    Same old story, starts out with small level of tax(theft).
    Progressively grow, in lock step with the growth of parasites at the teat.
    Systematically looting the many, to enrich the well connected few.
    Producers balk at level of theft, robbery methods get ever more draconian.
    War breaks out, makers versus takers.
    Unless takers get severely diminished, makers lose either way.
    When the takers win, society stagnates.
    When the makers prevail, some time passes then rinse and repeat.

    I’d much rather see them housed in a proper jail for the rest of their lives, having been arrested, tried and convicted by a jury of their peers in the proper fashion according to English Common Law.
    In fact, I’d like to see more of that in Canada, rather than the two-tier Old Boy Network version we have presently.

  22. Phantom, from what I’m reading the police are defending and helping to evacuate the student protestors. It’s the National Guard and the local brownshirt-equivalents (colectivos) that are doing the killing.

  25. The left is always the enemy of freedom. They are not just people with a different opinion, they are the enemy. Just read some of the comments (in this country) about what they would like to do to conservatives and right thinking people. It can happen here. We are not immune to the evils of communism. Imagine the ‘turd’ and that commie mulcair running things for a while. The stuff that keeps me awake at night. Lefties are not nice people, they have blackened hearts and are pure evil. Why else would they align themselves with islam for an example. They do not ever have our best interests in mind, only their own sick ideologies that they will pursue by any means neccessary.
    I grow weary of people on the right admonishing guys like me to stick to the moral high ground, or don’t get down to their level. Bullshit. There is no honor in a ‘moral’ defeat. Only death or enslavement.
    As always, just my humble opinion.

Those who support them are certainly practicing a lesser evil – the evil of complete lack of self-knowledge or critical thinking ability, the evil of being a sheep in the guise of a human being, bent to evil purposes – but these are still evils.

    Imagine if Hitler had been in jail since 1945 and died there in the ’80s, a crazy wee little old demented man. Inconvenient for all his hangers on, wouldn’t you say? “Your hero wears diapers.” Kind of takes all the wind out of their sails.
    Imagine if Bin Laden was in Leavenworth. In diapers. Eating bacon sandwiches. On TV.
    I’m pretty sure that would be a much worse punishment than a bullet in the head.

  38. Chavez held power by catering to the poor. How much he truly helped them is open to debate, but at all times he made it clear that the poor were his priority. And they rewarded him with votes.
    But he did it in an unsustainable manner. PDVSA, the national oil company, was looted. The commercial class was crushed. Infrastructure was neglected. And federal debt soared.
    The last few years has seen Venezuela running out of other people’s money. Without money and without Chavez’s cult of personality, the system has come crashing down, revealing the rot that lay within.

True enough, Phantom, but in Third World countries all institutions of decent society are weak, and therefore the terror of the man may never leave the ordinary person’s psyche while the Saddam/ Stalin still lived. Maybe not so much for a despot new to the job, like Maduro. All his henchman would need to be jailed, as well. And a constitution that guaranteed property rights would give the populace a bigger stake in seeing off future Chavez/Maduro wannabes, and increase foreign investment.
    It’s hard to believe Venezuela had a European level of GDP not so long ago.

    Venezuela had a European level of GDP, but it was not “equitably” distributed. Income inequality is a crime according to the socialists. They would rather have the poor be poorer, as long as the rich are less rich.
    This is what socialism and income equality bring people. 100 years ago, Argentina was the richest nation in South America too.

    em, well, Harper spoke out against it and demanded that property be returned to the residents. Redfraud did not. High River was coincidently not Harpers political rivals riding. Redfraud’s it was.
    Fact was, there were no little old ladies stuck in their homes in wheelchairs. If you read the reports, RCMP targeted homes known to have firearms and left thousands of others alone. No little old ladies in those homes they chose to ignore?
    If you honestly believe that Redfraud had nothing to do with the Martial Law scandal of 2013 and no influence with the provincial CFO and the RCMP, it’s you that needs some help.
