One little quibble: Shiny's dad was banging virtually every female Grit of a certain age back then, so it's kind of difficult to find one who didn't and then debate her.

Twitter reminds me of the hillbilly term "Flustercluck"

Meaning a compounded fiasco where many things are going wrong at once, but in this case, flustered individuals are all talking at once, trying to resolve a problem and getting nowhere. The word evokes the sounds and images of a group of frightened hens.

Well, Mr. Kinyobe, it's certainly true that Trudeau had no success with women until he got into politics, but whether it was cocaine, or merely that ultimate aphrodisiac, power, that changed his fortunes is an open question. He had no reputation for drugs; in those days, when cocaine was fashionable and readily available, that wouldn't mean he never used it, but he certainly wasn't a conspicuous enthusiast. And indeed he was a notorious health fanatic which suggests that he wasn't much of a user. Once he reached a position that attracted groupies, he got groupies, and there may well be no more to it than that.

As to Laura's remarks about boys, even after all these years there's never been any revelation from any gay sex partner that would confirm that Trudeau was queer. He was always simply assumed to be such. Outside Quebec this was purely malicious assumption. In Quebec, Trudeau actually had a public profile before he was in public office, and he always came across as lispingly, mincingly, flutteringly effeminate. That was good enough for Quebeckers in those days, but while pansy = gay is a good rough rule of thumb, it's hardly infallible. Needless to say, when he went into politics his handlers drilled him ruthlessly to change his behavior, and it clearly worked. But if you ever see old footage of the young Trudeau, you'll be startled at what a fairy he was.
