So, it's come to this - the only thing standing between the western world and World War III are the French.
Western and Iranian negotiators were putting the finishing touches on a far-reaching nuclear deal. Then, at virtually the last minute, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius joined in the talks. It didn't take long for the negotiations to unravel -- and for Fabius to publicly declare this round of the talks to be over. [...]
Fabius, echoing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is said to have had two serious concerns with the deal. First, the agreement failed to prevent Tehran from continuing construction on its nuclear reactor at Arak. Once the facility is operational, a key part of Iran's nuclear program would be immune to airstrikes because bombing the plant would lead to massive, deadly, radiation leaks. Fabius was also upset that the deal didn't require Iran to reduce its stockpiles of 20% enriched uranium, which is approaching weapons-grade. The Hollande government, Fabius told French radio, would not be part of a "fool's game."

Potassium iodide is available on Amazon and at Walmart apparently...

And another reason to ask "Why is there no Impeachment proceedings currently in progress?" God knows there's reason enough, Fast & Furious, Benghazi, IRS, Obamacare to name a few examples of Bin Lyin's transgressions. He's not getting a bigger nose, just bigger ears....is that a drone I hear?
Kerry is as stupid as Obama is. End of story.
When you have to rely on a Frenchman who is probably wearing his wises panties. For what passes as reason in this World today. We are in big trouble.
Iran is playing Europe along with the idiots, idiot Kerry.
Like cat with a mouse.
Obama is just waiting till Iran has nukes for his anti-Israel policy of extermination.
After all he's as Muslim as the ayatollah.
Than the duel between the Sunnis with other sects of Islam, can begin in earnest once the Jewish state is destroyed.
Look how he with his backers have inflamed ant-Jewish sentiment in Europe plus, the rest of the World. See how many States Obama has made Sharia compliant dictatorships. How convenient that they encircle Israel.
Watch the madness of the Democracies importing peoples that hate its very existance while covering up any monstrous behaviours with their bought press.
As Muslims continue to State their plan time end again how they will take over the West for Islam.
They do it every day, yet our politicians deny sanity.
Kate,
WW2 started in 2001. The French are just trying to keep the most deadly weapon out of the other sides hands. This may have delayed the mullah's access to it for another few months.
For that I'm thankful.
What's up with the UK? Weren't they their too?
Well delighted to hear that Laurent "Fabulous" actually does know "Jacques"!
Maybe St. Jean D'Arc is polishing his sometimes rusty halo...I think that deserves a hat tip and a chilled bottle of champagne.
Maybe the Lord is helping you more than you think...
Lord knows that if we sent Herr "True-Dope-ia", with his love for dictatorships, we'll all be speaking german in short order.

The French may be the only major Western power left that subscribes to the view that states have no eternal allies, only eternal interests. Consequently they don't give a shit if they get condemned for blowing up Greenpeace boats, supporting Saddam Hussein, or pissing all over Obama's and Kerry's foreign policy legacy.
The Obama regime is an example of how dangerous stupidity can be. We need to take note, we have the potential for a similar dumb-headed regime if people are not paying attention and being influenced by the media party.
it doesn't matter whet treaty Iran signs...
anymore than the treaties Hitler signed..
they both had/have an agenda ..
That's right Liz.
The Obama regime has been based on 'tickling their ears', tell them what they want to hear, and the media plays along.
And the LIV (low information voter) still votes.
Lord help us indeed...
"Does Kerry really believe his rhetoric?
I hope so,
If not, this secretary of state will be remembered as a self-deceiving bumbler."

Now that John Kerry has his fingers on Iran, Israel, and the Mideast Nuclear wrist of the world,
I can finish telling one of my war stories.
It was Christmas Day, Early dawn, 1968,
those memories are still seared, seared in my brain.
We were slipping back down the Cambodian, Bon Son River, after delivering weapons to the Khmer Rouge,
John Kerry was standing on the deck of our boat with his arms folded like a Master and Commander,
North Korean dope smoke was still curling around his head.
We both had been smoking North Korean dope,
That we had traded for peaceful nuclear materials, and I was sitting there in the 50 Cal. gun turret.
Master and Commander John had been telling me about his recurring wet dream he had about someday licking catchup off of a beautiful rich woman's neck,
becoming a yacht owner, President of the United States, or Secretary of State.
In that early dawn light,
All of a sudden I saw a Vietnamese river dock loaded with tons of 40 pound bags of white rice.
Out of the corner of my blood shot eyes I saw a huge 60 foot Anaconda snake come out from under that dock and strike our Master and Commander Kerry.
Some of the other men said I was having dope smoking hallucinations,
but when you see real shit,
it is not dope smoking hallucinations.
Well,
Anyway I opened up with my 50 Cal. and started pumping rounds into that snake and other bags of rice on that river dock.
Explosions were going off everywhere and our Master and Commander John Kerry stood there with a frozen stare on his face, his arms folded, not saying a word,
his right arm bleeding,
it was the most heroic thing this war veteran has ever seen.
During the fog of battle that huge 60 foot Anaconda snake had bitten Master Kerry on the forearm, others tried to say it was explosive rice burns. Can you can believe that crap?
But I saw that 60 foot Anaconda snake strike him on the forearm just before I shot it,
And when you see real shit, its not hallucinations..
Anyway...
Master and Commander John Kerry had a Band-Aid put on his wound at an aid station,
and I put him in for his third purple heart.
12 days later, after making a movie, he left Vietnam.
Never did I realize he would be the Heroic man he is today.
So we in America, Israel, and the Mideast, can sleep tight in our beds tonight knowing that the Nuclear Weapons of the world are securely wrapped in the arms of our Secretary of State, Master and Commander John Kerry,
and nothing other than Agent Orange, Dementia, or Money, will ever stop his continued heroic gaze.
-
This is for all the other Brave River Rats that fought and died with honor in the Brown Snaked Waters of Vietnam..
Regardless of whether Iran is allowed to actually make nuclear weapons, it will always have the means to acquire them, whether from Russia, China, North Korea, or Pakistan.
Iran’s biggest immediate military threat would be towards Israel, but also Saudi Arabia if indeed they were legitimately considering these targets as the MSM would wish you to accept. Maybe yes, maybe no.
To the contrary, the biggest threat to Iran is Saudi Arabia and Israel with the help of the “Worlds Army”, aka - the unelected army of Western Liberal Elitists to promote western elitists interests by force if necessary around the world.
The biggest threat to the US is its corrupt Marxist leaning executive administration and liberalized institutional infrastructure that has opened its borders to allow any disagreeable nation to pack the US with infiltrators, guerilla’s, terrorists, spies, drugs, and weapons of mass destruction.
The bottom line is that western nations need to get the f*ck out of the global mess and start looking after their own borders while cleaning house from within. That is if they wish to survive as wealthy, free and democratic nations.

Another fly in the ointment?
Yet another example of the French making deals based on whether or not they are good for -France-. This is a principle I wish MY government would be more devoted to.
A not-much-mentioned side note to the French decision: you can -drive- from Paris to Tehran. Its a bit farther than Montreal to Vancouver, and the roads are crap, and you have to cross that narrow bit between the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmora in Turkey... but you can definitely drive there. Google even generated a nice turn-by-turn map for me.
https://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en
So when you see the Americans do one thing and the French do the opposite, that's part of the reason why. THEY do not -ever- forget they are on the same plot of land with these @ssh0les.
Yeah well, I always though the French still harbour the notion, that they were still the Louis IVX superpower. Fortunately, for us all, they still have a few Richelieu's in positions of influence.
True Phantom and they wouldn't be stopped at the gates of Vienna. A nuclear device packed into a vehicle and exploded in any European capital would do the trick.
Managed to catch Swiftboat bloviating over what a wonderful job he and his cohorts did in their non-deal, and how wonderful they were in general, and how holier than thou their efforts were.
Broadcast live on Al Jaz, BBC Int and CNN Int. But not the major american networks. Nada. Zilch......
Interesting to watch the Dumbos congratulate themselves on their failures. This is a failure to be proud of, considering the massive giveaways. What was the takeaway from it, a Chamberlain style deal? That would be the Obozo way.
Europe, (not we) have to rely on the French to hold true in this instance because France is the ONLY west European power with a nuclear strike/retaliation force within reach of Iran. Of course Britain and France both have nuclear boomers, also, but I think the UK is probably too far for Iran to strike them. France has no other country in Europe upon which they can depend for nuclear defense. Thus, they are wiling to step up. Of course, for troops on the ground, I suggest the Poles, but didn't obama stab them in the back also?
The French are just doing the Saudis bidding.
http://www.defensenews.com/article/20131007/DEFREG01/310070026/French-Defense-Minister-Talks-Deals-Saudi-Arabia
The question is if Iran is evil why are the Saudis not evil too.
They are acquiring nuclear weapons.

Good for Fabius for looking out for France's interest. Sasquatch is right about Fabius being a modern day Richelieu in a sense. Kerry is more like a Molotov, and The One is only looking for a legacy to compliment his fundamental changing the US toward a Marxist state. His one domestic legacy is falling apart.
DanBC is right about a Chamberlain style deal.
Old Country Boy, yes Obama stabbed Poland, and Ukraine in the back in the last few years, kind of like the Czechs in 1938.
The legacy of "The Shattered Peace" (1919), by Andelman, is still with us. He wrote that trying to remake 7th century cultures to mirror ours did not work with the remaking of ancient borders during the 1920s and will never work with trying to bring liberal democracy today with our troops. They will have to find their own way, and we will have to be aggressive in keeping them confined to slaughtering themselves and not exporting their barbaric culture to our shores. France appears to be learning this.
Nold >
Including massive shipping ports.
Does France have illegal arms and hard drugs imported from Afghanistan and other Third World countries in its borders? If so then you can get anything in, Frances borders are nearly as open and unprotected as the US is.
And why worry; Islamic immigration Jihad will displace France into a Middle Eastern country within a few decades.
Mark Steyn... http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/363618/not-tonight-josephine-mark-steyn
"a key part of Iran's nuclear program would be immune to airstrikes because bombing the plant would lead to massive, deadly, radiation leaks"
I fail to see a problem here. Are there any civilized countries immediately adjacent to Iran?
They (Obama, Kerry) are playing the Iranians off against the Saudis.
Amateurs.
The Saudis and Iranians are playing the long game, and always have been. Neither trusts the other.
OBOZO and Swiftboat only care about the polls coming out next week.
And the Emperor thought he looked great in his new clothes... http://cnsnews.com/news/article/patrick-goodenough/kerry-iran-nuke-talks-i-don-t-think-we-re-stupid
IMO Iran has already acquired some type of nuclear weapon and/or is way closer to developing one than the intelligence community thinks. Cue to Israel, who had nukes in the mid 80s which remained unconfirmed until the 90s.
They are also deterred from using them by Israel and China. China deters the US and Russia, and so on. The danger is, and has always been, nuclear weapons in the hands of terrorists who cannot be deterred, especially when a cleansing religious war is the objective.
That's the danger of Iran having nukes, but their threshold of use is extremely high. We should be as worried as Pakistan in that regard. Once the nuclear genie gets out of the bottle, as it did to end WW2, it will be hard to put it back in.
This fellow veteran would like to pass on his personal compliments to all who have served, everywhere, especially in the hot zones. As noted in a fine documentary I watched last night on TV, our battle group performance in the Sarajevo airport in 1992 is testimony that the Canadian Forces are the finest military force in the world. This particular operation involved humanitarian aid, so check that out you white poppy twits.
France's border security doesn't matter. The EU is a common market. What matters is whoever has the weakest border security.
Shamrock, actually Israel had deployable weapons by 1970. It had several available during Yom Kippur in 1973.
France was for centuries the bulwark and the champion of Western Europe against Islam - with
Charles the Hammer, the First Crusade, Saint Louis, then Napoleon. Of course Louis XIV sat out
the Turkish attacks on Austria, and Charles de Gaulle betrayed us all over Algeria - betrayed
twice, first by throwing away the French government there, second by allowing so many Algerians
into France. And we in Canada have no reason to love him.
The American liberals live in Cloud-Cuckoo-Land (as do ours). John Kerry is one of them, and
he shares their fatuous ideas. That columnist Jackson Diehl is almost as bad as the rest in his
assumptions that Kerry's ideas might be good if ever they could be implemented. Anyway,
Americans have John Kerry, we have Justin Trudeau. Maybe PMSH could send Justin along to
John Kerry as his special envoy. It would be good theatre and would keep St. Justin out of Canada.
Obumbles leads with his behind, and J Kerry is his new behind!!!
Phantom, that was going to be my point, that gay Paree is a little closer and easier to acsess that Obumbleville is
Knight99, Russia, China, nor Pakistan would sell/give Iran nukes, but I think that the Norks are colaberating with Iran on nukes as I type
cgh, Israel decided in 1959 to build their own nukes because some Jews in the USA heard Kennedy bad mouthing them during his electioneering. Then and there they decided that they could not depend on others.
Oh please. WW3? A little dramatic. France has no military capabilities aside from its elite counter-terror forces and the FFL which it uses to prop up various despots in Africa. Israel should just blow that stuff up already.
Typical LAS nonsense, starting with this, "France has no military capabilities aside from its elite counter-terror forces and the FFL...."
To start with, France has 17 regular army brigades, in addition to the French Marines and the 7,000 members of the FFL. It has 84 warships in commission, and 10 nuclear powered submarines, four of them SSBNs and 6 of them SSNs. As Western nations go, France is the only country other than the US to have full deck aircraft carrier capabiilty, and the only Western nation other than the US to have amphibious assault capabiilty. In air force it maintains 18 complete squadrons, making it second only to the US in NATO.
And of course it's one of just five recognized nuclear powers with both submarine and land-based ICBMs. And it should be noted in passing that France has a complete weapons production industry for all of its major systems.
So much for your "no major capabilities".
As for WW3, yes, that is over the top hyperbole. But you need to admit that things are moving in the wrong direction, not the right direction.
LOL. And they still require the American crutch for Libya and Syria.
What American crutch? The US was conspicuous by its absence in Libya. Now are you going to own up that you were wrong, or are you going to keep hiding under the bed like a little girl?
What is it like to live in a parrelel reality? Has Harper balanced the budget yet?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Military_intervention_in_Libya#Action_by_international_forces
Well, if cgh can correctly spell "parallel," he's one up on you.
L-ass, serious question here, how f*cking old are you??????
Do you even read your own links? The entry states clearly that the military operation was conducted by the French and British at the beginning. Even at the end, the US was not even close to being a majority of the forces deployed.
Now man up and admit that you were wrong.
French and British forces were utterly dependent on American logistical support. I am right you are wrong, period. France isn't going to do anything.
Not a bad day when the WAPO deputy editorial page editor hits Kerry in Krauthammeresque fashion AND there's a link in the banner to Rob Ford doing a better job of apologizing for his respective mistakes than Obama has done for his own.
Nevertheless, this is up at Instapundit today:
http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-11-08/there-would-be-no-iranian-nuclear-talks-if-not-for-fracking
It's Bloomberg and all that (so I'm surprised the article doesn't credit Obama personally with the increase in US oil production), and it was written before the collapse of the talks, but it seems to me that this information really demonstrates why the encouragement of these sorts of developments ought to be central to US and Western security policy. The ungainsayable benefits have got to be blindingly obvious, even to the most balefully clueless and economically knuckle-dragging on the left. I am completely mystified by the ambivalence of the current US administration to this approach: here we are in the late autumn of 2013 -- the year we were all assured by the media know-it-alls that Obama would be making an affirmative decision on Keystone XL (which will clearly facilitate American production as well as Canadian, and thereby further displace Middle Eastern imports), and we don't even know the timeline at this point? And what about exploration, development and exploitation of fossil fuel resources in US government lands?
Also, for an added angle on all of Mr. Kerry's poseur "statesmanship" on the subject (eerily reminiscent of the 2004 presidential election campaign), see:
http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2013/11/10/thank-heaven-for-the-french-iran-kerry/
which was linked by Mark Steyn.
More unsubstantiated rubbish from you. The US would have been unable to function without NATO airbases. In fact a major part of the logistical support was the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and French and British sealift capability. The US has 12 carrier groups. Where were they? Hiding on the other side of the world? Hiding somewhere where Bammy and Billary could say, "wasn't us done this thing."
You're half right about one thing. France doesn't have to do anything. They were the ones doing all the shooting in Mali while Bammy and Billary were talking smack and playing surrender monkey to the Russians over Syria.
Who is the real threat in the ME? I consider it to be Saudi Arabia and radical Sunni Islam not the Shiites in Iran. It was not Iran that invaded Iraq it was vice versa. Iranians have lots of reasons to distrust the west, particularly the USA.
The Americans and Iranians will get back together because it makes strategic sense for both of them. The USA does not have to bend over for the Saudis anymore as oil independence is reached. Radical Islam is funded by the Saudis and they have a lot to answer for. Securing a normal relationship with Iran will allow the USA to play forces within the ME against one another and above all will allow Iran to focus more of its influence on the countries to the north who are fighting Russian domination.
What does this mean for Canada? In a self serving way Canada would be better off if the entire ME went up in smoke. Canadian ambitions of becoming true blue eyed Arabs of the north has to become a national imperative. Exporting crude oil to international markets has to be at the top of the CPC agenda. It would allow Canada the financial power to enhance protection of the Canadian Artic and would allow Canada to continue diversifying trade away from the American economy. It would allow Canada an independent foreign policy and a maturation away from American dependence.
In true Canadian fashion we are once again pissing away a golden opportunity to achieve true maturity as a country. As much as I think that international forces from OPEC, Russia and the USA are actively working against Canadian interests our own citizens appear to be more than capable of killing the goose. I am not anti American there is much of the country I love like my own. However, at some point even allies recognize that they have divergent interests. American policy over the past decade have shown a need by Canada to forge a more independent path.
CT >
You nailed it!
We cut our own throats every time, but let’s also not forget that it’s dangerous to flaunt too much wealth in front of our decaying Empire to the south.
While every no-nothing busybody in Canada worries about ME affairs and helping to build a totalitarian American Empire full of police state ghetto’s and armored ivory towers, they forget that these same corrupt totalitarians view us as an easily accessible resource cache in the north.
That said we are a valuable resource rich nation to anyone, from China and Russia to stealth immigration Jihad. We simply can’t lose focus on world history and our place in it.
Agree fully but the one problem I see is that Israel is left out of the loop. No need to tell you Iran and Israel are arch enemies and I don't see anything the USA can do to make them kiss and be nice. American intervention means losing one or the other. Iran will get their nukes and Israel will try to take them out. There's no easy way out of this.
Duh!! Israel has 200 tactical nukes, why are they worried about Iran?
Israel has never commented on their nuclear arsenal so where do you get the 200 ?
