger may have something to say about that.

  41. I’m very afraid that your are mistaken Oz. The young Dauphin will be far more effective on the campaign trail than Iggy or Dionne or Martin. No matter what stupid, vapid, ignorant comment he makes, the left-wing sycophants in the media see only one thing, that his name is Trudeau. They will fellate him shamelessly (and figuratively while no doubt wishing they could do so physically as well).
He is probably the second most successful post turtle ever, after O’bumbles.
