About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

Yes it was. Life wasn't ruled by professional busybodies that felt obligated to run your life because they didn't have a life of their own. Politicians had more common sense and schools tended to teach what would be important in later life. College and University kept politics to a minimum and still accepted the fact that there might be two sides to a story. The media still reported the news and actually did some research to make sure what they printed had some validity. Chicken little was still a cartoon character instead of something to be worshiped. Gay meant happy and fudge packer was a job. Fag meant, a cigarette, queer meant odd and Homo meant milk. Adults could still play with lawn darts and you could enjoy your bike ride without a stupid helmet to let the world know your'e a weenie. You could insult anyone you wanted at your own risk and be insulted in return. Boys knew what their expected role in life was and girls were expected to be treated like ladies. Children could play with whatever toys suited their interest and not be judged for the inability to put condoms on a cucumber at age 6. Pregnancy out of wedlock was frowned upon and welfare was a last resort rather than a chosen life style. Police were still respected by our youth and prison was still a deterrent. Political correctness and HRC's were something out of Orson Well's book 1984. I could go on and on, but yes, life was much better before the nanny state , empowered bureaucrats, co-parents and gutless politicians decided the sheeple needed herding to save them from themselves. It was a different world. It was a better world.
A wonderful treasure trove of old photos. Most enjoyable to view. (Click on the 'More here' link above)
Thanks for sharing.
Well said Peter J.
I just spent probably two hours looking at those photographs. Amazing!
