Cold, Canuck Hands

Lorne Gunter;

Despite having campaigned in three federal elections to repeal all of C-68 if given a majority, the Harper Tories wimped out and only axed the registry. They left unchanged several Draconian anti-gun laws and regulations, such as permitting a gun owner’s ex-spouse to have his licence suspended on the flimsiest of pretexts or granting the RCMP the right to ban any class of firearm, without permission from Parliament or even the courts.
It is still possible for average Canadians who own a gun for hunting or target shooting or vermin control on a farm to spend years in prison for not having all the right paperwork authorizing them to buy a firearm, to buy ammunition for that firearm and to transport that firearm to a gun range.
In other words, with their repeal of the registry the Tories only scratched the surface of the Liberals’ de facto attempt to outlaw civilian gun ownership in Canada. It was one of the unrepealed sections of C-68 that came back last week to bite the law-abiding firearms community.

Send it to your MP. (h/t don morris)

  1. Checkout the nomination results in MacLeod, Alberta to see the direction the CPC is going. Not the party I envisioned coming out of Reform. Who controls the CPC now as they certainly are not listening to membership anymore.

  2. This is the last straw.
There was a time where if a cop knocked on my door at 3:00am in the morning, I would have put on the coffee and invited him in to see how I could help.
No more. I don’t need their protection, I will not abide their bullying, nor will I respect their servitude to their liberal masters. As a formerly law abiding gun owner I am sick and fuggin tired of being held responsible for the crimes of failed liberal social experiments. Good lord – the morons wanting to grab our guns also want to legalize drugs starting with pot! Do these morons honestly think criminals are buying 3000 dollar rifles to commit their crimes?
I have a message for Justin Turdeau and his lickspittles in the RCMP and judiciary:
    GO
    F**K
    YOURSLEVES
Pardon my fwench, and sorry for the rant.

  3. Yep you’n me both…..
    I remember sayin’:
“They wanna ban guns and legalize MJ!”
Even I didn’t take that too seriously but that is the new reality.
I figure the LEO attitude is a result of screening new hires then a lotta tutoring.
I recall sayin’ to the Gestapo at my door…..”30 years ago, I would invited ya in…..but I have changed ’cause mosta you guys have changed. I don’t make the rules I just play the game.”

  4. The CPC lost me long ago. They have the majority for some time and have not delivered on anything markedly conservative…Bail-Outs for car companies and banks, late term abortions are still legal, the CBC still operates, legal gun owners are still in fear of the government….on and on and on. This is as conservative as it gets in Canada. God help us if the NDP ever get a majority federally. Just look at Obama’s Amerika for a glimpse of our future.

  5. Welcome to Libtard Canada, where criminals have rights, property owners and taxpayers have none.
    Reform saw this clearly.
The Cons do not seem so wise.
Liberal Lite is not smart, if you stand for nothing, expect no one to support you.
Perhaps we need to highlight the collusion between politicians and career criminals.
    Kleptocracy is a career too.

  6. “Do these morons honestly think criminals are buying 3000 dollar rifles to commit their crimes?”
It isn’t about preventing crime, and never was.

  7. As Reagan said: “… elected officials don’t need to see the light, just feel the heat.”

  8. “The only good bureaucrat is one with a pistol at his head. Put it in his hand and it’s good-bye to the Bill of Rights.” ~ H. L. Mencken

  9. this is one of the two reason I stopped supporting the CPC. the other was the continued supporting of the Communist Broadcasting Corporation. The CPC has become a centre left party, not the right wing conservative party I worked for for many years.

  10. Many posters (those above excepted) have made it clear that implementing Liberal policy is A-okay as long as the Liberals are TEAM BLUE and throw in some stupid TUFF ON KRIME stuff in there too. It’s very simple: Harper perceives supporting gun rights as risky and (correctly) sees his base as a bunch of lobotomized sheep who would support him if he nationalized their children. The perceived risk/reward means no restoration of gun rights.
    Partisanship is mental illness.
