If it seemed as though some scenes of CNN’s documentary series “Chicagoland” were coordinated by Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s City Hall and the show’s producers, that’s because they were.
More than 700 emails reviewed by the Tribune reveal that the production team worked hand in hand with the mayor’s advisers to develop storylines, arrange specific camera shots and review news releases officially announcing the show.
Producers asked the mayor’s office to help them set up key interactions in what the cable network has billed as a nonscripted eight-part series, including Emanuel’s visits with the school principal who emerged as a star of the show, emails show. …
The production team for the series, whose final episode aired Thursday night, told Emanuel’s staff that particular scenes would present the mayor in a positive light, with one of the producers expressing a desire to showcase the mayor “as the star that he really is.”
What’s new, TV and film made a obvious turn to the left in 1999, media types thought Gore was a shoe-in. They thought discreet propaganda would be enough, but people narrowly saw through it. After W was reelected in 2003 with a much bigger margin, the media in TV and film went full tilt left. Remember how the TV media used themselves to portray a large group protesting with Cindy Sheehan, then when a photo taken from above was released, Cindy was there with about 4 others, all the rest used to make the crowd so much bigger were media party people. This attempt to deceive has continued to move left unabashed and apologetically. As Rush says, they’re not even trying to hide it anymore.

Having grown up in the Chicago area – I was curious when I saw this in the program listing. So I watched 1 episode of Chicagoland with my husband – and mid way through I said to him, ‘This is pure propaganda – they’re laying the groundwork for him to run for president in 2016 or beyond’.
My suspicions are confirmed.
This is why I don’t have TV in the house.
Any/all of the big network TV shows, comedies, dramas, all of it have a -huge- political propaganda content. Even Warehouse 13 on the frickin’ SciFi network did some anti-fracking theme this week. Its not at all subtle, either. Heavy handed, predictable and boring as watching paint dry.
In order to escape it, I’ve taken to watching the occasional Japanese anime. If you can find a series that isn’t all about the too-short skirts, the plot themes can be surprising and different. Not always -nice-, I hasten to add, but different enough you can’t guess what’s going to happen.
It’s like the soviet union of old all propaganda and nanny state-ism.
