About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Stupid Liberals.
30 to 35 thousand people lose their insurance. 30 sign up for Obamacare. I see why the left doesn't want American kids to learn math anymore:
http://www.edarticle.com/article.php?id=27447
Yup, it increasingly looks like attempts to oppose Obamacare should not have occurred. If the Republicans had stated "you voted for this, you stupid idiots you, now you get to see what you voted for" then it could be pointed at in every election for the next 40 years. "Remember how we told you Obamacare would be terrible? Remember how bad it was. Well, this will also be bad. Are you going to be that stupid again?"
Who am I kidding, the media will be doing their best to put this down the memory hole too. Things haven't gotten bad enough to force to learn as a survival technique.
I am not surprised by the ACA numbers. It is a healthcare system desgned by people who never ran a business, company, or even a successful crown corporation.
I found the link to "Everyday Math: Innumeracy By Design" even more disturbing. It sounds very similar to the stupidity that regularly comes out of OISE, or even having a charged child pornographer designing a sex education curiculum like here in Ontario.
Or, to put it in terms even the idiots who voted for it can understand: "the Affordable Care Act isn't Affordable."
In basic principles it's simple. Any insurance system is a pool. If the pool is required to take on new members who had no insurance and pre-existing health conditions then the costs for the pool as a whole must rise. The only way to reduce costs is by: 1. eliminating costs which were previously incurred (i.e. not covering things formerly covered); or 2. reducing the administration cost of the system.
The ACA did neither of these things, hence costs had to rise. Yes, it's true that leftists can't do basic arithmetic. Neither can the American voters who supported this thing and are now astounded that their existing policies are either increasing in cost or being discontinued.
Yes, the American health care system badly needs reform. Everyone agrees with that, both left and right. ACA delivered no such reforms as are needed.
Give it another week, by then the Demo-Rats will be claiming the ACA was imposed upon the American people by the Republicans on the insistence of the Tea Party.
I say this in deepest angst. watching obama care is the equivalent of seeing the whole of America having a heart Attack. I should know having had one.
I hope they survive.
I didn't think any nation could screw up public health care more than Canada. I was wrong.
From the end of the linked Washington Post article:
"The money to cover those who are sicker or more liable to get sick doesn’t come only from government subsidies— it also comes from people who don’t have high health costs but who are required to buy insurance. That’s a reasonable way to organize the insurance market. It stays true to the long-sought goal of ensuring that high-quality health insurance is available to all by spreading the costs across a large number of customers paying into a regulated private insurance system."
Washington Post (predictably) approves of BarryCare, because its all about "spreading the money around". Gotta say the notion violently p1sses me off. The sheer arrogance of these people absolutely requires a severe clue-batting, with the biggest, ugliest Cluebat ever.
